Run The Jewels yeah but I have to disagree with Piñata. Don’t get me wrong I loved that album when it came out and it’s a REAL GREAT album. But it has no way impacted the genre nor does it stand the test of time
3 Reasons why To Pimp A Butterfly is a classic. 1. The Release: The time it came out was extremely timely to the preceding events. Black civilians being gunned down by police, and the uprise of fed up individuals as a result. To the point that "Alright" became a modern day spiritual chanted by the multitude. 2. Artists releasing albums with live instrumentation, and some incorporating modern jazz that had not previously. 3. Every classic record has a divide of people that consider it amazing, and people that do not but still respect it, which is tpab. Kendrick's most creative, cinematic, and yet still argued about album.
Now those are understatements, I know people that think GKMC is better than TPAB, I know people that don't like jazzy production its boring and bland (I'm one of them), I have seen people say TPAB is better than Illmatic (They're retarded), I know people that don't like kendricks voice in general (I'm one of them but I bought the albums to find some great tracks I can enjoy and I did). So you see these Kdot albums didn't really do much when you think about it, it didn't change the game, it didn't influence anyone's music and most importantly the replay value is really less in this generation considering people's "taste" nowadays (it's shit). So that's why TPAB is overrated by kendrick fans in USA, I think kendrick knew his shit won't have much replay value and that's why he changed his album approach and used trap beats and stuff on DAMN and made two hits, the only reason he became popular outside of USA and many people started checking him out and DAMN was commercially a success according to his standards, he himself considers DAMN his best album now (Meh I don't really care). The jazz and funky production only attract black people, and that's why most black people consider it a classic, there's nothing else to it.
Death Awaits You Jazz and Funk’s appeal is generational at this point, not racial. Kids today in general don’t really like that. Im not black (Im Filipino) but I love the Jazz-Funk sound. IMO TPAB is an easy classic but to each his own, doesn’t affect me if you don’t like it. Just think your point about ‘jazzy and funky stuff being only for black people’ is wrong.
Kanye West - MBDTF Kendrick Lamar - TPAB and GKMC Run The Jewels - RTJ 2 Freddie Gibbs - Piñata (it's not the perception now but I think it's gonna be with time...)

Death Awaits You it really isn’t overrated at all. I used to never understand why people put it in the album of the decade category until I looked deep into the lyrics. It is definitely not overrated and I recommend you look into the lyrics
@@Bpl76300 I own all of Kendrick's studio albums. When I first heard Kendrick, his voice was hella annoying. I wanted to see what's the hype about this rapper in particular so I tried to get into his music, after months of trying I finally got used to his voice and went through his albums. There are songs his voice goes perfectly with the beat and there are songs his voice ruins the beat. Regardless, he's a great rapper that's peaking currently. Yeah, he's rapping about his life, black livelihood, politics and stuff but that's the thing. His jazz and funky production mostly attract black people in USA, why do you think his albums don't sell much outside of USA? Exactly. I know many people who find his production bland because it's pro black music at this point. Well that's his styles and aesthetics, I don't blame him. The man himself considers DAMN his best work which was a commercial success with trap hits. Your favorite rapper contradicts all of you fans. Besides, TPAB didn't really do much to be considered an album of the decade, it didn't change the game, it didn't influence anyone's music, probably won't age well since it's limited to black folks. That's why it's overrated. But hey you feel free enjoy whatever you want to.
@@stray3rdborn36 tpab fiitted perfectly in his era, it inpired the blm movement, it inspired David Bowie’s last album, it received 11 grammy nominations, it's ranked hip hop album of the year 2015 on almost every hip hop magazine, it's ranked on every top ten albums of the decade, so tell me how exacly it didn't change anything, or influence anything? Come on man, I know this album has been very hyped and you might not like the album and it's cool, but you deny the fact that this album had a big impact when it dropped, and is now regarded as one of the masterpiece of this decade

