Good evening, I made my apron and being that this is my first garment (other than a mask) I am very proud of myself. I will first start by mentioning that I am a plus size woman with plenty of rolls for baking, bottom for bouncing and hips for couching my bones. My cutout and put together will have to be tweaked to make it larger in the neck and if I want my bottom to hide the back straps as well. I am pleased all the same. I also want to make mine longer. Thank you. When I put my pockets on I will take a picture and send it to you.
@@OurGabledHome I'm having a hard time with the pattern. I need more measurements to figure it out. The depth of the neck and arm curves etc. Or am I missing something? Thank you for the video!

I was reading some of the most recent comments ( 2yrs old!) and followed the link for the pattern. It led me to your store where I have to purchase it. Just found you! Looking forward to making one of these aprons. Thank you! Unfortunately, it looks like IKEA has discontinued the Vardagen table cloth. The only linen one I found is the Ombonad (59" x 98") for $39.99. I found linen-look fabric (85% viscose, 15% linen) on sale for $6.49/yd in twelve solid colors (52" wide) and 100% linen at $10.99/yd (width not shown) today at Joann in case this is helpful.
I know they discontinued the Vardagen but this is similar: www.ikea.com/us/en/p/ombonad-tablecloth-natural-beige-50508911/ but JoAnn's is a great place, too ~ Anja
Wow! Thank you so much for making this video! I was getting discouraged with what I was finding online. I found some scrap fabric at a thrift store and wanted to make this exact pattern!

Hi. Thank you for this paternities. I don't see the exact measurements of the pattern except for notations, one 36"meaning length (?) and 13" given as a neck opening measurement. What am I missing?

Yes, you can make the straps 4" wide - or adjust them to your liking. The neck scoop is flexible, too. Some people like it higher and others lower. Any suggestions on how to print it? I see the 36" from shoulder hem to bottom hem(I think), and each shoulder strap is 4" wide, but how deep is the neckline and the arm openings? Do you cut this on the fold? If so, how wide is it from centre seam to outer most hem?
You don't need to print it unless you want to blow it up. The arm scoop can be about ½ the total length (18") and the neck scoop it totally up to you. The total width is about 36", too. You can also make a "trial apron" from cheap muslin or any leftover fabric to see if you like it. Hope this helps!

Have you downloaded the free pattern? See if you can find the measurements in there. Let me know if not. Have fun making it!
@@OurGabledHome hello, I am also wondering what the measurements are between both of the outer straps? the pattern only shows 13.5" between the inner two straps. Am I missing something?
@@kristingetz2386 hoping that I understand your question right: the apron is more or less square. Depending on your size, it is about 36" wide. If in doubt, I recommend making a "trial apron" from some leftover fabric or cheap muslin and then adjust from there. Hope this helps!
I have subscribed but I only get a sourdough download. How do I get the spring pattern please?
The apron pattern I meant !!
@@alisoncooper7227 I am so sorry about that. I recently made some changes and obviously still have to iron out some wrinkles. Can you send an email to anja@ourgabledhome.com and I'll make sure you get the pattern?
I love this, just what I've been looking for thank you.
Yay!! I am so glad you like this apron! Happy sewing 💛 ~ Anja
help I didn't see any measurements for the scoop? depth and width..angle.. only 13 .5 for across the front?
no measurements for the width? I only got one page on the download. Maybe measurements on second Page? thanks
It's a very flexible pattern that is pretty much square. The total length is about 36". You can also make a "trial" apron from left over fabric or cheap muslin. Hope this helps and good luck!
@@OurGabledHome thank you!
Thanks for the tutorial, love the style of apron but I can’t seem to find the free download of the pattern. Are you able to help? Thanks
Here it is: us19.campaign-archive.com/?u=0e28e470f2efe29c7415d3fb7&id=b1d51ee97f 💛 ~ Anja
Thank you! Blessings!
You are so welcome, Rosie and I am glad you like this pattern 😊 ~Anja
how many yards of fabric would you say you need to make this?
I am so math challenged but I get the Ikea tablecloth that is 57" x 126" and I think I could make about 3 aprons out of it. I hope this helps at all 😏
@@OurGabledHome Right! ok, thank you!
Are you folding the hem over once or twice before sewing?
It depends on your preference but I have done both ~ Anja
Love it , do you sell them to the public, thanks
Thank you so much! Unfortunately, I don't have time to make them for sale ~ Anja
Thank you SO much for sharing
You are welcome and I am glad you enjoyed this tutorial!
Did she just turn the fabric once? Linnen will fray. Maybe I couldn’t make it out properly. Definitely turn twice or serge/ zickzack it.
For more longevity, it's better to turn the edges twice however with a tight stitch I haven't had any problems with fraying fabric. Thank you for sharing 😊 ~ Anja
@@OurGabledHome I agree. Twice is good. Just couldn’t tell in the video. Looked like only once to me. Enjoy your sewing.
Beautiful!
Thank you so much 💛
Going to make one today for my mother. Its her birthday
That would be such a nice present! Let me know how it turns out!
Our Gabled Home she was very happy with it! I tried to completly line it, which made the shoulders a little less neat, but the total very sturdy
@@troebeliewoep That is fantastic! Thank you for sharing! If you like, send me a picture or tag me with it on social media. Happy birthday to your mother 💜
I checked the pattern and it says it’s for small to medium folks. How would you make this fit a tall woman with a little extra around the hips and stomach (the 2 kids type)
Thanks!
You can add about 1“ down the middle and if needed another 1“ down the center of each armhole ~ Anja
I was able to download the instructions, but it did not let me save the pattern, just the instructions. Please advise.
I so sorry about that! Can you send an email to anja@ourgabledhome.com and we'll sort it out?
Thank you so much for the pattern 😁
Happy sewing!!
Will a link be emailed to download the actual pattern? I only got an image of the pattern...

Would love a measurement for the underarm scoop. How far down do I cut?
The nice thing about this pattern is that it is very flexible. You can totally adjust it to your body and taste. My apron underarm scoop is about half way down. I also recommend that you make a "trial apron" from some scrap fabric or cheap muslin. Hope this help!
hi sweetie, love this, have another question, do you know how many yards this takes? Also what is the measurement ACROSS the middle part?
I see the 36” from top to bottom, but not the width measurement?
TIA
It is pretty much a square pattern, so about 36" across. Hope this helps and thank you for your sweet comment 💛 ~ Anja
Is the pattern mo longer available? I'm getting an error message. Thank you
I am having some website issues that we're working on. Can you check back in a day or two? Thank you so much for your patience 💛 ~ Anja
Website is up and running again 😊
