A wee trip along the coast with my friend Eric. Rain, swell, tides, temperature down to 3 Celsius (Yes I know the Swedes would be outside lighting the BBQ).
We had to rescue a kid on a paddle board at Portballintrae last summer. He went past the shelter of the harbour wall and was not strong enough to paddle back against the wind.
Well, a few big waves bouncing about out there buddy but you dealt with them like a pro. Great video great trip. I have been thinking about getting a set of them LOMO Pogies. However, I noticed you stopped using them very quickly (Are they any good)
Thanks, I enjoy a few waves. Good spot the pogies were cheap and warm but slightly too long. I will keep using them, I only had a hand out to operate the camera. I never wear gloves because I almost drowned once when I couldn't feel the release tab, although the deck popped off easily when I started to kick.
@@davidpoots8362 That's good news (Not that you almost drowned) But the pogies are warm to wear. But knowing me I would probably ware glove too, That's the one big issue I have, my hands are always chilly, Been like it all my life ( My Mother use to say Cold Hands Warm Heart ) lol Cheers mate and once again great run.
Thanks for your video! Tell me, is it convenient to use such mittens with a Grendlan oar? With the Grendlan oar (unlike the Euro) you have to intercept the oar (supports, Eskimo roll) - to a wider part. Or do you only use them for rowing?
@@davidpoots8362 Thank you! I will buy these. Is there another option - are they not successful?www.ekayak.ru/images/detailed/8/shittensweb_1296x-2.jpg

Yes, we had a lot of incidents last year. It really is important to have good equipment, training & skills
That was a choppy one David. At least the rain stopped for you eventually.
Yes the camera flattens out the waves, there were a lot of support strokes and we almost turned round, but it flattened out once we got near dunluce.
Typiskt, you can´t trust weather report....but beautiful with rainbow, really choppy, hope you will have a great 2024!
Thanks Dan, so very different to your winter. Looking forward to your non paddling adventures, but spring will come.
@@davidpoots8362 Thanks, it might be winter paddling also, just little more difficult.🤗
David, where did you get those poggies? I've never seen them big enough for a Greenland paddle.
From Amazon, Lomo poggies. Inexpensive, nice and warm. Slightly too long for my drysuit sleeves but easy to turn them down. Well worth the money.
Taiwan has a cold wave in winter, and the sea temperature is also 18 degrees.
3 degrees. I should not be able to move my hands.
I've been watching your videos, paddling in Taiwan looks great and some very skillful paddlers.

Yes they work well with a Greenland paddle, it's easy to pull hands out and roll if needed, much better than gloves
