- On our latest trip to Oshkosh's Training facility our hosts were kind enough to let us take another vehicle out for a spin. Darren and Scott got to drive Oshkosh's HET A1, their heavy equipment transporter specifically designed to move tanks, armored vehicles, recovery vehicles and construction equipment. Special thanks to Dan for acting as the second cameraman for the exterior drive-by shots and Brian, our driving instructor, who made sure we didn't break anything expensive.
I love the M1070 and the 500 HP 8V-92 TT DDEC that they had,but these M1070A1 with the 700 HP C-18 make much more torque than the previous variations,also using different transmissions since the M1070 came with a CLT-754 while the A1 is equipped with a 4800SP.

The M1070A1 all use the 18.1L C-18 which is the 4 stroke just like the 15.2L C-15 ACERT that the M977A4-M985A4 has including the M1074-M1120.
The M1070,also being a better looking truck,all had the 12.7L 8V-92 just like what the HEMTT and PLS use to have.
The M1070 HET also had a CLT-754 while the A1 actually has the 4800SP.

was it an easy drive , or was a bit mussle pusher? and well could you turn the wheels?
All of Oshkosh's vehicles are very easy to drive. Power steering and automatic transmission.

Would the engine of an A1 swap and fit into the A0?
Both are literally the same truck with just different Hoods.The A1 all use the C-18 Caterpillar,the M1070 before the A1 all had the DD-92 (8V-92 TT DDEC) Detroit,until Detroit Diesel was bought out by Mercedes Benz.
