I’ve gotten a lot of questions and comments about the artwork in the video! I painted all the art in my home and sell originals and art prints on my shop - artxsun.com if you’re interested. 🧡 thank you for all the kind comments! 🥺🙏🏾
I’m only a few moments into viewing your video and hey - totally NOT surprised that all the artwork is YOUR OWN. You radiate joy! Your obvious talent is also clearly shown in this very professional video. Well done✔ Okay….love the dog….a video ALWAYS needs to have a dog❤
that is SO true! Il lost everything after a fire. I swore to become a minimalist. And althoug, heaving nice things lost its meaning, i tool all the free stuff people gave me (clothing, hausehold items, etc.). And 10 years later, I have less stuff than when moving into my first appartment after the fire. Its like a muscle which has to be trained. Today, decluttering and not bringing stuff into my flat is second nature to me (or if i do, something else has to leave). I had 3,5 Big carton boyes at my last move (it was 7, but whe are a 2 person household, so I halved it), plus my plants.
Oh yeah that one resonated with me too. It made me dig a shirt out from the bottom of my drawer that I’ve been ignoring, but know I’ll never wear again. Why do I still have it??
My sister passed away last month. So I now have all of her stuff, and all of my stuff. I am overwhelmed. I have been looking at videos about downsizing and decluttering etc for days. You, my friend, Sunshine, addressed every single one of my concerns doubts questions and fears. You are my hero today. I may not start doing this for a month or so, grief is a weird thing. But you are in my "never want to lose these folder" now. And I will come back to you later. Thank you thank you thank you
I’m very sorry for your loss. I’ll be praying for you as you continue going through your grief. I’ve had so much loss in my life as well and it’s a heavy load.
Take the time to grieve and keep whatever of your sister that you love, but remember, her stuff was not her. Your memories of who she was will always be with you! The stuff is secondary to the memories donating her stuff is sharing her with others, and doesn't disrespect her in any way!
I’m so very sorry for your loss and thank you for sharing that. Take your time, my friend. Grief is definitely a process so don’t rush yourself, start when you are ready. I’m sending so many prayers of comfort and peace to you and your family. And whenever you are ready to start, know that you got this! Sending you love🙏🏾❤️
Please take your time to grieve and then allow additional grieving time when you need to sort through her stuff as I imagine it will be hard but you can love and honor her without keeping it all and maybe some items bring you joy so keep them.
@ went through and got all trash out first. I went in my craft room and asked myself , am I going to do this project . Do I have a place to put it . Clothes if it’s to small donate if tobig do the same. Others will I wear it , have I worn it, do I love it . Other areas do I use it , I only need one.
What I have learned is that if you don’t use something almost immediately, it becomes clutter. I was in the habit of shopping for my future self that never happened. I noticed that my husband would buy things and almost immediately wear them whereas I would save them for a special day that never happened. I now ask myself “can I wear this tomorrow?”
@Wanda, So relatable. I also bought clothes that I didn’t wear immediately and then forgot. Nowadays I force myself to wear it the next day/week. Much better.
i like that. i have 5 big bags filled of clothes and i left it for 3 months, never thought about anything in it but the second i tried to look thru it “i could wear this one day” “i loved wearing this” 😅 6 months later i’m still wearing the same pants and bra everyday😂😂😂
This is so true. I need to try to remember this. My issue is that I buy things off season so that they are more affordable and then forget that I have them!
This is the first declutter video where I have seen someone mention of fear of waste. That is a strong one for me and I appreciate that you brought it up.
So glad it resonated! It can hold you up because you feel guilty for throwing things away but it doesn’t do you or anyone else any favors by holding onto it. And some items just aren’t recyclable!
My favorite declutterring question comes from Dana K White: “If I needed this would I remember I had it?” So helpful because if I’d forget about it, it can go!
Oh wow, that’s a good one!!! And so true because if we forgot about it, how valuable could it really be in our lives. Great quote, thanks for sharing! 💛
LOVE Dana K. White! She was the first declutterring person I found, on podcasts a few yrs ago, & her style is perfect for me! I’ve fallen off for awhile now and I came across this video randomly and it’s really making me want to jump back in to it!! Lord knows that I have TOO much shit in my house😩😩😩
Good job! I’ve lived in my house 32 years and have been working on decluttering--room by room, one drawer or shelf at a time. I have found items that I didn’t even know what they were used for. It’s liberating and I’m a senior citizen who doesn’t want to leave a mess for my daughter.
