Probably my favourite episode so far. It's awesome of you to give the spotlight to Dweezil Zappa. A criminally underrated guitarist/composer/musician. His genius father would most certainly be proud of him. I can't wait to hear the super long guitar song, featuring every legendary guitarist ever! You should have talked about that one, too. Fantastic interview. Thanks a lot for the wonderful content. Shred on! 🤘
Confessions is one of the greatest rock albums ever recorded. I'd pay good money to see him play that full album live. I wish he still made new albums of his own music.
Let me just say for the record that I will be there for anything Dweezil does related to the Confessions album... one of my top favorite albums all time. A tour of that album would be freaking amazing and I wouldn't miss it for anything!!!
Excellent interview! I’m a long term Dweezil fan. I used to wear my DZ Watermelon t-shirt. Was one of the first people to own a Wiggy. And I’m grateful to own the 5149 1/2 Shamer that’s pictured in the 1995 Guitar Player interview with EVH that you showed in the interview. Always happy to see new Dweezil content. Thank you!
My uncle played bass and toured in the same band with Dweezil. I remember going to my uncles house in Ventura to visit for his birthday and Dweezil and Ahmet were there hanging out. Dweezil gave my uncle a copy of Shampoo Horn on cd. The Zappa bros were cool.
Thank you so much for having Dweezil on and asking such great questions. Really appreciate that you asked about a possible tour/show for the Confessions album. It's such a great and underrated guitar album.
Phenomenal video and interview Dweezil is always a pleasure to listen to and you covered his long career great. Keep up the fantastic work that you do my friend. ✌🏻
Shampoo horn and Confessions of a deprived youth, my go to rock guitar albums. I learned a lot from these tunes! Yep. I always play SOTW ( G/D chord on the tenth fret ) after seeing DP at knebworth 84'! People have said that i was wrong about this position on the neck.. go figure... in my most humble gratitude, great interview thanks!!! (P.S. i would love to play some DZ music live with you all)
I think the part about selling the guitars is . . . it essentially gets lost to the public eye. Once sold - that's the last anybody would ever see it. It's always nice seeing Dweezil bringing his dad's old guitars out. If FZ'd sold them, we'd never see it again.
38:10 - there are pictures of this. Those were two John Suhr (CAE/CAA) modified Marshalls heads (JCM-800s?). It is alleged to be the “Crunch” mod, same as Billy Joe Armstrong, Doug Aldrich, and others.
My favorite guitar solo of all time is Dweezil's solo on "Let's Talk About It", from his "Havin' a Bad Day" album. And speaking of Dweezil's movie/tv appearances, you missed his appearance in Ozzy's "Shot In The Dark" video.
I believe he did the intro for the Ben Stiller Show which was awesome. Does anyone know how his cameo on the Purple Haze cover on the Winger album came about?
i used to hang out with terry bozzio in my town , he was my sponser in AA for awhile, but i did drugs and he didnt , so it was kinda a (acholic helping a dope fiend) i honestly didnt know who he was, i was like 19, *(all my childhood friends (like babys, 4 of them) died in a car crash at 18, so i was messed up on dope, bad) my dad was in AA and i went. he told me to ask terry to be my sponser , had NO CLUE WHO HE WAS.... so i asked him , he said yeah. i wasnt into getting sober really, i was still messed up really bad, so i didnt really call him and i still feel really bad about that. hes a amazing guy, but my brain and heart where just blackened and i didnt want to be around anyone, (not even the best drummer in the world, which i had no clue when i first met him) i learned later on after being his sponsie....found out he was in frank zappa, his band with the walking in LA, great stuff man. literally a ROCK GOD, i just knew him as terry... i wish i would have been more serious, cause he was such a good person... invited me to do his TV show, on DRUMCHANNEL, with brain from primus.....i was starting to get a clue that this guy is like something ...*guys i was a young kid, i listened to like limp bizkit and stuff... go give me a break...my dad KNEW WHO HE WAS, like rock god status....im like oh terry yeah. hes cool.. my dads LIKE DUDE HES LIKE A ROCK GOD BRYAN. really??? ok ill look him up... *a drum set that took a full day to put together. and can play it...... i got to check out his "BARNEY RUBBLE" set in the studio which was CRAZY african style drums , just anything thats not reallly in the standard kit....it was amazing seeing him play it with brain......
Not true on the Plexi's for the Balance tour. I was lucky enough to see Ed's amps, rack and guitars up close and personal on three consecutive tours as I worked for the promoter. The Balance tour was OG 5150's for gain tones. The Marshalls were used for clean tones with guitars that he was using a piezo pickup. That tour he had and did play several of his Wolf prototype's. There are photo's of two Marshalls on that tour along with his 5150's but again, they were used for the cleans. The following tour with Cherone, it was all 5150II's. No Marshalls in site. Which again I was lucky enough to see his gear onstage.
Great interview! I have my guitar wants to kill your mama on vinyl. Dweezil is a beast of a shredder and confessions is my favorite. I also always wanted a wiggy! Checkout the peavey show that Z did with the best longest medley of tunes! You should have asked him about his what the hell was I thinking project. I hope one day it gets released! You also didn’t bring up the game show him and Ahmet did called Happy Hour.
sometimes using another guitar it is not always about the sound, it is about the design, color that bring the inspiration, That is why we do not see the same movie all days, or dress the same shit all days...guitars are the same. it depend the sound, the mood we are, the look, etc .........easy , so true
So if I'm about to pay $1900 for a used, US handmade guitar one of a kind, I'm not an idiot right? The builder said he would never sell it four years ago (based on 47 minutes deep in interview). I like Dweezil's comment of support mom and pop, not press a button and a machine makes the whole thing.
Please, this question is not in a disrespectful manner..so maybe I missed something ....so can somebody tell me why Dweezil is kind of relevant? I know he plays awesome... was he very popular ? maybe because of those TV shows??... was he part of any very popular band ? did I miss something? ..definitely is a cool dude, awesome interview as usual.
I would say, as a teen in the 80's learning & playing guitar, he represented a bunch of us & was living the life we dreamed of - hanging with Eddie, Nuno, Warren etc. , making hard rock guitar albums, etc. He was a kid having fun playing guitar like the rest of us - so there is a kinship. His humble nature and genetic sense of humor makes him likable to this day. Yes, he's not a rockstar by the definition, but he is a very talented musician making a living following his passion.
everyone was expecting their tv show to be just what Dweezil described, then it came out and was way More normal than their real lives, so it lost everyone's interest quickly. executives are stupid that's why they're not creative people and that's why most tv shows and movies suck.
When will he talk about grandpa and what he was involved in. And how Mommy and Dada were all involved in the Weird scenes inside the canyon. Ive no respect for any of these shills.

