Friendly Surf Competition Portrush

Kayakers meet regularly to surf at Portrush Northern Ireland. This was our second happily informal competition for sea kayaks, general purpose kayaks and, of course, surf kayaks. Great craic, well done everyone.

This looks incredible you guys must have some serious skills to use so many types of boats and to be able to bring them back upright!!! Is this a club thing or just for professionals? Also how is this scored I heard points being given at the end but don’t know how you get those?

Thanks yes there is a lot of skill but that's just a matter of of practice. This was just a group of friends running a competiton to add some spice to our paddling with points for getting a long run, tricks and style.

Obviously a lot of skill involved, but mainly looks like huge fun! Do you ever clock your max speed in the surf with a GPS or the like?

Initial panic then huge grins. Good question about speed, I have clocked 30kph, should make a little video with a speed overlay.
