    It is nearly perfect, but I really wish they would release a 13.3 inch version of the Go. Nearly all of my reading is A4 size PDFs which is difficult to read for extended periods on anything smaller. In a future review, could you try to show how reading of A4 PDFs is like on this?

    Which device would you recommend to a college student (physics) that is good for class note taking, reading and self-studying? I value the split screen option (as it allows me to read and write at the same time), the paper-like feel, a device size that big enough to write freely but not too big to stop me reading in the couch, allows me to read in a darker enviroment, allows me to play audiobooks, allows me to record the screen+audio and match the notes to the audio when they were taken (is there any good way to do this besides the lenovo smart paper)? The more I watch your video (2nd time) the more I am wanting to hold and use this product. The firmware 3.5.3 is a fantastic set of changes. As others have mentioned I also would be curious about a BSR version, but only if there was a switch to turn off/on to conserve battery like a “low power mode”. It would be even cooler if you could configure what you want to switch off in low power mode. Incredible value

    @MyDeepGuide Voja Amazing review, I share most of your impressions, although I have to disagree on the back glued edge, if you take a look with a magnifying glass you can see it is not glue, it is a plastic lip they positioned there and I believe it is very clever, it protects the PU leather from detaching or curious fingernails trying to peel it off, and it also gives a very subtle grip to the tablet without being too noticeable, whenever I pick it up from my table I thank them because that bit of friction between the tablet surface and my finger skin makes it way easier to hold.

  • @steverolfeca
    @steverolfeca 5 місяців тому +1

    On the "sharp edge issue": I bought two Amazon Scribes last year, both with the fabric folio cover. The edges on early Folios were poorly-finished, and threads were unravelling after just a few days. By the time I bought the second one, they'd made a running change to the cover- a heat-treated rolled edge sealed in the threads, making it look and feel more in line with the tablet. I just put the back of my Go 10.3 under a magnifier, and sure enough, the edge of the pleather backing has a similar heat seal. It's perfectly smooth and doesn't catch my fingernail, but it is a couple of thou proud of the edge of the alloy frame. Also, the bead has a much smaller diameter than the one on the Scribe's cover, which probably is why it felt almost sharp to you. Mind you, I can only talk about my production device- perhaps the review sample you were sent was a pre-production sample, and not quite as smooth?

    Busy week, didn't have a chance to respond after receiving mine the day after this unboxing... I understand why you posted a glowing assessment! Lacking your experience with Android (IOS user since iPhone 3GS), I'm still learning what to remove or minimize in the UI to reduce distraction. Still, it feels very streamlined, and I don't miss the front light. The v3.5.3 firmware is already a big step up from the NA3C I tried out in January. Love the insert menu in Notes, but wish that access to Freemark worked across more apps. Sadly, the case is not lefty-friendly. Of course, I represent just 10% of the public, so that won't affect 90% of users.

    Received mine today. It's very nice, and I love how thin and close to the table it is. The stylus is nice, and the writing experience is great. The case is okay, although I'm not sure about the detachable flap.
    I am disappointed by the weak magnet that attaches the pen to the tablet - not only does the pen easily fall off, but when it is clasped in by the case, it slips in between the case and tablet.
    Also, all five of the spare tips I received as part of the package were bent (Boox has been contacted).
    Overall (and so far), I like it, especially given the price.
    As this is my first Boox device, have you produced a dummies guide to getting started with such devices?

    For a long time I've been looking for an e-ink device with as few layers between the screen as possible, for the best visual quality. It is looking like my search is finally over.
    I want to use it for manga especially. I know Boox devices didn't support dithering unless you switched to a faster, more ghosted refresh rate. Is that still the case, or is there a setting for dithering independent of refresh rate mode? Dithering is a must for any image viewing or else there is severe banding in the image, but I also want the most, non-ghosted refresh at the same time.
    Edit: Kind of answering my own question here, but at ua-cam.com/video/aPK8vXr-nYY/v-deo.html I see you select an option called "Image smoothing" for dithering. That is great to see.

      I don't read these languages, but you can set system language to Arabic, you can download any writing app (like MS Word) or keyboard if the native ones don't support your specific variant well enough, and if I connect a physical keyboard with USB or bluetooth, there's Arabic and two versions of Persian in the layout options.
      BUT NOTE that apps you download are rarely optimized for e-ink screens so they can lag and have other bugs especially with pen input - typing is OK - and that some functions aren't available in those languages, like handwriting recognition (turning it to print style text.)

    Well done for stepping back from your strange first thoughts video where this device was “identical” to the Remarkable, to the extent that you suggested it would never be released for legal reasons (albeit it would have been nice to admit outright that you made a mistake). That was a bizarre stance to take on such an interesting release. I think the lesson to be learned here is not to be too militant in your thoughts until you get hands on - for better or worse you have a great influence in this space, so ill chosen words can change a lot of buying decisions.

    • @MyDeepGuide
      @MyDeepGuide  5 місяців тому

      There is nothing strange or bizarre about that. If you are attempting to make a case that this device is not copying the RM2 design, then you really need to reevaluate your objectivity.
      If you compare this device to literally any other device on the market, the only other devices that it would be most similar to would be the Remarkable 2 and the Huawei Matepad Paper, but the Matepad Paper has an equal frame and some more differences to make it stand out further from either of these two. So, if you really are serious about what you are suggesting here, you should check why it is exactly that you are unwilling to call a spade a spade.