The Documentary is a classic. im from the west coast and i remember he album blowing up and revitalizing the West, and the next thing after was the Game v 50 beef and Game won; THEN he dropped Doctors Advocate and set the West on fire because he shattered all expectations cause folks were saying he was gonna fall off after he left G-Unit. p.s. Sofie you look stunning!
FACTS.....I also believe Doctor's Advocate is a classic. The only reason nobody talks about it as much is because it had no radio singles or promo like the first one and Game was by himself spittin over HARD gangsta beats. Folks can't tell me songs like Lookin At You(intro), Da Shit, Compton, Let's Ride, Too Much, One Night, Doctor's Advocate, California Vacation, Why You Hate The Game ain't classic.....I can go on forever
Would be interesting to see if you guys can do another video on underground hiphop classics of the past decade... like Pinata, XXX, Black Up, Below the Heavens, Boy Meets World, etc
yea thats true because when i got into underground hiphop it was like a whole new genre. i had to go back and listen to deltron 3030, madvillainy, funcrusher plus, dooms day and more
G S have you checked out anticon and freestyle fellowship/project blowed/haiku de'tat/Abstract Rude, and living legends/mystic journeymen etc. Those groups changed my life and view on underground vs mainstream shite
I think his Mixtape from the dead actually did it. Finally Rich was just something you solidify him being on and signed. But the songs weren't shit or even held close to his Mixtapes. At that time people looked at Chief Keef as really weak lyrically but legendary for bringing that raw street shit especially because of his age.
Illmatic is timeless. Ive only been into rap for a few years, and that shit is way better than almost everything coming out today, despite its old sound.
Future - DS2 needs to start getting the recognition it deserves....to all my old heads, I promise if you really take the time to listen to the emotion and pain behind that album it'll grow on you. Lyricially the best trap album of the decade imo
I agree. Same age as Future & just started listening to his shit during quarantine. JESUS CHRIST. What he does in terms of sound in DS2 is incredible & connects to 808s & the Love Below. Then I found out he was in Dungeon Family. Also, his bars are there, but go over most heads cuz style is different (says so much using so little) & bars are deeper than what most would expect from Future so people miss em.
Classics of this Decade: To Pimp A Butterfly Take Care Dark Fantasy Acid Rap Good Kid Maad City 2014 Forest Hills Drive If You're Reading This Its Too Late
GKMC Fo Sho! And Raq 🙌🏽🙌🏽😍 Potential Classics - TPAB - XXX - Blonde - Piñata - Take Care - RTJ2 - House of Balloons -1999 (maybe just maybe) - ACID RAP ( a lot of kids would def push for it) - Because the Internet ( personal classic) - Control system ( personal Classic)
GeorgetheGreat I think take care and house of balloons are already considered classics but with the exception of XXX and because the internet those could be classics
GKMC, Pinata, and Control System are the only ones on your list that I can co-sign off of your list tbh. admittedly, haven't listened to your full list.

I disagree with Myke. There are young kids who feel they missed out on good music simply because they weren't born back then. I have nephews that love Tribe, Outkast, Jay.....etc more than they like the current stuff
A lot of younger people love Outkast because they have a diverse portfolio, production for the 90's aged extremely well, and overall there both great rappers and artists
I can't believe, after all these years of following this channel that they aren't nowhere close to a million subscribers. This is by far the best Hip-Hop discussion channel on UA-cam.

DICKRIDIN HATER it has the influence, quality is there (his skill is there and opinions do not matter), has not lost replay value at all, changed the game, it did numbers, it's just timeless. It is debatable right now to you folk who you think you gotta be hard and rap rap and rap, but drake proved that on take care, he transformed the "soft" thing and at the same time showed he can spit. I'm time it will be an undeniable classic.
Acid Rap and 1999 are probably the classic mixtapes of our generation nearly everyone still consider them the best projects for each artist and are still celebrated till this day when both are like 5 years old. They introduced most to 2 of the most influential artist of the new gen period
My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy - Ye Take Care - Drake Rolling Papers - Wiz good kid, m.A.A.d city - Kendrick Nothing Was the Same - Drake 2014 Forest Hills Drive - Cole To Pimp a Butterfly - Kendrick All of these albums from the 10's decade are classic to me