I‘m a KonMari-Consultant and girl, I have to tell you how much joy watching your video sparked to me! I would have done a decluttering completely different but I loved your approach and you did so good! Congratulations! 🎈 I LOVE your home, it’s gorgeous how colorful you curated it and omg all the artwork! 🤩 You are a true sunshine and your energy is amazing! 😊
Oh wow, that’s awesome!! You’re so sweet! And thank you so much 🙏🏾 All the artwork is mine, I sell originals and art prints on my shop - artxsun.com ❤️❤️❤️
The netflix documentary buy now is a lifechanger. The quality of items we buy are not made to last, then we are ending up buying the same thing over and over. Companies are profiting, getting listed, but both the earth and people are losing out. The thing that works very well for me to avoid a purchase is to just keep it in my cart for a week or so. I later feel why on earth did i even want it. And folks, remove all shopping apps from ur phone. It helps a LOTTT. No 'dinggg' notifications to eat up your wealth.
i read a quote that stated, buy quality more expensive items that will last than cheaper items that need to be replaced over & over again. Or to simplify: quality over quantity.
I agree. I’ve saved a lot of money by stretching out my Amazon purchases. I only order every two weeks or so. The time allows me to really assess whether I need the item.
I'm not struggling with clutter, I clicked on this video to just have something to listen to while I work. But, I'm surprised with how much insight I've gained from this. I particularly resonated with keeping things because they represent who you think you should be or though you were going to be.
This was very encouraging to me. I have ADHD and tend to start many projects, buy a ton of things for it, and then never finish it. My phrase for 2025 is "finish it". What you said about art supplies was great. Thank you, I'm glad you showed up in my feed today. ✌️❤️
I love your 2025 phrase! And I can definitely relate - inspiration is amazing but sometimes, so many ideas can just distract us from finishing anything. You got this! 🙌🏾💕
Same here 😢 It's like a vicious cycle. I buy stuff, start my new project, drop it, but keep the stuff because of that guilty feeling that the project hasn't been done yet
minimial-ish will work good for you. my oldest has A.D.D. For the bedroom, I only allow 1 quilt, 3 bed sheet sets (including flannel, its cold here), 1 heating blanket, 2 reversable comforters, 1 cooling mattress topper. For the bathroom i allow 4 bath towels, 4 wash cloths, 4 face cloths, 4 hand towels, 2 hair drying towels. Everything is a breeze now, especially laundry.
To everyone who has loss a loved one and now have inherited their belongings, you have made me realize how much I don't want to do this to my family. I am decluttering mainly for that and to reclaim my space. I'm am truly sorry for your losses and pray that you all can forge ahead in dealing with their belongings.
I started decluttering back in 2016 when it slowly started on UA-cam. I started and then had to move. So when I moved seeing all the furniture and endless boxes, filled 3 bed 2 bath and 2 car garage full. Completely full. For 2 people with no kids. It took me years of decluttering and re-cluttering and slowly coming to terms with being ready to let things go. Went from a filled house down to a 1 bedroom apartment. It took 7 years but I did it. I just got divorced last month and having less to up and move into my family's home was such relief. I still sometimes wish I could get rid of more stuff. NGL I'm addicted to decluttering now. And have the bare minimum with nothing else to get rid of. Proud of you, and proud of everyone else embracing change, learning, minimizing objects, but growing self worth 💜
Congratulations for getting rid of the person/stuff which was useless and making ur life complicated and meaningless.I hope u feel light and less burdened
FIRST, Caroline Winkler uses the Wine Challenge: 'If I spilled red wine on it, how hard would I work to clean it?' Game changer for me!! There were things I thought sparked joy but completely failed the wine challenge. SECOND, I wrote down all of the questions you asked yourself! Awesome! The visual of the 30 day challenge was my A-ha moment. I would weigh what I decluttered, a great tool, but realized I need the counting challenge to stay motivated. THANK YOU
@natv55 my friend sent her husband and kids camping for 3 days, she worked from 7am til 2am sorting it all out so they could rearrange the house. I would need at least a fortnight 😂
@labradorite8256 haha. My husband wouldn't trust me alone in the house - he'd think I'd chuck out some of his stuff. He may or may not be correct 😆 he's a hoarder, plus he'll spend half an hour and get bored (whereas once I get going I can spend a whole morning/afternoon sorting until it is done) so decluttering is a nightmare! It's excruciatingly slow, but it's better than nothing I suppose.. I have to find positivity somewhere 😫😂
Wow! I love how you sped up the challenge and made it a game. The "not doing it in order" idea is so simple, but mind blowing. If I had seen this challenge previously, I would have totally messed myself up trying to do 1, 2, 3... and I would have quit within a week I can't do anything for 30 days, (yet) but I can go crazy for a few days! Lol Thank you so much for this amazingly simple, but awesome idea!
