I'm giving this a thumbs up simply because I love this woman's calming ,stabilizing voice! She immediately helped me relax and feel better! I don't care how the video turns out ( just kidding.) I just love her voice!
I had California Closets put a set of drawers and shelves, top and bottom rods, and a couple of pull-out scarf hangers, in my standard closet with sliding doors and I don’t even need a dresser. It’s great.
@ here’s one that we used, www.dkhardware.com/hafele-80767621-scarf-rack-tag-synergy-elite-collection-5-hook-11-7-8-with-full-extension-slide-matt-nickel-mat-product-6607721.html?nbt=nb%3Aadwords%3Ax%3A21643916082%3A%3A&nb_adtype=pla&nb_kwd=&nb_ti=&nb_mi=2663876&nb_pc=online&nb_pi=6607721&nb_ppi=&nb_placement=&nb_li_ms=&nb_lp_ms=&nb_fii=&nb_ap=&nb_mt=&gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQiAgdC6BhCgARIsAPWNWH2LJp7fPf54dgSHD5pCYQafpMPAzpYF8ADnUtLbjE5y6aco3kAXbf0aAjiDEALw_wcB
Thank you thank you. I have a 1905 house with a small closet and deep return walls and your ideas of putting rods at the end was brilliant. I have hated my closet but now I'm very excited to redesign it❤
Several times, particularly in a girl's bedroom, I have removed the doors altogether and hung a pair of beautiful floor length curtains (sometimes matching the fabric of the window curtains) with bowtie closures. I mount the rod on the outside of the closet above the closet header. Sometimes I reframe the opening with a more beautiful molding, particularly if I have re-skirted the entire room. This eliminates the bulkiness (and squeaks) of the bi-folds (when folded back, which usually is their permanent state) and softens the room. It is a feminine look, but I could do the same in a boy's room making the design more playful.
We have a 6’ closet with a 4’ door opening. We put 12” x 24” shelves on each end leaving the 4’ opening for hanging clothes. Up on the top self I have some fun cloth baskets for underwear, socks, bras and pajamas. The shelves can act like a dresser or for whatever. I have plastic shoe boxes on the bottom shelf. From Amazon I got the multiple stacking pant hangers that have a small hook that you put another hanger on. This way I hang 3-4 capris vertically with only one hanger on the rid. I also got clips to put on hangers for shirts, hanging 3-4 vertically, again with only one hanger on the rod. I stack like clothes or colors together for organization and ease of finding the clothes. Pants hang 2 on one regular pant hanger. This method allows more clothes in the closet in an organized way for very minimal investment, just make sure your clothes rod is very secure to hold the weight. Closet built ins can be great but costly. This works for us for our vacation home.
Thank you for the suggestions. My room has high ceilings; the closet bifold doors. My problem is the shelf is right at the same height as the top of the door frams. There's very little space to get anything on the shelf and all the wall space above is wasted. Your suggestions? Tear out the top of the wall? :D The good thing is there are two closets in this bedroom. The dream? I have a dormer upstairs that I would love to convert to a room closet.
Great video, Liz Bianco is My Design Sherpa. Looking forward to your next upload from you. I smashed the thumbs up button on your content. Keep up the fantastic work! Your tips on maximizing closet space are so practical. Have you considered how different lighting options can further enhance the functionality and aesthetic of a smaller closet design?
I’ve contemplated removing my return walls to create a built-in look ( think ikea wardrobes, but built in). Besides the obvious mess and expense of construction, am I overlooking any design issues that will be problematic?
Absolutely! The issue then becomes, what to attach doors to? The doors need somewhere to land or secure to. Options without doors work as well. Wardrobes give you the privacy of doors with full access inside or curtains across the entire space add softness, sound insulation and color! So, you have choices!
The right hand door looks odd. The top shows it inside the bedroom, but the bottom is inside the closet. Bi-fold doors fold into the room, not into the closet.
Here's the walk in video, go watch! ua-cam.com/video/jvpqlorLPh8/v-deo.html

A million thanks for showing a normal size closet. None of the closets in my 1960 house are walk-in closets.
Mine either!🙏

I love the scarf holder accessory! I'll have to add that to the list for the walk in video! Thank you for reminding me!
could you link a pull out scarf hanger? thank you

Hooray! That’s are exactly the time period that hated closets! It’s a good solution!

@@anyaamasova6607 absolutely brilliant! And sound insulating 👩🎨💕

Excellent! I’ve got more🎥👩🎨
I wish I'd known you all my life! Thankyou for all this info!!

Thank you so much. You’re video is very helpful to me.

It sounds like you maximized the space well!👩🎨💕

You could make those top shelves less deep, but it’s still a struggle to maneuver. I say go for the dream!
Just subbed remodeling so the perfect time to discover you
Awesome! Get on my email list as well for goodies!
this was so helpful. I will double hang on either side and drawers in the center. Im not sure what to tdo with my return walls they are deep
Hooks!

I’m considering it as I plan the closets! Lighted rods!
I like the European approach- no closets but built ins
Me too! Going to do a wardrobe or two👩🎨🎥
Great video! I am 4ft 10 so I'd need a ladder too. Hubby is tall & has lotza hats & big My small shoes fit on a door hanging thingy.
Give him the top rows! That’s what we do.🙏
Is there a video of a closet this size in which the hanging bars have been moved as suggested successfully?
Not this one. But I did make over a small walk in. Similar principles apply! ua-cam.com/video/jvpqlorLPh8/v-deo.html

The doors will need somewhere to attach hinges to. Other than that, you gain the 6” thickness of the wall for more storage!
Crazy that you don’t show the renovated closet what was the point?
To discuss options for designing a small closet.🤔
perfect vidoe
What is the purpose of the return walls? Could someone renovate and eliminate the return wall?
Absolutely! The issue then becomes, what to attach doors to? The doors need somewhere to land or secure to. Options without doors work as well. See my other comment. Stick with quality brands. It can carry a ton of weight.
@ ok thanks for your response
What if you have no return walls, except for 16" at the top, on 5' 6"×2'3"×8' shared closet?
Not sure what you're asking. You don't have to worry about clearances. As far as the stuff, divide and conquer!
Definitely out of mind, doesn’t exist 😮
I have a closet in my room that hooks to the other bedroom. U can walk thru. It's very small and meant for 2 rooms. I live in a very old house.
That’s a great closer for kids to play through!
My closets are even smaller than the one you are showing in this video. I only have one closet that is slightly bigger.
Same roles apply, but you’ve gotta be creative!👩🎨
The right hand door looks odd. The top shows it inside the bedroom, but the bottom is inside the closet. Bi-fold doors fold into the room, not into the closet.
Huh 🤔?
That MC Escher is a mischief maker.
