Mason comes across as a great youngster with the right attitude, temperament and keen to learn. IMO these qualities are rare in young people. I was going to say you're lucky to have him but maybe you should take the credit for his development. Anyway well done.
I've actually really enjoyed you guys testing out all the Harbor Freight tools. Makes the whole job feel more down to earth rather than some tool fashion show
What people don't realize about "American" made products is that most of them have a lot of foreign parts on them. Even American made trucks/cars have TONS of Chinese components. I think it's good to invest small when starting and move up from there. Thanks for showing folks how to do that.
My Ford truck was made in the late 1990s, and while the engine was made in Canada, probably 80 percent of the other components and assemblies were manufactured in Mexico.
Clint has to be the best one handed mechanic in Indiana 😆
I hope Mason appreciates how lucky he is to be learning from a true master.
I think the most important thing he’s learning, is to think 😊
I also hope Clint knows how lucky he is to have 2 sons that are interested in what he does for a living. Most often today if what the kid is doing is not connected to a smart phone they are not interested.
😆
My question is who would buy this thing and for what would they use it for. What purpose might be the best question.
@@godbeesmith - Yes.
Hahaha, the wiseassed reply indicates my belief that most fans of the channel, if they could, would have one of these HETs just because they're cool. Seriously, I've seen them repurposed with a flatbed for rough or no-road hauling, at least several have put big commo/van bodies on the back for overlanding/bugout vehicles, or even just exactly what the Army uses them for - hauling a D8 to the job site on a trailer.
👍🏻👍🏻
Its only been 6 minutes and ive watched this video 4 times. Certified C&C equipment classic
Excellent content, Clint! Sometimes those head-scratching, butt-kicking, goofy one off glitches are the best for content. It is good to see Mason spreading his wings a bit; even with a fairly approachable boss like you, between the Dreaded Camera and voicing opinions to the boss can give Newbies fits. It appears that Mason is coming along into his own. Now if he only had some sausage fingers or a hyper festive fetish for, say, 4th of July or Thanksgiving... .😊
Thanks Clint, 👌👍🍺🥤😊
I think it's very nice of you to give those tools away. Some people just have to make an ass out of themselves. No matter what you do. Keep up the good work.
I love that you show the entire troubleshooting process: rabbit holes, dead ends…there’s something to learn in every false lead. Videos like this help give me the patience to run down mystery problems on my own equipment, and to take the time to do it correctly. Thank you.
Clint, when my grandson got out of the Marine Corps he needed some tools to get started in his new job. So, his Dad and Grandpa went Harbor Freight and brought him abot $400 worth of tools. Now 4 years later he has replaced most of them and sold his starer set to a new mechanic in the shop.
It amazing how you know so much about so many different rigs and putting your guys in the rite direction
Rite???😂😂😂 or Right???? Sorry I have fat fingers and a small phone key pad as well.
Good explanation on the value of the tools to a young mechanic! I really don’t think about the cost for a young newbie mechanic.
Hey Clint, Someone said this about a critic…”any fool can criticize, condemn and complain and most fools do”!! - Ben Franklin! I think it’s a hell of a giveaway, the real mechanic receiving them will be tickled to death!! Thanks for the video!
Scottlee - definitely! I hope you entered the contest too, brother. Can't have too many tools. If nothing else, the hand tools should be decently long lasting. HF sockets and wrenches are made in Taiwan. Actually, the vast majority of sockets sold by anyone are made in Taiwan!
Thanks
Wanted to let you know how much I appreciate your thoughtful response and demeanor… the Competitive Advantage of the USA … is design engineering and innovation… the sooner we support and develop that advantage the more productive our value added industries will become… such as tooling and production… it’s a global economy… we need to adapt and overcome this homer mentality and actually be global leaders …
Keep up the good work C&C … well done
Don't listen to the 'haters' Clint, we think the world of you, your operation...and your always interesting videos! We appreciate your taking us along.
What does it matter if some or all of the tools have some wear on them there FREE to who ever wins them! Great job Clint, Mason’s going to make a good mechanic my hats off to you for teaching the younger generation your skills I’ve know some people who won’t teach because they think only themselves should know things and everyone should beg them for information. I’ve always thought those were some lousy individuals.
Clint…you’re spot on about the haters. Once they flame up & unsub…
You hardly even notice them anymore.👍😎
Well, there's always someone who'd complain about a free BBQ.
"This free beer ain't hardly even cold..."