This is like your favorite albums list, not classics. If an album is a classic, it won't ever be taken off the list. I'm positive a bunch of these picks will be replaced in the future. Like Summertime 06 is great, I love it, but I'm sure Vince will put out something way better in the future that will make me stop listening to 06. Same with Denzel Curry. And cmon, new Eminem? If that's a classic, then every Eminem album is a classic, and that can't be true. Two childish Gambino albums? Three Joey Bada$$ albums? Pusha T? See, it's just too many. If we look back, people say Illmatic is a classic, but don't mention any other Nas album. Does that mean he didn't put out any other good projects? No, it just means to be a classic, an album has to be defining for the artist and the time, and represent a standalone peak in the artist's career that can be appreciated independently. Like the apex of a mountain instead of a point on the slope.
Lightning Zoldyck it's good and a solid project but there wasn't anything that blew me away or that was that interesting. You have songs st tropez, hello and love yourz that are not interesting at all. You have GOMD, no role modelz and wet dreamz that are too corny or the beat is a bit stale. There are really good songs like 03 adolescence, a tale of two citiez, January 28th ( even though when he says the Air Force bars, it sounds like crap). Intro is nice and the other songs like so apparently and the last track are ok

I know this is old on so happy you included Twigs. But I think her newest project Magdalene/LP2 has the potential to be an undisputed classic like homogenic
If your talking THIS decade, 2010-present, my list goes as follows: Good Kidd Maad City- Kendrick Take Care- Drake 2014 Forrest Hills Drive- J Cole Rodeo- Travis Scott DS2 -Future My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy- Kanye Coloring Book - Chance In no particular order...its too early to tell tho but I think those are likely to be considered classic in years to come. And yes....i think in order to be classic they have to be "known" artists...thats he only way they can truly make a worldwide impact
The Documentary is a classic. brought out all the west coast underground after that. PacDiv, Dom Kennedy, Fashawn, Jay Rock, G Malone, Roscoe Umali, Mistah Fab, The Jerk Niggaz (New Boys, Audio Push, Cali Swag District), Funk Volume, Alkoholiks and that all leads to Kendrick and Ab Soul and ScHoolboy. so yeah that album definitely kicked off everything the past 12 years on the West...

To me, LiveLoveA$AP was a classic. The mixtape was extremely consistent, it had it's own sound and it made cloud-rap/trap with a frontman with a lot of charisma.

