Great video, thank you for sharing. I enjoyed the comfort of the eddy near North Stack once I had managed to get into it but that tiderace, from the comfort of my chair, looked like fun.

      Thanks Ian.
Ha.. yes, the chair will help but the little eddy was a brilliant addition to a nice race

beautiful, but what’s the purpose of the hideous background music?

Damn this makes me want to paddle. Nice video! We have a similar-looking coastline on Lake Superior here in the states called Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore - lots of rock gardens and it can get lumpy...but it’s only about 7 miles of paddling.

I just googled it. That looks well worth a paddle ...
Thanks for watching! Sounds like you should go paddling 😁

"Best you'll get from me" says the Geologist. Did you check out the virgo and the decklines (assuming that one had the little front hatch) ideal boat for cave exploration.

Haha.. maybe I should have tried a bit harder with my geology.
There were several Virgos in this group. They're probably well suited to the caves and rocks.
The Valkyrie is, though I need to remember the rudder to avoid bashing it and need to embrace the scratches as the come..

Great video, I'm just back from doing that trip, it's world class and I finally met Ian. Can't wait to do it again.

Thanks David. Yep, it was a good one. I really enjoyed it. I'll probably take my wife's Delphin next time, the Valkyrie was a bit interesting in the steeper waves.
Maybe we'll meet up there - or if you find yourself in the South..

Looks like a fun day was had, great to see the cockpit cover done good. The coast in the North of Wales looks magnificent. Those caves look like fun :)

I’ll be in Anglesey in a few months with a ruddered boat. I notice your rudder was down in the race, did you try rudder up ?

    • @GoneKayaking
      @GoneKayaking  8 місяців тому

      Hi there,
I didn't try with the rudder up to be fair.
The Valkyrie is quite rudder dependent with very little traction aft of the cockpit.
I'd think a more traditional shape is probably better with the rudder up.
I suspect the Valkyrie would be manageable with the rudder up but the race there isn't my first choice of spots to experiment as it would be hard work to get back if I messed up and drifted off downstream...
I expect to get back to Anglesey later this year so maybe we'll meet up on location 😜
      Thanks and all the best
      Darren