I worked in corporate and loved it. When I stopped working bc of health issues, it was so hard to let go of that person's lifestyle. I'd still shop for clothing 4 my previous life/self, but things would stay in the closet, unworn. It took me so long to accept the new me and therefore let go of that identity and declutter those items and stop buying more. Acceptance and grieving had to happen. It also took time bc my health only allowed me to do a little at a time. After the clothing, I continued decluttering my home bc I couldn't manage as much as before. I'm really good at organizing, but that takes time and strength, things I have in a limited capacity now, so many things had to go. I really like the phrase about the useful and the beautiful, and, for me, I added manageable (easy to clean/maintain) in my reality as it is now.
Thank you for sharing your story and perspective. 🫶🏾 I like how you said it’s a process of “letting go of that identity” along with the clutter. I’m so proud of your progress ❤️
IMHO adding "manageable" to William Morris's deservedly famous advice is brilliantly insightful of you. He himself might have argued that manageable belongs in the useful category, but I agree with you that it merits its own top-level position.
I feel for you. I have a friend in the same position as you, and she is still grieving. I am so proud of you and your self-awareness, and I have great faith in you that you will get through this.
My best decluttering tip: Get cardboardboxes first and fill them with everything you got in your house. Label and divide them to different categories. Separate the things which are used daily to rarely, so that your daily essentials are reachable throughout the entire decluttering or moving process. Once everything is packed in boxes, you can see the exact amount of your belongings in squarefeet. This method helps to not be visually overwhelmed by the uncountable things we own, spread all over the place. Now you go through each box step by step, item by item and decide to donate/sell/throw away. Its always shocking how less things end up in the daily essentials box from all what we own.
What a great video. I recently decluttered and donated 6 bags of books, 4 bags of clothing and still have a ways to go. Such a great feeling when you see the space that you can reclaim in your home. Congrats to us. And I love your artwork. Amazing stuff.
I have been decluttering the last two days and planning to do more the next two. It is incredible to see how much crap I have! No more! I need my mental health and peace to be at its best! No more stuff!!! Thank you so much for this video!
My decluttering tip that I learned the hard way is that, if possible, avoid using emotion-based questioning when decluttering if your mental health is not doing great. Less things may spark joy than usual if you're depressed. 🙃 or you may feel differently about things once you're through acute grief. Ultimately I don't regret what I decluttered anymore, but it took time. Also, I've seen at least one other comment but I wanna mention it too - don't rush to get new things to fill the space. Things are gonna feel different in the home for a while, and it's super important to give yourself time to get used to your surroundings
@@ARTXSUN you're welcome, and neither did i until an ill-timed round of KonMari cleaning 😂 gotta say btw, good job on finding the strength to let it all go. Not everyone finds it!
This was one of the most inspiring and practical videos on this subject. I am a junkie of this kind of content, so I hope you realize what a compliment this is. Please do more of this kind of content, especially anything related to the emotional and financial ties to our stuff that makes it difficult to make quick decisions about what to get rid of. i just love your upbeat, yet authentic way of communicating.😊
I appreciate you taking the time to comment this, it means a lot! 🥹 and I definitely will make more content like this! I’ve grown to enjoy decluttering and organizing so much and especially seeing how this video has impacted others - I’ll definitely be making more!
And yet another fairly unknown channel of a very cool, bright and inspiring young woman UA-cam blessed me with! Sometimes I love the algorithm :) I was so surprised to see that you don’t have more followers already cause the quality of the videos is sooo good!! I’m excited to watch your channel grow ✨🧚🏻♂️
Wow, Thank you so much! ☺️ Growing on UA-cam is a big goal of mine this year so seeing all the new subscribers from this video is such a blessing. & I have a lot more to share! Thank you so much for the encouragement 🙏🏾🧡
I have been doing this also and have gotten rid of over 1000 items since Dec 15th until January 17th. I do a donation trip every day when I am decluttering so much to get it out quick
I enjoyed your video. A lot of what you said makes sense to me. Things I valued in my 40s, don't fit my needs in my 60s. Donated many decluttered items. Loved seeing your messes, because that keeps it real. BTW, very cute doggo.
SO happy to finally see somebody to gets everythings in the middle of the living room like me and starts decluttering like crazy too 🎉 So cathartic and efficient!!
Getting rid of things for the person you WANT to be…😮💨 That’s good stuff right there! Such a great video. I feel inspired to tackle what I’ve put off for months.
hi! i'm in the process of decluttering my stuff and came across your video, it feels so insane to see a youtuber who actually does things like i'm doing rn instead of the by-the-numbers stuff lol thank you for sharing!
