"The fuse is blown." "Yeah I know"
She just just testing you Del!
I used to do electrical and now I work in a lab but I enjoy watching your videos! Best wishes from MS, USA
Thanks for watching.
In those heaters there is a thermal cutout usually at the top of the heater connected before the element which melts if there is an overload, could be the element which is not completely broken but becomes more resistant to the flow of electricity than if the element was fully intact this would melt the thermal cutout
more likley they had clothes or towels placed on top of the heater .
Hi David Thanks for watching. You could be right about the thermal cut out I didn't think about that, you know far more about these heaters than I do. It make sense an immersion heater has the same thing.
Agree, seen this before. Some have a “push button” cut out that can be reset simply by pushing it back in. Common in bathrooms as the tenants block the vents by drying towels etc on the heater which cause the thermal cut out to trigger 👍
If you want to see if a fuse works, run it over your mobile phone. If it scrolls the screen and lets you type in your password, it's good to go. If the screen stays blanks and nothing happens it's a duff fuse ;) Thank me later
Mate if this works you have changed my life
@@RecessioIt works
Wow.
She is a bit passive aggressive. Del: the fuse is blown. Her: yeah I know
if you know why didnt you change it
I bet she thought he meant the mcb in the consumer unit.
She was referring to the mcb. Another one of those people working from home who are not too co-operative, what made it worse is she's a tenant therefore she felt putout.
Before changing the fuse on the oven, an IR test live earth neutral earth should have been carried out. Easy enough tested across the pins on the plug. You could have left that oven with a fault…………….
Yes
@@Mainly_Electricalprobably a top element for grill and a bottom element for oven , bet bottom one goosed and obviously top one heated up, she will be ringing again to say oven part not working 😊
@@garylatto4191yes gaz 💯
I wonder what caused that 13amp fuse to blow. Not normal to blow with out a fault. Was the oven on for a while when it blew the fuse first time. Think I would have done an insulation test on it and left it running for a little while whilst I checked out the heaters.
Was thinking the same thing. A PAT test would have been appropriate, or at least a leak test phase to earth.
I'm a technician, not a certified electrician.
Old age probably, that oven is decades old
Lamp probably blew and took the fuse with it
She might have had the oven on with the door open to heat the room. She seems like a bit of a rude silly donut.
.... but why had the fuse blown on the oven? Fuses blow for a reason and this should have been investigated.
Might be worth them also calling an appliance technician to look into that?
I've just replaced a house fool of storage heaters I replaced the with a new type of heater the woman bought on line thay look like the intelirad from cef same design & can be controlled by an app if your customer hasn't got economy 7 I'd keep them switched off as it must be astronomical to use... liking your work 👏👏
She clearly didnt know the fuse had blown or she would of changed it 😂😂
Judging on her demeanour, I don't think she'd know her way around a plug or screwdriver.
All your customers seem to follow you around and tell you how to do your job. I don't know how you don't tell them to politely f#£k off😂
I just get on with the job and try to ignore them, it is annoying.
Just add £50.00 on the job easy peasy.😂
the landlord wasn't instructing del to do anything, he was just giving info and watching out of curiosity and interest, just like we're doing
I would always put something on the floor to protect it from sharp edges grease and dirt when pulling out an oven also if you can make it same level as the cupboard it’s coming out of it might be easier to work on
Quite often an early warning the oven element it's on its way out. I replaced my oven element three times in 24 years. So fed up with it and getting aged I replaced the whole oven in the end. Grill went as well. The Bosch did well.
IR test the elements, and check continuity through thermostats.
Commmoonnnn 💪
She’s annoying. “Yeah I know.” Well no you didn’t did you because you could have saved yourself the callout. Smh
If I suspect it’s a kitchen appliance fault I always PAT test or megger it before switching it on.
someone recently called me that their oven wasn't working. Please note that there may be nothing wrong with your oven, but it just requires a reset.
If it sits on legs, it's full of bricks, no legs mean no bricks 😃
If all those heaters are on a separate circuit, fit a time switch at the board and they can all be on or off as needed and/or if they’re on a variable tariff, at the cheapest rate. Horrible things though!
That's an idea I'll have to think it through. From what I understand the manufacturer do not recommend those heaters been controlled by an ordinary time clock . They should be controlled by a dule tariff system
They probably will be on their own circuits as they would be connected to an off peak board but if you were to operate them from a timer it would have to be done with contactors.
That type of controller is not suitable for a high load for a extended period its ok for lights ie a light load but thats all. Tbh a installation to off peak should have its own supply running from a central programmer ie Horstman for instance.
Omg common sense is to check the flaming fuse on the plug first lol
I'm sure when diagnosing the fault on the first storage heater Delroy says "you just remove the elephant thats blown"!!...... Doubled up with laughter.... the third refernce @ 16:00 is definitely "elephant" Wonderful. Not suprising that storage heaters are heavy.!
Jesus Christ!
I can't believe what I'm hearing!
(Retired Spark)
That rotary timer, we have them in Israel for water heaters, very common. They often go bad, usually it's the 3 position switch to the right of the dial.
Yes
faulty oven element....common usually takes out the red....
Heater is probably ok !!!! You should test it , resistance test ohms law !!!!
unit stat failed or thermal link melted, my guess.
Wouldn't you megger the oven to see if its low on insulation
Yes
yeah I know you silly billy
they don’t usually come on during the day ..
heatlink melted
I am indan power so much electrision myhalp
also those heaters usually have their own fuse spur ….
She's rude.
Convection heaters don't have any fans in them
Not unless they are forced to?! Then best named Forced convector heater. Did you spot Delroy refer to " the elephant that's blown" @16:00 Superb
Those electric heater usually have their own fuse box ….
Blimey Del, are you advertising for Kingsmill now?.... At least 3 lorries in the background of your intro.
This bloke dosnt have a clue. He doesn’t even know what heaters they are . 9 out of 10 times it’s the thermo cutout that’s tripped . That’s the first thing to check. And reset .if necessary.
I’m guessing there is economy 7 and the time switches should be synchronised to the night rate. Not the best way it’s wired .
Which bloke 😛
Just get a lead with a 13amp plug on and connect it to another plug see if it heats up .
Should that oven be on a regular 13amp socket I thought it was 40 amp fuse …
Delroy if you don’t know how they work then don’t touch them …
Yes they have brick inside that’s what heats up lol..
Lead fuse top of heater ..
Thermal cut out …
Nooooooo don’t buy new heater it’s easy fixed …
yeah I know you silly billy