Clint, for me, your videos are never boring, so just keep on truckin...You've got a great crew as well, and having your sons working by your side is something special. You mentoring them is huge benefit and will think of the times spent together their entire life as they turn those wrenches.
With the haters, no one can please everyone.
Keep up with the great work!
Another great job finding & fixing the problem. You did a great job !
That tool box is more trouble than its worth.
Hope the tools hold up. 70 years ago my Dad’s advice was, by quality tools, they will last a life time. He was right, hope Harbor Freight tools last.
Depends on how much you use something really, the home gamer won't get the utility out of a $60 ratchet vs $20 ratchet, if you use it daily then there's a argument for it.
Barry - your dad's advice is definitely sound. I have my doubts about the electric tools holding up to professional every day use but who knows? I think what Clint was getting at is that for someone starting out, HF might be a workable option. But they'd be a means to an end - definitely should be replaced over time. On the other hand, the wisdom your dad passed along to you of "buy once, cry once" is a good rule that kinda negates everything I just wrote, haha.
@@nicke1903- South Main Auto used a few Harbor Freight 1/2 drive impact guns at his garage as a test. They all quit working and he sent them to AvE who did a post mortem. The internal hammer and anvil (the parts that make the impact to break loose lug nuts, etc) was a powdered metal part instead of a forging and wore out when used hard every day. If HF cuts corners on the most important parts, all the other pieces of the impact gun are probably pretty junky too.
@@wes11bravo exactly, you just throw on some lawnmower blades, tighten up a bolt or 2 they'll get good utility out of it, the Harbor Freight here would take back a dirty diaper so returns seem easy enough. I get it, there's thing's I use a lot that I just simply don't compromise on, but some ppl just use something 7 times a year and be done with it... That's Harbor Freight's niche market.
@@wes11bravo I agree with what you said. IF YOU CAN AFFORD IT, buy quality but HF will get you started
The thing about haters is they're gonna hate. Once we realize that and distance ourselves from them, life is better.
Must admit those Osh Kosh trucks are awesome !!! The tools appear to be standing up to your usage so far ... time will tell but somebody will be pleased to get it.
But they do get Bogged
It absolutely amazes me how much damage mice (rodents) can cause in this equipment sitting around for years. Watching your videos and Matt from Diesel Creek, he deals with much older equipment at times and he calls them mousedominiums. Proud of Mason for the great young man he is but he has a wonderful teacher. Clint you are spot on with the tool give-a-way and glad the haters have thousands of dollars to spend on tools while us common folk just fix things. Love this channel and all the great work you do and the whole
crew. Absolute joy to watch.
Kevin’s absence was definitely noted! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
More HET videos please! Good detective work and ride along.
Keep the big trucks coming
Great video again ! Love watching the detective work trying to solve these problems you come across. Mason is one lucky young man having good teachers to learn him his trade and he certainly seems like a good hard worker. Thanks for taking the time to film it all for us.
Well done guys tenacity pays off
Not gonna miss a single hater I think what you are doing with the tools is awesome thank you
Although I'm a trained Petrol & Diesel Engine Fitter and Plant Operator Mechanic, I have spent most of my working life as a Cabinet Maker. When I started that journey, I bought cheap tools in the UK from ScrewFix and B&Q (our version of Harbor Freight). As busness came in, I re-invested and slowly replaced all the cheap tools with better quality - but it was with those cheap tools that I learnt my trade!
Also I believe the harbor freight tools have a lifetime warranty that all you have to do is take it back to the store and they'll replace it no questions asked. I tried to buy american made as much as possible but as an electrician klein tools don't even much of warranty today. That truck is so cool!
I'm glad to see young Man like Mason working and learning. I think he found a good place to work.
Had a similar issue with a New Holland backhoe I rebuilt for a customer, had some cracks in fuel from it sitting ,, was sucking air and not meeting the flow the pump required,, new line and some priming,, ran like a champ👍
Mason seems like he never backs off he just keeps pushing on, The old Oshkosh taught us all on this one. Thank you for another fantastic video ,Clint.
I started turning wrenches with a hand me down set of Craftsman, until I found out can replace for free.
Then I had a shiny set of Craftsman tools, went to garage sales and bought everything craftsman.
I would only buy 1 wrench from snap on, the most commonly used, when I was earning more I bought a set of snap on.
When I was rolling in cash, I bought the big box, took 3 years but it takes time to build quality.
When someone ask me to borrow a 9/16 wrench, they are surprised that I have 15 different styles of 9/16 wrench, every tool has a purpose.