Shampoo horn is one of my favorite underrated albums of the 90’s.. in my mind, everything is possible.
I liked shampoo horn , Z . But I loved confessions lot more
Shampoohorn is one of my favourite albums I lost my vinyl and now can’t buy it anywhere 😢
Confessions is one of the greatest rock albums ever recorded. I'd pay good money to see him play that full album live. I wish he still made new albums of his own music.
Dude this channel is awesome, thanks for going the extra mile to chat to Dweezil! I listen to Dweezil's Automatic album to this day. Thanks Dweezil!
Tier-1 quality content! Thank you for having Dweezil. He's very humble and really talented.
Let me just say for the record that I will be there for anything Dweezil does related to the Confessions album... one of my top favorite albums all time. A tour of that album would be freaking amazing and I wouldn't miss it for anything!!!
Yeah man. The same here. Love that album
First discovered Dweezil in Don Johnson's Heartbeat, also featured in the music video. Awesome player!
Love Dweezil-Nice man and awesome guitar teacher.
“Confessions of a Deprived Youth” was fantastic.
Bruh… this guy is AWESOME polite and modest.
Continuing a legacy while carving his own path . Would love to interview him.

It is so cool to hear the story of Dweezil! I really liked Confessions. Great Album!
Thanks for your time, guys. Great insights Dweezil.

I REALLY ENJOY DZ
Guitar For The Practicing Musician was the GOAT
🤘😎♥️🇺🇸🎸🔥💣🔊🎼 DZ SHREDS!!!
Love his playing on the Steinberger!
Phenomenal video and interview Dweezil is always a pleasure to listen to and you covered his long career great. Keep up the fantastic work that you do my friend. ✌🏻
Those Peavey classics are really awesome underrated amps . So sparkly, and all the other buzz words for tone .
A Steve Vai passion and warfare poster as well as a Gary Hoey poster can also be seen in the Empire Records movie.
Fantastic stuff, love this channel 🤘🏼
Thanks so much for the kind words! I appreciate your support and I’m happy you are enjoying the content🙏🎸🎸
Shampoo horn and Confessions of a deprived youth, my go to rock guitar albums. I learned a lot from these tunes!

