I love the way you sew. Great tips! I use painters tape on my machine sometimes for hemming process and guides. Use my hand to line up fabric with tape, don't move hand once you start sewing so fabric is always lined up. I also have a dritz magnet that I can use for fabric guide. I have found that even after sewing for years, I still have dips in stitches seam cause I look away or go to fast on the peddle. If you have a heavy peddle foot, better to sew a few inches, stop check your alignment, sew a few inches, check your alignment, than to try and go the long seam distance continuously. Thanks for sharing!
Yes! Cotton can certainly be used and will be easier to work with than linen. Cotton blends will do well too. Somebody told me they made this apron in a cotton canvas and was very pleased with it.
Shouldn’t it be a half inch seam allowance on the straps? Not a 1”. Love this tutorial. I’m making an art apron in canvas, then I’m going to decorate it with paints and stamping
You can use any amount you want for your seam allowance however it will change the size of the pieces you need to cut out from the fabric. So if you need to cut out a 10-inch square which included a 1/2 seam allowance in that 10-inches you'll need to cut out an 11" square instead if you want to use an inch seam allowance (Just adding in that extra 1/2" on all the sides) Does that make sense? And really, for the apron body you could cut it the size I do in the video and still use an inch seam allowance with no problem. It's not a fitted garment. I would add an inch to the width of the straps if you want to use an inch seam allowance there or they will be much narrower. Thanks for watching. This is a great project for learning how to sew.
MISTAKE SPOTTED: Sew the straps with a 1/2 inch seam allowance. I say use an inch seam allowance but it's a 1/2 inch.

Hello
Beautiful work, but may I ask can cotton fabric also be used?

Oops! thanks for catching that. The straps are sewn with a 1/2 inch seam allowance. I'm glad you like the tutorial anyway ;-)