"Run what ya brung, ifin you don't win, figure out how tah win next time "
No matter what you do there will always be those haters out there that want to say stupid things...heck i bet if you had a chicken that would lay golden eggs and you wanted to give one away they would have something to say bc it would have chicken poop on it..Keep up the great videos and teaching the young boys how to work on the equipment and those huge trucks bc then they will be able to do it on their own one day...
Very well put!
I would hope if he gave me a golden egg he would wipe the poop off it 🙄
Great video as always the variety of work is what keeps it interesting the range of skills you have is awesome, great to see you passing on skills to the next generation.👍
Way to go! Clint! Y’all guys! Don’t stop until the problem is solved! Another great video! 👌👍
Still need the trailer and the TANK to haul around!
And if you can’t get a tank then get a caterpillar D11 and we’ll turn it into a KillDozer. And then we’ll have lots of fun
Hey from Norristown PA 19401 love ❤ your channel & all all the heavy equipment you work on I'll leave you are so funny But most important the way you your Father your son's in the shop So amazing to see a father that pushes their kids to do things You push them in a most positive way always letting them do things around the shop encouraging them to try it and do it It's amazing and so beautiful to see how Maybach and come you are when telling your boys they can do something ❤👍🏾👏🏾👌🏾🙏🏾
I appreciate the fact that you show these video's where you are having problems solving the issue. A lot of people wouldn't! Question for you Clint, what do people that buy these use them for? As always thank you for bringing us along on your adventure!
Love seeing this oldish American Military hardware. Great learning material for Mason. Fun seeing you two working together. He seems to be soaking up your knowledge. Good to see young people working with their hands AND their minds.
Good job guys, my husband is a retired automotive engineer and he admires that you work with your son and are very patient with him, May you all be blessed!!!!❤❤❤❤
I've has fuel lines and brake hoses cavitate. Has a friend who a renowned Chevy mech his own truck pulled hard right when braking. Told him he had a cavitated line and after new caliper, rotor a couple different types of pads he finally checked the line and that was the problem
Thanks, enjoy watching you guys work and fix things.
on the tools... don't sweat the haters, you are trying to do something good for someone. as well as a tool review, thanks for the video
Clinton, it’s good to know you have a Det. Mason in the house. I was never worried about you two not getting it run. Great video. Thanks for sharing!!
Edit: Bring on the videos, Clinton lol.
WOW!! It's been a few decades since I saw a mount like that!! I repaired radios for the ARMY. That is a VRC-12 series radio mount. Most likely for the RT-524 Radio. WOW! such a deep dive.
Nothing sounds as good as a 2 stroke diesel singing!
Good job , thank you all
Fun times with finding source of problems. You have a good little helper. Thanks sharing 😊.
My hats off to you Clinton….you always get it figured out! I love your videos and can’t wait for the next one. Looking forward to seeing the shop expansion! Thanks!
It's really great that you are not afraid of doing a on showing people how things really work. Very enjoyable to follow along with the steps you took to solve the problem
Its great to see your son working with you. Great that he shares his thoughts on the problems with you. Most kid either have no thought or are afraid to share them because dad will make fun of them or worse get mad. I enjoy watching the start ups and the repair videos. Thanks for your time.
Well done boys . Love the diagnostic work . Sure love those HET Oshkosh trucks here in England . Great video thank you 👍👍👍
I think Mason is a great addition to the company. Perhaps one day with a few more courses, We'll here Mason say " Hey Kevin, get your butt over here" ! :)
Good job Clint. Thanks for sharing. Have a Blessed Day.
With my family being off grid, it gives us insight on these vehicles and what to look out for. Love the content and look forward to seeing the next one .
The tool deal is very generous, outstanding idea to help somebody. So, there you have it. Great video!
Good video and good job tracking down the problem
Well done Mason, oh and Clint...... I am amazed every time I watch you guys.
Hey C$C…. Love seeing the military equipment AND the discussions about the commercial possability for them.
Thanks for the vicarious education.
Just brilliant. Thanks for sharing clint. The fact y'all are gentlemen and do honest work makes it.
Great work guys, kept searching for problems. Runs great. Nice property also.
Great Job Clint and Team !!
You cant beat Experience to Trouble shoot !!
Looks like Clint will be retiring early the way that Mason has been taking more and more work on, the lad is doing well. (Lad is English English for young man).
I’ve always wanted to know more about the oshkosh trucks. Mostly after I was dwarfed by one by a barracks in the south of the UK. Gotta love those 8V Detroits!
