Think it's best to start buying the old speed queens. NEVER had any problems with those. Washed better than the machines of today. Look at a new modern machine, practically no agitator. Gotta wash the clothes 4x just to get them clean as the old speedqueen at half the hour.
We have the NTW4516FW3 model and it quit working correctly. When set to REGULAR wash cycle and AUTO SENSING fill and warm water it fills and as soon as it is done, the LEDs go blank and it pumps out all the water without agitation. THEN the light comes on to WASH and nothing happens no matter how long you wait. If I set it to CASUAL it will fill with water, agitate, then it pumps out the water but does not rinse or spin. Any clues? Sounds like it may be a control board issue, or a bad connection.
Same with mine. I have to push the start button until all the lights go off. Then I put it on rinse/spin and push the start button and it rinses and spins. I don't always have to but more often than not.
Thank you for the video. Our exact washer as the video wouldn't do a spin. We tried and our washer went into diagnotic mode petfectly and found no issues. Thanks again.
Awesome video! I think It's really cool how these machines have a test sequence to make service easier. I believe this is the order: 1. lock lid 2.Cold fill valve 3. Hot fill valve 4. (repeat) 5. Both valves on (Warm) until designated water level reached (pressure sensor test) 6. shift to agitate mode 7. Agitate 8. Drain 9. Shift to spin mode 10. Spin until full speed reached (if test failed machines shuts down and goes to next step) 11. wait for basket to coast to a complete stop 12. Unlock lid, if all test lights on then cycle complete, no problem seen. Any other codes/sequences the machine has an issue. Hope this helped!
Thank you! And yes, I do believe it does it in that order. I know I mentioned at the end what I thought it was but I don’t remember if I got it correctly or not.
Mine just clicks every 8 seconds or so. Why? No lights, nothing. Clicking stops when I hand turn the agitator, then cintinues clicking when agitator stops. Computer problem?
I do not believe anything would be necessary to do if you just replaced the water valve, however it may not hurt to run a recalibration cycle. You may be able to look up the steps for that online, but it is done through a similar process in service mode.
My Amanda NTW4519JW2 makes a sound like a jet engine. It doesn’t do it every single time, but when it dies, it sounds dangerous. Any suggestions? Thanks.
My Amana washer stuck on rinse cycle blinking. I took all clothes out in plugged and plugged back in. A couple inches of water at bottom of machine. How can I fix this
if the machine is not filling with water at all, regardless of cycle, it sounds like you may have a bad water valve, or a bad connection at the water valve
My washing machine is of the same brand as yours, but now there is water at the bottom of my drum, and no water can be seen inside the bottom, but I can obviously hear the sound of water at the bottom when I shake it. I don't know what the problem is, and I am particularly distressed
What you are hearing is most likely the balance ring around the top of the tub. These are very often filled with water, which, during the spin cycle, distributes out to help balance out the tub. This water is entirely self contained, and a sloshing sound is normal to hear when moving or shaking the tub, since it’s not completely filled
I would recommend checking the inlet hoses to the machine to make sure they are not kinked or otherwise restricted. If everything seems fine, and the water is turned on and you have decent pressure to other faucets in your house, I'd recommend contacting the place you bought it from, or another appliance store, to come check it out.
On these, the lid must be closed all the way to start the machine, so the lid switch must be engaged in order to start. Make sure the lid strike is engaging the switch correctly and that the lid is closed all the way when trying to start the machine.
I'm so confused my washer wasn't working I haven't used it in months... It was not agitating.... I ran a diagnostic although I can't see what's going on I can tell everything is working.... Now what? Was this to reset my machine?
@@jenniferlawlor16 If you are having issues with it draining, check and make sure the drain line is not kinked or clog. If it doesn’t sound like the pump is running, you may want to check the connection to the pump, and if all that is okay then you may not have a good pump
There are a couple possible reasons it may do that. You may have a faulty control board, or something like the motor or gear case could’ve failed, however that’s less likely. Without seeing the issue it’s hard to determine for sure, but I’d recommend having a service person check it out and see if they can identify the issue specifically.
My washer did everything yours did in the test, but as soon as I started to was, it's doing the same thing. The lid light stays on, continues to click. Now working! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! I was about to have them to come and get it for service. I've had it since 2021, and still under warranty with protection plan.
Will lights stay lit for diagnostic in the end or if the light just goes on green everything is ok. My washer always fills to a full load no matter which cycle I use. I am perplexed.
If yours is the FW0 or, like in my case, the FW1, then it will always fill to a almost full tub on every cycle unfortunately. At the end of diagnostics, if no problems are detected, it should just go back to flashing, and then you would hold the start/pause button until they turn off to exit diagnostics.
Update after no lights at all after dépression of Start: Second calibration worked: each green light appeared and blinked except for the lid locked light, upon which I turned the knob until only the rinse light steadily appeared; then, the cycle completed as always since purchased new. Before calibration, which finally corrected the problem: This very model will not light at all, but the motor is sounding until I unplug it. No clog in any hose; the outlet is working-I tested it by plugging my Vitamix into it, which worked. We purchased a 3-year warranty on 05/17/22. I’ve been using it only 2 times a week.
Sounds like it may be a control board issue or something similar. If it’s still under full warranty, it wouldn’t hurt to have a service person come out and take a look at it. We’ve been lucky with this one, as it’s going on 7 years old, being used every other day, without any issues.
Thank Goodness I located our Extended Warranty plan and receipts that cover it through authorized Whirlpool service. One sheet and two pillow cases resulted in an abnormal high fill-3/4 of water in the tub that was still filling, so I pressed thee Start button until the water drained with no spin. When no lights finally responded, I attempted to calibrate it, and the green lights appeared, but fill was to 3/4 of the tank again with no stop, so I pressed the Start-Stop again button for about 3 seconds until the water emptied with no spin, and I located my warranty papers. Perhaps the lights had failed due to a sensor component such as a water level switch? I would not remove or attempt to replace parts since I have an Extended Warranty. Authorized servicemen/women surely rely on a voltmeter.
My washer will not get past the initial fill. It starts to fill and then it stops and does nothing what will happen when I do the diagnostic test that will indicate the problem?
Under the troubleshooting section (it's missing the word "troubleshooting" ironcially) the manual literally says "Both hot and cold water faucets must be turned on," but I don't have a hotwater outlet to begin with. When trying to run the diagnostic mode, only the sensing fill light blinks.. I tried unplugging it for an hour and I when plugged it back in it still wanted to put more water into it regardless of where the dial is set. I just want to run the stupid drain/spin but that is the only mode that won't run. I'm so tired.
That sounds like a very annoying issue. from what i’m understand it seems to be trying to run a full cycle no matter what cycle is selected. Seems like a control board issue. Have you tried doing a manual test to run the pump?
@@DrummerboysWashersAndMore Well,, I finally ran the diagnostic mode and it seems to be working the way it should. I just threw out a used HE washer s week ago, thinking it was broken. LOL