This is so satisfying ! I'm comforted knowing I'm not the only one with things I buy thinking I'll do a project and then never do. Such wasted space on a maybe.
In preparation for selling our house, my husband and I are starting to declutter. I've been watching tons of decluttering videos and this is, by far, my favorite. At the risk of sounding creepy, I have to say, I Love You!😍!!! You have the perfect name - you are a ray of Sunshine in the overwhelming - sometimes very cloudy, stormy, and scary - realm of decluttering! I love the way you make it okay for people to do what they can without having to follow strict "decluttering rules" that don't work for everyone. I've heard some of these tips before, but you make them more appealing. After watching this, I feel like decluttering is more doable and could actually be kind of fun at times. The 30 circles are genius - I just have to resist the urge to go buy 30 new markers to make mine😆 I will watch this video over and over (or at least listen to it) as I declutter. THANK YOU!! And, your artwork is breathtaking💖💖💖
This is such a good take on the 30 day challenge. I’ve always had a hard time completing this challenge and my little ridged brain would have never thought about jumping around on item numbers throughout the month with such a helpful little tracker!
This is probably the best decluttering video I have ever watched and I have watched very many. Thank you for putting a new slant to it old problem. You are articulate and funny and you have a beautiful dog.
I just bumped into your video while random scrolling in YT. I have to say your video is the first of the decluttering videos that resonates with me. I find real encouragement and down to earth statements and questions that has made me want to jump back into declutter my space as well. I have more stuff than I have room for. Not proud of that. I'm not a hoarder by any means, but I still have too much random stuff that is taking up space.
I do the same thing!!!! Lately I just look at my outside clutter. Wait till I empty the closets!!! I do random decluttering and feels good but there's so much more. Yes Miss Marie Condo. I got caught up in the "I may need it later cycle. ". This weekend, it's going to be Wicked!!! Here comes the tornado!!😂😂
Watching you declutter is like watching people workout! I enjoyed it so much!!! But I'm struggling to get up and get started! 😂😂😂 Great video! Very professional!
This was so incredibly helpful! I couldn't help but get up and declutter a section of my room that I was putting off for an embarrassingly long amount of time. I listened to the video while doing this. What really helped me is when you said "would you buy this today?" and "have you used it in the last 365 days?" I also have old electronics cords that I need to get rid of. Feeling very inspired. Thank you!
I have seen many declutter videos, Including my own that I post on my channel but I can say that this was the best video about decluttering that I have ever seen 😊. Very good job and after just one video, I subscribed immediately, I can see that the living room and the joy the room exudes after your purge really matches your personality. You all exude joy.❤
I have heard of this method, but never thought of taking the numbers in random orders following how much I found that day, love this! Usually it's easier in the beginning to find a lot. Will try this!
no stop, you have seriously helped me so much because that is my style of decluttering. Ill have a huge chaotic mess while everything is in transition and I get overwhelmed when I step back and look at the mess, it looks like the room has exploded, but wow thank you for sharing !!!
Bravo!!! It’s feels wonderful to sit in any room in your home and not feel the stress of ‘why do I have that?’ or ‘Ugh, I need to take care of that!’. I decluttered the exact same way. Emptied everything and only put “keeps” back. Made it so much easier than picking through items. My husband sat on the couch and stayed out of my way. I believe he was more fearful than being kind 🤣 Poor fella.
"It is an absolutely insane method" I am CACKLING. I'm sitting here watching your video eating Chinese takeout after completely demolishing my house in an ADHD impulse declutter all day. Decluttered 250+ items today and I'll get back at it tomorrow. Glad my method is as chaotic as yours. I feel much better. BIG LOVE!!!
This video is just what I need I’m so overwhelmed with my stuff loads of art stuff books clothes etc but feel so guilty to get rid of things that cost money. Your technique and questions helps me see through my procrastination, great job.
I loved the authenticity you showed in this video! The shots of complete disaster areas are often my reality for certain rooms and absolutely if I am actually trying to declutter an area that maybe already has some control or masterful creative organization of clutter; pulling stuff out to declutter means I AM going to have a mountain of mess! So many decluttering or minimalism videos I watch show homes that are already in such good order that I tend to not be motivated by their removing a few items out of each organizing container already there or it's remove one item and neatly fold the other three and wow, of course the closet or drawer looks neat and organized now. So Thank you for sharing this great content!