Clinton glad you found the problem and it was relatively easy at once you found it. Love watching this about the large big vehicles😊
I always love your content Clint. You and the guys really get things done right. I don't see nothing wrong with harbor freight tools the higher-quality ones are pretty good great for starting out, until you can afford better tools. Keep up the good work guys.
Keep them coming, liked the diagnosis.
1) Anyone who hates on you for the whole HF long term test/giveaway probably needs to address the things in their lives actually worth getting mad about. I'm no fan of the chicoms either but lots of those tools are made in Taiwan, Vietnam, Philippines, etc. The service you're providing by giving an honest review is a gift. As you mentioned HF stuff is a good option for something just starting out who might not have $5k to spend on a Snap-On tool cabinet (with no tools in it).
2) Do you all use the dash 20 manuals for these vics when you troubleshoot? You guys are ninjas but they do come in handy sometimes.
Yep sometimes
Thanks for the interesting content Clint.
You guy's have an amazing shop! When I was there servicing the Taylor Forklift,, can't lie,, I was flat out mega interested in all the great machines you had there! Love this kind of work and will keep following! And yep,, had same issue as well with relay panel,, he had it sitting in a field in Edinburgh for 7 years,, mice made a nest, ate the wiring, had to fix all of that and it was great.
WON'T get bored with GREAT videos like this !!.....You guys are GREAT Mechanics !!....Thanks fer sharing
I noticed at the end of the video that the flapper on top of the exhaust was not closing. Do know if a little rain would hurt but too much rain might cause some problems.
Great video as usual, love the interesting content.
Mason seems like a great addition to the team.
Excellent work!
Great video Clint. I have rats and field mice do damage to electrical wiring in trucks and heavy equipment. Thank you and Mason for sharing.
Thoroughly enjoyed this one. Keep up the good work.
Very cool video gentlemen, I’ve used that air from the blow off hose in the cab in the vent trick a time when one side ran to low and ran out. A time or two maybe.
Oh ho ho! I thought Clint had literally lifted the lid of a whole heap of pain and anguish for a moment - as I thought that heap of black garbage was the carbonised remains of ancient relays! Like may be a flare had rolled in there - I know of something similar!
I could add more along the lines of some folk being luckier than others but there's also the guy who said "the harder I work, the luckier I seem to get!" Good work crew - look forward to more.
I've seen the California Stop many times, but this is the first time I've seen the Indiana Stop! I'm glad it was something simple, and now you know to look for that in the future.
Good job Mason I'm glad you figured it out!
Man that truck gets up and goes👍🎥👈👌🙄✌😁
Great job you two. You're a lucky man Mason, to learn from Clint. You have some serious sleuthing skills Clint. Great video. For suck a big machine, it seems to have good road manners. That air throttle would drive me nuts though.
all ways watch with interest what ever your all working on and cant believe some people are getting on at you over the tools give away dont they realise you are doing something to help some one else makes me wonder the mentality or some people good on you keep up the good work i truly think the staff you have working for you are dam lucky wish all employers were as good as you seem to be thanks for sharing 👍👍
I'm with you on the tools. There have been many Harbor freight tools I have busted or destroyed. but for starting out I can't knock them. I have always said buy the best tools you can "afford".
It seems Mason is very smart. A good troubleshooter. And coming along with learning the new to him things very well. Thumbs up Mason
Great troubleshooting.
Liked video. Fuel system fixed and truck runs great.
Great job and resuscitation! Another M1070 lives to see another day! Just gotta love that screaming Detroit!
Quality content Clinton, thank you for the video. 😊
Quite the truck. And yeah your little four-legged friends. So get in there and do whatever interesting. Good video. 👍👍🙂🇨🇦
I think you're doing a sterling job testing HF tools and encouraging the next generation to start sensibly then purchase premium tools later in their career 👍
Simple fix when you found the problem - what a great opportunity it was to learn to look at this area first - Mason will never forget it (nor will you probably). Impressed by Mason's attitude - good to see so many young people coming through the ranks of trade professions.
Great video. That's a whole lotta truck.
Nice work and yes some times it is the little things that bite us in the butt. But you got it and those are the ones that you will remember. I think a wrecker body would look good on one
Thanks for the videos!!!!!
🤢, those little devils!! Great video, great teaching!!👍🇺🇸
Great video! Love the sound of those Diesel engines.
Nice your taken in a young guy and teaching him your ways.
If it matters, the flapper on the stack is stuck open at the end of the video. You might get rain water down into the manifold. I noticed that the alarm wasn't beeping when Mason was trying to start it, but I didn't have to comment on it!
