- Taking a 6-note phrase, RLRLLK, and making it sound pretty not boring. From the ground up.

Halleluyah Josh!!!! After 40 years of searching you've just shown me how to crack that break Neil uses during By-Tor and the Snow Dog! Halleluuuuuyah!!!!!
this is my one of the favourite lick for chops and grooves
Great video. Thxs a lot Josh !👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻☺️
I'm digging it man. Thanks for the chop.
Single best instructional video I have ever watched.
Really nicely done - thanks so much for doing this, sir!

My new fav channel! Excellent breakdown and PLEASE keep showing how to make patterns into grooves - not enough of that on YT!
Just discovered your channel, and man I'm enjoying it so much! Great GREAT content!!!!!!!!
One of the best drum instruction vids I've seen. Super useful and I feel like I actually learned something that I can practice and apply. Supe thanks :)
Very well demonstrated Josh. I play professionally and always looking for something new to practice. Thank you!
Crystal clear! You rock in drumming and teaching! Cheers from Italy :))
Clear understandable explanation, skeleton of how to work on songs, I'm so grateful! Thank you so much :)
Your explanations are exceptionally lucid. Thank you.
awesome vid! very well put together man!!! using this tonight!
Excellent instructional video! Way to break it down and then demonstrate orchestration and application. Thanks for sharing your time, skills, and information.
Great lesson!!
I watch a lot of UA-cam drum lessons I have never come across this guy before. His teaching is great and I can’t wait to try this lick. I’ll be watching his stuff a lot in future. Thanks
What a great tutorial, and a perfect example of what one can do with a basic rudiment like (an almost) double paraddidle. Great presentation man!
Brilliant tutorial. Clear teaching. So much charisma. Brilliant playing. Liked and subbed
You. Are. The. Greatest. UA-cam. Drum. Teacher. Ever. Thank you so much for your clear, concise, and easily understandable drum lesson.
What a great teacher. Self effacing, funny, very clear explanation of terms and great demonstration . Thanks Josh!
Bravo. Superb. I understood everything. You're great, man...
Nice lesson and clearly fun explanation
Hey Josh, hello from Goa India. Amazing breakdown, your patience is exemplary and you method of instruction superb. Thank you for the lessons. God bless.
Thanks for the excellent clear, detailed lesson and for sharing this cool lick! Great break down and explanation of dynamics, orchestration and displacement. I know you can't cover everything in a 15 min lesson but I would've liked to have heard you incorporate this lick as a fill after playing a few bars of time, either straight 8s or shuffle type groove etc. I'm going to practice this lick and play around with it to see how I can use it both as a groove and a fill..
Aye man, great, clear instructions for drumming. Some pro drummers are not understandable at all when it comes to teaching. You make it easy to learn!
Yes, my thoughts exactly. Thanks for the video
Same thoughts, I'm grateful :)

9:00 is called a permutation if anyone is wondering. David Garibaldi has a great book on it.
This lesson/video is so 2008, but it's really good man! ;)
thanks!
Great concepts you demonstrate for me, a somewhat advanced drummer.
thanks Josh, fantastic lesson! would love to know how long you would practice this until you feel you 'have it down' and move on? or is it that you keep practicing the same things and trying to play them better?
I am a first year drum student , about 8 mos. into it. Was wondering what a "lick" is. I thought the lesson was excellent. Thank you. Bettina Beauchemin, New Britain, CT.
Thank you.
Ok that’s me sorted for the nxt year or so ,Thanks.
You explain the pattern taking your time. Others show a pattern for beginners at 90bpm. Thank you