Also my definition of a classic is not based on if it it's amazing or not (but some of it is) but on how much it affected the genre of hip hop and the cultural Side Note:I don't think this maters at all but I'm 16 just to give a point of reference
My list: 1. To Pimp A Butterfly 2. My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy 3. MM...FOOD? 4. Atrocity Exhibition 5. Doris 6. Run The Jewels 7. Professional Rapper 8. 2014 Forest Hills Drive 9. Goblin 10. good kid, m.A.A.d city 11. Blonde 12. Piñata 13. The Divine Feminine
There's a difference between a classic album and an influential album, and I feel like you guys might've conflated those words a bit. Imo, a "classic" project, whether it's an album, a song, a movie, or a TV show - is just something that people remember without having to think about it. I don't think it HAS to be groundbreaking or game changing per se, it doesn't even have to be particularly good, but just something unforgettable and iconic to a large amount of people. In the old school hip hop community, you say "Ready to Die" and most will know exactly what you're talking about. Most albums this decade have just been influential and began many trends, but not classics that everybody can name drop. Doesn't mean they're bad, just not as memorable to the widespread public. But I think today with so many different tastes and genres of music, it will be hard to make another classic project. There's so much variety that it'll be really difficult to get the vast majority of people on board about something, not to mention hipsters.
5 classics since 2010: - MBDTF (Kanye West) - Run the Jewels (Run the Jewels) - Acid Rap (Chance the Rapper) - good kid, m.A.A.d. city (Kendrick Lamar) - To Pimp a Butterfly (Kenrick Lamar)
I'm glad somebody else realizes that lol. Lil B has influenced a majority of these SoundCloud rappers that have gotten some buzz. (Lil Pump, SmokePurp, etc.) Hell , Lil Yatchy's favorite rapper is Lil B.
Classics - Kendrick Lamar - GKMC and TPAB Kanye West - MBDTF Future - DS2 Drake - Take Care Chance the Rapper - Acid Rap Travis Scott - Rodeo Freddie Gibbs and Madlib - Piñata Run the Jewels - Run the Jewels 2 Danny Brown - Atrocity Exhibition Earl Sweatshirt - Doris Macklemore - The Heist
Some of the main ones that come to mind that are unique and influential within hip-hop: The Cool Kids - When Fish Ride Bicycles A$AP Rocky - LIVE.LOVE.A$AP Tyler, The Creator - Goblin (maybe) Childish Gambino - Because the internet (maybe) Death Grips - The Money Store Kendrick Lamar - GKMC Kanye West - MBDTF Drake - Take Care RTJ - 1 or 2 (maybe) Earl Sweatshirt - Doris (maybe) Possible future classics (too early to tell), for better or worse (It's your opinion.): Future - DS2 Lil Yachty - Lil Boat Young Thug - Jeffrey/Barter 6 Travis Scott - Rodeo
808s and Heartbreak and MBDTF are definitely classics in how they redefined hip hop and worked as a precursor for how the modern sound of hip hop would be. Also I believe TPAB is far more viable as a classic than MAAD city.
It all depends on what kind of criteria you use to define the term classic. There's no question that the documentary is an incredible album front to back, but what did it necessarily change? If an album has to impactful in some sort of tangible way in order for it to be considered a classic, then he is right.
When I was a kid, I didn't appreciate old school hip hop but as I grew older I've come to connect with it. I think sometimes it requires a level of maturity to enjoy music from before your time.
I'm surprised they didn't bring up Cudi's Man On the Moon or even Drake's Take Care. Those two albums changed a lot of things throughout hip hop whether you want to admit it or not
MBDTF, GKMC, Take Care, Nothing Was The Same, Channel ORANGE, To Pimp a Butterfly, Yeezus, 2014 Forest Hills Drive, Rolling Papers, At.Long.Last.A$AP, ONIFC, The Weeknd's Trilogy, Oxymoron, Wolf, Blank Face LP, Acid Rap, Rodeo, DS2, Flockavelli, So Far Gone, Sorry 4 Tha Wait 2, and Man On The Moon 2 for me. Because The Internet and Tha Carter IV too. Add some that I forgot below
Shawn Orjiakor nah he said that because Future is having such an impact on the sound hip hop is having and the direction is going, so it can be called a classic based on his criteria.
#1 FlyGod by westside gunn #2 Crenshaw by nipsey hussle #3 Rare Chandler's by Action bronson #4 Pimp a butterfly by Kendrick Lamar #5 Wolf by Tyler the creator

everytime I listen to TPAB, I separate it from all other music released in this decade definitely a classic other classics: MBDTF, House of Balloons, gkmc
To me RTJ (1, 2, or 3), Danny Brown XXX, TPAB or GKMC, Live Love A$AP, MBDTF, and The Money Store were the only true classics of the past decade. I think the term "classic" means it was genre/era defining and it shouldn't be used for more than a few hip hop albums per decade. There are plenty of other great albums but these ones are the classics
Lou Borsellino. Why XXX, I love Danny brown but compared to old and Atrocity Exbhatition (idk how to spell it) , I feel like XXX wasn't that wildly different , while Atrocity Exbadition(even my autocorrect don't know what's going on lmao) was not done before
Lemme word that better, what did XXX do that impacted hip hop (I wasn't paying attention to hip hop when it dropped so idk how it impacted it but I love Danny brown and I just wanna hear what artists and sounds he affected and shit )
Lou Borsellino. After looking at the comments a bit more , I relizase there's more then one definition of classic , I was thinking of it as , it changes the game , but now I relizase that it could just be a outstanding performance and that could also be a classic
Lou Borsellino. Ok so I did some research and apparently rtj's label only released the first album the way they did becuase of the success of the xxx release, so in a way rtj only exists (or at least is only as popular ) becuase of Danny brown, so XXX did influence artists , so it is a classic , so ayeeee I answered my own question that I asked 4 comments ago
Danny Brown - XXX Kendrick Lamar - GKMC Ab-Soul - Control System Isiah Rashad - Cilvia Demo Schoolboy Q - Oxymoron Run The Jewels - Run The Jewels Kendrick Lamar - To Pimp a Butterfly Danny Brown - Atrocity Exhibition
To be a classic, an album has to be defining for the artist and the time, and represent a standalone peak in the artist's career that can be appreciated independently. Like the apex of a mountain instead of a point on the slope. For example, Section.80: it may be a great album. You may want to give it a 9/10. But that's just a point leading up to GKMC, which was definitely a peak for Kendrick. On the other hand, TPAB is a separate peak representing a different time in Kendrick's career, defining for the time and aesthetic it was built around. If you return to Kendrick's music, or suggest a new listener to listen to his stuff, you'd most likely point them to TPAB or GKMC. You can still appreciate Section.80, but it's not a classic, not a monolith in the hip-hop landscape. That's also why it's hard to put a Future album in the list of classics. Future's career is more defined (at least to hip hop in general) more by his singles, his features, the tracks that blew up independent of DS2 or a particular project. I don't think DS2 is standalone in the way that a Kendrick or Kanye project is. I do think Future has some classic tracks, but that's not what we're talking about. To Pimp a Butterfly, MBDTF, channel Orange (if you consider it hip-hop) could be considered classics. I would even say Yeezus is a classic because of what it represents in Kanye's career. A Drake album would surely be in consideration. Maybe defining projects by Joey Bada$$, Run the Jewels, and Ab Soul/Schoolboy Q could make the cut, depending on what else they put out. Until a lot of time has passed, I think this is the best sort of criteria for determining a classic.
If you go by most important albums by year: 2010: MBDTF 2011: Take Care (vomit) 2012: GKMC (honorable mention to The Money Store) 2013: Long Live Asap 2014: RTJ2 2015: TPAB 2016: Atrocity Exhibtion

