I was taught in home ec to always cut around the pattern only from the right side all the way around. That was 47 years ago & I still cut that way lol! I also was taught to press as I go. Funny how some things just stay with you.
I bought your pattern and sewed a large size but still found the apron came out a wee bit on the tight side. If I wanted to make the next one a couple inches bigger, would it be safe to say it would all work out if I cut the fabric 2” larger than the large pattern pieces? Plus I’d like the bib not so high up, so could I shorten it, yet make the straps that much longer? Please advise. I really love this style apron and your step by step are spot on making it pretty easy even for beginners like me. Thank you
Hi Pauline- you work fast!! I would recommend adding 2 inches on both sides of the apron front only and the same on side seam of each back piece. Leave the bib but then add 4 inches or so to the end of the straps and adjust if necessary. That will mean you need 1.75 m of fabric to begin with rather than 1.5m. Just shout if you get stuck. Thanks 😊
All finished now Jenni, I’ve embroidered the bib, I emailed you a photo. I’ll take another pic and send it to you with all the hems done and threads cut. again, thank you for a fab tutorial, I’ll be trying it in all different fabrics, needle cord will be next..;)
For those of us who can’t PDF: Will you please help us by giving the measurements so we can cut out without the PDF. That would be a lifesaver. Just discovered your channel and love it. Especially thankful for your helpful tips.
gaylemae yes that works too but this pattern is aimed and beginners and I didn’t want people to feel limited if they don’t have a large cutting mat and rotary cutter. I also still prefer my shears for projects- I thinks it’s the noise of metal cutting through fabric!!

I love this apron especially over a dress. When I was a child my nanny always had an apron Over her dress so I suppose thus is why I love them
I love those shears!
Can you give me more details about the scissors you are using? Those are massive. They look heavy and very durable.
They are special edition ones from Ernest Wright here in the UK - gifted for my 40th birthday - but I recommend their dressmaking shears too.
I'm in the US and would love to be able to download this patter from your site. Any chance that is possible ?
THE Buckeye Country Homestead yes there is a US pdf pattern on my website Jenni-smith.co.uk 😊
@@JenniSmithSews Thank You so much I just downloaded it and can't wait to start sewing !!!
Hi
Do you have a sewing tutorial
I would like to see your techniques on sewing this super apron thanks so much
Using weights to hold the pattern and a rotary cutter is much easier and faster with superior accuracy.
gaylemae yes that works too but this pattern is aimed and beginners and I didn’t want people to feel limited if they don’t have a large cutting mat and rotary cutter. I also still prefer my shears for projects- I thinks it’s the noise of metal cutting through fabric!!
I completely agree!
Is the address and dollar amount on your site?
Where do I get the pattern

The BEST way make sure fabric is on the straight of grain is to measure.
