I'll be really interested to hear the opinions of someone who isn't a Boox affiliate
I'm one of the people who never could get behind e-readers (like early Kindles) until they added a frontlight, so I've been SHOCKED at how much of a joy this device is to read on. I'm not sure what is different about this screen, but it's fantastic and - maybe because of the super light form factor - I feel like I will sometimes end up using this for reading even over dedicated e-readers. Still experimenting with all that this can do, but I agree I also don't miss BSR. Thanks for the video!
Well be aware that the Go models do NOT have a frontlight.
@@bellissimo4520 The Go Color 7 has one. I know the 10.3 doesn't. I've just been surprised that reading has been so easy for me on it without a frontlight - I've always thought that was necessary, but coming to realize that maybe it's not after all.
@@lurkingtablelamp4539 On my old Nova Color 3, I would read without the frontlight when outside, and I had really bright environment light. But inside, I found the frontlight necessary most of the time. Maybe they improved this with the newer screeens?
@@bellissimo4520I think part of the difference is that the colour e-ink screens are darker, and appear to always need backlight on when reading indoors. The regular black and white e-ink screens are not as dark. The first kindle models for example did not have any back light, and they were just fine. I used kindle keyboard 2 for almost 10 years: no backlight available.

Always good to see more competition in the E-Ink notebook space. Currently we have the BOOX GO 10.3, Kindle Scribe, Kobo Elipsa 2E, Remarkable 2, and Supernote Nomad as viable contenders in this space.
will there be a follow up comparison between boox go color 7 & the boox page 7? contemplating whether to get either of them for reading manga & comics.
Mine was delivered yesterday and its a treat, I haven't yet worked out the best way to organise shelves and folders for epubs though. Theyve given so many options I'm a bit overwhelmed. So far theyre in dropbox and the annotations and read progress seems to sync back up to dropbox.
Yeah, you have all the options, which is a plus, but as you get to use it you will find the ones you use and ones you don't, and you can just hide or ignore all the others!
It had 82% battery out of the box. I played with it for 4 hours including writing and firmware updates and installing apps and it had 72% at bed time.
How incredible is the battery life??
Glad I didn’t grab a Supernote A5X last fall. By waiting a few months, I save a few ounces plus over $300 CAD, get a better display and all the features that are missing from my Scribe. Should be a real treat.
Absolutely, it really is. And the price is going to make it a difficult one to say no to in favour of the others.

Like your clearing video's so much! And very interested in Boox 10.3 so very curious to see more of your experiences. One thing of particular attention for me would be the palm rejection. As a relative newbee to e-ink notepads and having just tried some of friends (remarkable 2 and supernote a5x), and having read that Boox might not be so good at this palm rejection, what are your experiences with that on the boox go 10.3? Palm rejection is always good on Boox. It wasn't on the first boox devices that I reviewed, but it is good now. :-)
That is impressive. I've been messing with my Boox device recently and come to appreciate just what they offer yet still there is allot to learn. As with most things, its not about intelligence but about becoming familiar with the device. On that subject, while I'm here... I just learned how to add black pages into PDFs but does anyone know if I can delete them if I've added one by mistake?

Kit, Question: I want to combine my Kindle and Kobo books on this device. Can the Kindle and Kobo books apps increase the font to a decent size for reading? I know in the respective devices themselves the fonts can be adjusted to large print. Was wondering if the apps on both can adjust the font size as well. Thanks for your great videos on these devices. I appreciate it.
You should be able to adjust the font seize in the apps. I can on my boox Palma; there should be no reason why they would block this function for this other Boox. But I did not test this Boox, as I don’t have one.

I have a remarkable 2 and think its a splendid machine; compared to the remarkable how does the Boox Go 10.3 compare with the pen feel, how it write ect. curious if it has reached that same feel as the remarkable. Looks fantastic and it having the case and pen all with it is really nice feature.
It's interesting that the shift key is non-responsive. Supernote had the same issue when you and I tested the desktop app (beta at the time) pass through for a wired keyboard.

Contrast and clarity are so good, it even makes me want to ditch my color e-ink tablet!
Text on screen is so close to pen tip, because there is no frontlight and other layers which are present on Kaleido screens.

Can you please do some web browsing? I'm trying to evaluate if this device is good for reading online documentation.
Web browsing is not as good as on a BSR device. If that is your main thing, consider either the Note Air 3C or Tab Ultra C Pro. 🙂 If you only need to go to the web to download the PDFs and then read them in the neo reader app, you will be fine.

Regarding speakers, I think that putting speakers in and leaving backlight out in a device like this is simply a nonsense.
I am in analysis paralysis trying to decide whether to buy Boox Note Air 3 or wait another year for 300ppi. Previously everybody said there is no significant difference between 227 and 300 but as soon as boox added 300ppi to the portfolio this is a major difference...
There absolutely is a visible difference between 227 and 300dpi. Text is much clearer, and I find that I need to zoom in less on PDFs with tiny writing. Written text looks ultra-crisp too.
Not to add fuel to the analysis paralysis fire but waiting for the Supernote A5X2 is the last piece of this tortuous puzzle fo me.
the sweet spot for me will be the Note Air 3 plus which must be coming this Autumn.

Yes, slightly better writing feel. The supernote has a great bespoke platform for notes, but the Boox gives you access to any Android app. That's how you make the call, which is those is more appealing.

As an addition to your tab mini C, I would get this. Tab mini C is one of the best colour eink devices going, but I don't think you need two colour einks in your life. Hope that helps!

So do you only see magnetic interference when the magnet is actually there? So the second the magnet is removed the interference goes?
Yeah, correct, basically, take it out when you need accuracy across the entire screen.

I cant decide between this and the NA3C. I am going to be a med student (physiotherapist) in september, and I am not sure about do I really need the color or not. That is the only thing that holds me back... :(
I'm in similar shoes. I've resolved to go B&W for now, since I do in fact have a nice 11" strong tablet for reading color things. Once I realized that, I felt free.
Go is better. Color e-ink technology needs some years to fully develop. Go does not have a frontline so its writing experience is fantastic. It is the best E-ink tablet available. Personally, I am looking to buy an A4 size version.
I only wish e-ink smartphones become bezel-less, slimmer and much light weighted.

Anyway, very informative stuff here. Love how close the e-ink screen to the glass cover is. Gives a more paper-like feel/analog vibe to it. Somehow not a big fan of the launcher, it looks awkward.
... eep, I may have missed the mark on that one then! Sorry. Yeah, BSR is very impressive, and maybe we'll get somewhere eventually when I will be able to recommend videos on eink!

An important question: Is the lack of interior lighting a very negative and unacceptable thing?
I am confused between it and the Note Air 3, but I like the Go10.3 more because of its light weight, thin thickness, and accuracy. However, the issue of internal lighting worries me.

It’s amazing what Boox has managed to do with ancient technology. They managed to repackage it and charge outrageous amounts of money for it. It’s is indeed impressive.
It’s probably the cheapest 10” eink tablet on the market right now.
Ancient tech? iPads don't even get close to 300 dpi, these are paper replacement devices not full on tablets, which are pointless anyway, or 2000 dollars for an iPad I can buy one of these and a high end gaming laptop and spend less then an iPad pro for movies

I think that 's an unfair comment. E-ink just doesn't need the latest and greatest technology to function well. I guess they could use the latest chipset but how much would that add to the cost? The bottleneck isn't the processor, it's the screen and the screen they are using is pretty much the latest tech available in b&w.