IMO TPAB is an easy classic but to each his own, doesn’t affect me if you don’t like it. Just think your point about ‘jazzy and funky stuff being only for black people’ is wrong.

Death Awaits You same with me. His voice annoyed the fuck out of me for some reason but I got used to it
@@stray3rdborn36 tpab fiitted perfectly in his era, it inpired the blm movement, it inspired David Bowie’s last album, it received 11 grammy nominations, it's ranked hip hop album of the year 2015 on almost every hip hop magazine, it's ranked on every top ten albums of the decade, so tell me how exacly it didn't change anything, or influence anything? Come on man, I know this album has been very hyped and you might not like the album and it's cool, but you deny the fact that this album had a big impact when it dropped, and is now regarded as one of the masterpiece of this decade
So this went from "What albums from the last decade can you consider classics?" to "DID THE GAME PUT THE WEST BACK ON THE MAP?!?!"
Kanye West : 808s and heartbreak.
Kanye West : My beautiful dark twisted fantasy.
Kendrick lamar : GkMc.
Kendrick lamar : TPAB.
Drake : Take care.
J.cole : Forest hills drive.
Logic : Under pressure.
Run the jewels.
Kid cudi : Man on the moon.
Travis scott : Rodeo.
Future : DS2.
Childish gambino : Because of the Internet.
Freddie Gibbs : Piñata
Lil Wayne : Carter 3
fuck boii 4 life eh
fuck boii 4 life dude Kanye for graduation fuck 808s
I love how Run The Jewels is just there. Anything they drop is a classic. Period.
People need to know the difference between a cult classic and a classic
🙄 okay joe budden
Maybe this one would've worked better with a list of some classics and then debating whether they don't work or not.
I agree. A good album does not equate to a classic album.
This is turning into the everyday struggle discussion, which was a great discussion actually. Kind of agree with everything said there.
Nice profile pic.
Didn't even mention TPAB smh
The Goat False Goat
they didnt want to be obvious
that Shit just dropped. a little pre mature but I would assume it will become a classic. give it at least five years before we start throwing classic around
djwarzone1 then why they throwing around chance and drake? Shits new too. Watch the throne is only 4 years old and gets mentioned.

herby sylvestre hell yuh covert coupe! Wow I honestly forgot about that album! It's been a min lol
You wouldn't put Atrocity Exhibition up there?
in my opinion every Kanye project before Yeezus could be a classic.
Brendan Allie solo projects i would agree
Brendan Allie nah only the solos
Brendan Allie I really do. To me, TCD, LR, GRAD, 808s, and MBDTF are all classics. Some are more set in stone than others obviously
Yeezus is a cult classic too.
yeezus is a classic
Wayne- Carter III is a classic. That album birthed so many from this generation who are poppin' today.
Matthew McGahey.. hold this w
Lupe Fiasco's The Cool. I think it made the concept album big again

