People think he "overacted" Sisko? I say NAY. The intensity of Brooks' work in that character is what made Sisko my favorite Captain. He had FIRE in his belly!
He's not overrated and I like him as Sisko but I did notice his acting ability went down a lot when he got angry or had to do some hard acting chops whereas Patrick with Picard seem to be able to play any role and be comfortable in them, hence why he got the big bucks.
I actually really like Kira's reaction after the speech. Normally, she's not above bullying Quark a little bit herself, but here, it's like she's about to start and then is like, "nah, I think Sisko covered it."
Well, of course. It's just that she would normally threaten Quark herself, and the juxtaposition here makes it look like she's thinking, "nope I can't top that." Sisko has a flair for issuing beatdowns.

I like the voice acting done by the DS9 cast. When Kira tells Odo what the Bajoran government's position is, you can tell it is something she doesn't believe in but has to say because they're in charge, someone like her knows it is more about the determination of the resistance fighters than it is the tools they use.
The point has merit though. A resistance still needs weapons to fight, and determination will only get you so far. Kira doesn't like it, but she can't argue with the logic. Without Hagath's support, the Resistance wouldn't have succeeded.

And THEN! He told her to leave his shop "before I say something unkind." Fantastic showcase of how intelligently devious Garak is. Things like that and this video are why I love DS9's writing so much. Having a curse word, apart from being impossible on this T.V show, even sparingly would just feel severely out of place.

One of Quark's best episodes- where he finds out exactly what his limits are in the pursuit of money and whether latinum is worth more than his friendships with the DS9 crew.
This is really an excellent scene. This is one of those rare instances where Trek really shows both sides of the argument. The station personnel are infuriated at the idea of these "lords of war" doing business in their station, yet still have to admit that without them, the Bajorans would still be ruled by Cardassia.
Sisko is one of those captains to keep on his good side. I would love to see the combination of Picard, Sisko, and Janeway in action taking on a common enemy.

This right here is one of the best exchanges in all of Star Trek and why you want theatre actors in major roles. The gravitas and inflections in those words, in a scene like this, makes even the actors forget they're acting and you get the best genuine body responses. Quark shifted, unfolded his arms, and opened his eyes wide. He seemed to be staring straight into the face of fright itself as his smugness was ripped away from him like a coat torn off his shoulders leaving him naked and cold. THAT is why DS9 is the BEST acted Star Trek of the 90's. Every single actor could bring full weight to bear in all of their scenes. It was truly a very deep, emotional show.
nailing quark to the wall would give a whole new meaning to thw phrase just hanging around i'll bring the hammer anyone gonna bring the nails? oh bring a frame big enough to hang around quark so he can shout ive been framed
in all of this episode, Quark never bothers to explain to anyone that he is only doing this because he is in debt that could result in him losing his bar. No one ever asks him why he's doing it, they all just assume he's a bad person and offer no sympathy. Given how much Quark has contributed to the station and to some of the characters personally, you'd think they'd be willing to hear him out or at least try to talk him out of doing this.
I give Odo and Kira the right to be furious about this, but Sisko is a starfleet Captain and a Federation citizen. They are more than willing to see entire worlds get destroyed because of their precious Prime Directive. They don't really have the right to take the high ground in this case if you ask me.

Sisko: "...and I will NAIL you to the WALL!" Kira: "Um... uh... something to look forward to." Kira: *thinking* "Damn it, I could have done better than that."