(P.S. i would love to play some DZ music live with you all)
Awesome. Awesome.
Thanks so much! ❤
I used to watch that tv show strictly for the guitar playing.
And Eddie was on TWO (not "Three") and a Half Men.
This is freaking awesome! 😎🤘
Glad I subscribed.
DANG! Dweezil is actually a couple of years older than his dad was, at his passing! 😥
Thanks so much for checking out our latest Talking Shred episode and for subscribing to the channel! We appreciate your support!🙏🙌🎸🎸
I'm going to have to look now, I had Dweezils album confessions at one time anyway. ❤
I’d love to have a copy of those “ Normal Life “ episodes.
Dweezil Zappa has all the skill and talent and none of the ego or attitude
We need Dweezil to return to the 80s Shred Era
I think the part about selling the guitars is . . . it essentially gets lost to the public eye. Once sold - that's the last anybody would ever see it. It's always nice seeing Dweezil bringing his dad's old guitars out. If FZ'd sold them, we'd never see it again.
This was fantastic. Thank you.
Very well done. Thank you

also in the Ozzy "Shot In The Dark" video
This! Can't believe they left that out.
Dweezil Zappa Is a really funny guy.
Watermelon was in the Memphis H.R.C. I think that one closed, so it may be in the vault now.
Brilliant Content!!!
I believe he did the intro for the Ben Stiller Show which was awesome. Does anyone know how his cameo on the Purple Haze cover on the Winger album came about?
This is cool.
Dweezil gets interviewed by Johnny Bravo
I loved that Cartoon as a kid! 🤪🤣🙌🎸🎸
34:25 - what about guitar for the practicing musician? I always thought that was the most practical yet serious one.
i used to hang out with terry bozzio in my town , he was my sponser in AA for awhile, but i did drugs and he didnt , so it was kinda a (acholic helping a dope fiend) i honestly didnt know who he was, i was like 19, *(all my childhood friends (like babys, 4 of them) died in a car crash at 18, so i was messed up on dope, bad) my dad was in AA and i went. he told me to ask terry to be my sponser , had NO CLUE WHO HE WAS.... so i asked him , he said yeah. i wasnt into getting sober really, i was still messed up really bad, so i didnt really call him and i still feel really bad about that. hes a amazing guy, but my brain and heart where just blackened and i didnt want to be around anyone, (not even the best drummer in the world, which i had no clue when i first met him) i learned later on after being his sponsie....found out he was in frank zappa, his band with the walking in LA, great stuff man. literally a ROCK GOD, i just knew him as terry... i wish i would have been more serious, cause he was such a good person... invited me to do his TV show, on DRUMCHANNEL, with brain from primus.....i was starting to get a clue that this guy is like something ...*guys i was a young kid, i listened to like limp bizkit and stuff... go give me a break...my dad KNEW WHO HE WAS, like rock god status....im like oh terry yeah. hes cool.. my dads LIKE DUDE HES LIKE A ROCK GOD BRYAN. really??? ok ill look him up... *a drum set that took a full day to put together. and can play it...... i got to check out his "BARNEY RUBBLE" set in the studio which was CRAZY african style drums , just anything thats not reallly in the standard kit....it was amazing seeing him play it with brain......
You can get a Wiggy to ROCK OUT! You can get out of control with those amps

what hair products go into getting your hair to look so thick and lush?
Awesome video

Master of Shred, is the Shred version of "The Rock"
I remember the watermelon Jackson on that shown
Never seen or heard of "The Wiggy"
Why did it he'll do some though calling? In 90s, 4:26 He'll do it against who through what are you doing.
John Fields has the tube wiggy

Not to mention he’s the son of the legendary FRANK ZAPPA!
Watch his CURRENT live touring performances. Dweezil is a HIGHLY respected musician
He is the closet person on the planet to play like EVH
He was taught by him
@bluematrix5001 Maybe you should watch the video.
Holy ads Batman, got one every like 3mins
Didn't him and his brother on USA in the 90s?
Smoking hot playing on the Alice Cooper schools out
Great video. But oleeeease sort out that mic crackle! I think it's the waistcoat rubbing on the shirt. Makes it difficult to listen to.
Bro sounds defeated as all hell. He must be listening to the wrong people. I wanted a Wiggy and Peavey always messed something up.
everyone was expecting their tv show to be just what Dweezil described, then it came out and was way More normal than their real lives, so it lost everyone's interest quickly. executives are stupid that's why they're not creative people and that's why most tv shows and movies suck.
He is the closet person on the planet to sound like EVH....He took lessons from Edward
When will he talk about grandpa and what he was involved in. And how Mommy and Dada were all involved in the Weird scenes inside the canyon. Ive no respect for any of these shills.
Can you expound ?
@DogDaze66 WTF are you talking about?