4eva Is A Mighty Long Time will be a quintessential southern classic on god
💣 Game
Would be interesting to see if you guys can do another video on underground hiphop classics of the past decade... like Pinata, XXX, Black Up, Below the Heavens, Boy Meets World, etc
yea thats true because when i got into underground hiphop it was like a whole new genre. i had to go back and listen to deltron 3030, madvillainy, funcrusher plus, dooms day and more
TrulyGully Charles Hamilton - The Pink Lavalamp
G S have you checked out anticon and freestyle fellowship/project blowed/haiku de'tat/Abstract Rude, and living legends/mystic journeymen etc. Those groups changed my life and view on underground vs mainstream shite
Chief Keef - Finally Rich. He put street Chicago on the map and inspired 90% of mumble rappers these days. Don't @ me.
@
Factss
u right tho
I think his Mixtape from the dead actually did it. Finally Rich was just something you solidify him being on and signed. But the songs weren't shit or even held close to his Mixtapes. At that time people looked at Chief Keef as really weak lyrically but legendary for bringing that raw street shit especially because of his age.
Real shit!! Shout out to my Chicago niggas!! Finally rich is a classic. Keef one of the most influential in the game right now.
How did yall manage to barely make Kendrick a part of the discussion?
He was one of the first two mentioned. I don't think they talked about it a lot because it's so obvious.
Wayyyyy too obvious. There's thousands of videos about Kendrick but GKMC and TPAB don't need a supporting argument
they did not have we all know he classic shit
there was no arguement ofc he has classic alums

Illmatic is timeless. Ive only been into rap for a few years, and that shit is way better than almost everything coming out today, despite its old sound.
#Preach! Say it again.
sounds old. sorry.
Future - DS2 needs to start getting the recognition it deserves....to all my old heads, I promise if you really take the time to listen to the emotion and pain behind that album it'll grow on you. Lyricially the best trap album of the decade imo
It's most definitely a trap classic. That project was definitely a cornerstone of modern trap and how rap was in 2015
Fuck no.
@@eminemfan50098 your opinion is wrong

GeorgetheGreat control system so slept on
what about doris since that was after the whole free earl shit
GeorgetheGreat I think take care and house of balloons are already considered classics but with the exception of XXX and because the internet those could be classics
GKMC, Pinata, and Control System are the only ones on your list that I can co-sign off of your list tbh. admittedly, haven't listened to your full list.
Control system is beautiful
Man, Ken will not give 808's the time of day

Illmatic is definitely timeless...
It is but they’re talking about albums from this decade
DS2 and Rodeo are classics.
Culture has insane replay value, every song has potential to be a hit. Will go down as a classic.
Can you guys review "Brockhampton - Saturation"?
I can't believe, after all these years of following this channel that they aren't nowhere close to a million subscribers. This is by far the best Hip-Hop discussion channel on UA-cam.
i wish they would have known the question before hand, and done some research and make a list of their own classic albums and then have the discussion

Acid Rap is going to be a classic.
Kanye West- MBDTF
Frank Ocean- Channel Orange
Kendrick Lamar- GKMC, TPAB
J Cole- 2014 Forest Hills Drive
Drake- Take Care (Debatable)
Lupe Fiasco - Tetsuo and Youth
RTJ 2
mtlgb take care has great production but drake is constantly weak on the album and corny... it's not a classic because of drake himself.
Smh people always try and slight Drake no other artist on your list got a parentheses smh just give him the credit .
That’s a good list

Roman Lipszyc yes tf 1999 is.
Acid Rap and 1999 are probably the classic mixtapes of our generation nearly everyone still consider them the best projects for each artist and are still celebrated till this day when both are like 5 years old. They introduced most to 2 of the most influential artist of the new gen period

The Copycat Ninja 2014 fhd???
FHD ez classic
Lightning Zoldyck it's good and a solid project but there wasn't anything that blew me away or that was that interesting. You have songs st tropez, hello and love yourz that are not interesting at all. You have GOMD, no role modelz and wet dreamz that are too corny or the beat is a bit stale. There are really good songs like 03 adolescence, a tale of two citiez, January 28th ( even though when he says the Air Force bars, it sounds like crap). Intro is nice and the other songs like so apparently and the last track are ok

A mumble rap album can't be a classic because its automatically garbage
That Captain Murphy Duality album also
I know this is old on so happy you included Twigs. But I think her newest project Magdalene/LP2 has the potential to be an undisputed classic like homogenic
I don't think acid rap, still brazy or the tribe album influenced anything

Good Kidd Maad City- Kendrick
Take Care- Drake
2014 Forrest Hills Drive- J Cole

DS2 -Future
My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy- Kanye

In no particular order...its too early to tell tho but I think those are likely to be considered classic in years to come.

MBDTF, GKMC, TPAB, and Take Care
Carter 4 close too
My name Carter 4 sucks ass

it wasn't released in this decade...? lol
That's cause it dropped in 2004 lmfao
It's garbage
Hereby Hereby it’s amazing. one of the best rap albums of all time pls be quiet
Cameron Bender not an argument
808s and Heartbreak and MBDTF are definitely classics in how they redefined hip hop and worked as a precursor for how the modern sound of hip hop would be. Also I believe TPAB is far more viable as a classic than MAAD city.
Why is tpab more viable than maad city
Both are classics
Man Myke could argue 2 + 2 = 5 & have you believe it. He's a great debater, but Documentary is a classic and Carter 3 is debatable not "undisputed".
ADAJ3 carter 2 is waaaay better.
ADAJ3.. why should carter 3 be debated.. it shifted the culture
2 + 2 = 5 is a great Radiohead song.
I cant believe hes arguing against the doc. I'll throw hands with myke over this.
SOO MUCH FILLER BULLSHIT ON THIS LIST
Tobie Olson blonde
lmao I like a majority of those albums too cuh but you kinda reachin calling all of them classics
Is Myke just trolling here? lol. Saying The Documentary isn't classic but then saying one of Future's albums is? Wtf 😅😅
Most of them don't listen to much West Coast Hip hop.
Shawn Orjiakor nah he said that because Future is having such an impact on the sound hip hop is having and the direction is going, so it can be called a classic based on his criteria.
#1 FlyGod by westside gunn
#2 Crenshaw by nipsey hussle
#3 Rare Chandler's by Action bronson
#4 Pimp a butterfly by Kendrick Lamar

To Pimp A Butterfly - kdot

how I got over- the roots
um that's off top my head.
myke i'm 20 and always loved illmatic since i first listened to it when i was 15, i would say it's timeless.
everytime I listen to TPAB, I separate it from all other music released in this decade
definitely a classic
other classics:
MBDTF, House of Balloons, gkmc
A Kid Named Cudi... STILL spins in my whip to this day. Yeah more than a decade old... but a classic.
Qyn Bayley-Hay i miss the old kid cudi :\
love that project!
There are plenty of other great albums but these ones are the classics
completely agreed. not sure about A$AP but everything else 100%
Ok so I did some research and apparently rtj's label only released the first album the way they did becuase of the success of the xxx release, so in a way rtj only exists (or at least is only as popular ) becuase of Danny brown, so XXX did influence artists , so it is a classic , so ayeeee I answered my own question that I asked 4 comments ago
freddie gibbs madlib- pinata
that project made me see gibbs in a whole new light.
Danny Brown - XXX
Kendrick Lamar - GKMC
Ab-Soul - Control System
Isiah Rashad - Cilvia Demo
Schoolboy Q - Oxymoron
Run The Jewels - Run The Jewels
Kendrick Lamar - To Pimp a Butterfly
Danny Brown - Atrocity Exhibition
i just turned 16 and illmatic is my favorite album ever , give us young kids a break
They are not speaking to all young niggas
Cilvia Demo will be a classic in due time.
The Sun's Tirade really has potential to be a classic.
I love them to death and to me they are personal classics but not enough people listened to it
That albums so overrated Isaiah Rashad sucks
If you go by most important albums by year:
2010: MBDTF
2011: Take Care (vomit)
2012: GKMC (honorable mention to The Money Store)
2013: Long Live Asap
2014: RTJ2
2015: TPAB
2016: Atrocity Exhibtion
Killer Mike's RAP Music could be classic on many levels I think. Sonically it's untouchable and the lyrics are straight fire for the whole project