I don’t typically comment on UA-cam videos, but your video magically appeared on my home page, and I am so grateful that it did! One of my big goals for 2025 is to declutter my home and your video is the best declutter video I’ve watched because your beautiful, kind, nurturing, and encouraging spirit shines through! Thank you so much for sharing, and please give Hinota some extra scritches from me! 💗
Oh my goodness, I love this video. The fact that you showed all of the things you had in your home, and you are much younger than me truly inspired me to try the challenge. I have decluttered off and on for two years. Not judging in anyway, yes you have a lot for such a young person, but you got rid of it. Bravo! Every suggestion, explanation, and description you provided hit home and made sense. I have seen many decluttering videos on YT, but you and your beautiful, sweet dog grab my attention and highly motivated me. Thank you for this.
Wow! You so hit home for me.Have wanted to do this for so long but always put it off - procrastination and overwhelmed! Much guilt attached to so much stuff! like - this was my mothers, grandmothers, fathers, etc. Can't just throw it out?!! But seriously - why not?? Books are also a big problem. Many signed by authors but I will never read them. Kept them for the writers sake as weird as that sounds. I mean the author gave this book to me, dedicated and signed it and now I'm obligated to treasure it!? Ypu have inspired me and I am going to start with one drawer, shelf at a time! Thank You so much!!
Finally!!!! It's a declutter video that makes sense! Instead of the questions, "Do I use it? Do I like it?" These are real questions. Thank you, thank you so much. I'm definitely feeling motivated and excited!❤
I declutter/reorganize my entire home twice a year. Best times for me are shortly before school ends in Summer and after harvest season before Holidays start. It’s a great chance to go through the kids’ closets, toys, and hobby items to clean out the old year in spring and then prep for new in fall. It takes me about 2 weeks to go through my 1800 square feet of home from room to room. I go through every square inch of the place, deep cleaning windows, furnishings, storage, decor, hole patching and painting where necessary. We are always on a budget and I try to be more mindful with things I bring back inside so I don’t have a lot of clutter per se. But I still always have so much to get rid of: worn shoes/clothes, beauty/hygiene products and meds that expire, wires that we no longer know what they go with, etc. This really helps my house with much needed storage for what we DO need.
I absolutely appreciate you sharing this journey with us! As a nursing student, it’s been super challenging to balance work, school, and not creating clutter that I don’t seem to get to until it’s just crazy! I love my apartment.. especially when it’s organized! I’ve leave here 7 years, and the longer I’m here the more stuff I’ve collected don’t use anymore! I was once told think, “What is my relationship to whatever item I’m holding on to?” You explained this and shared the process perfectly! Thank you so much! Challenge EXCEPTED!
Im loving the 1 - 30 numbered chart, makes decluttering more accountable and fun…Im always decluttering, as I have very little built in storage. My problem is clothing that cost me a lot of money, so Ive stopped buying new clothes and hoping to manage to declutter down to a small wardrobe…Then I will have to decide if I will sell the ‘expensive’ stuff or actually wear them.
Your five questions are great. Keeping things “out of fear” is really powerfully put. Items you hold on to because you don’t want to be without or be seen as being without can spring from a poverty trauma … when you look at those items it can remind you of the trauma. Stepping fully into your (new?) reality means letting go. Powerful stuff. ❤❤
Your video popped up in my feed and I'm sooo thankful I clicked it! The title is what drew me in... I said to myself, someone decluttered 600+ things in 3 days? Wow! Now that I've watched it I'm like, I CAN DO THIS! ❤ Congratulations on reaching your goal! And THANK YOU SO MUCH for making sense out of the process, so I can do it too! I really love how you turned the 30-day challenge into a progress task chart, instead of a daily challenge, which most of the time I don't do well with daily challenges. Your tips were great, and your delivery was very professional yet personal. You have a new subby -- me! Enjoy your day!
Dear Sunshine, Thank you for your honest and real video "I decluttered 600+ items in 3 days." I appreciated the non-judgmental presentation and it gave me a little motivation as I have been going through my things, doing the keep, toss, give method so that I might move into a smaller house. I think the toughest question to answer was: Am I keeping this out of guilt, obligation or fear? That question fits me to a T and I'm going to have to ask this question - and answer it aloud - when I pick up something that I just cannot toss into the give/toss pile. For those items that are good, but I need to say goodbye to, I'm opening a sell stall at our local consignment shop, so that these items can be adopted into a home where someone actually wants/needs them. Thanks again for the encouragement! Cherilyn in Elizabeth, CO
No lie I started to do this 2 days ago. So I'm on day three but I never thought of just fast-forwarding it. You are gorgeous, intelligent and very self aware. This video was packed with so much good information.
Thank you Sunshine. Very interesting perspectives that I have not heard on other decluttering videos. And your pup is precious and obviously loves you to bits!
YES! This is the method I've been waiting for. I may have to do it room by room, to keep from tiring myself out of wanting to do it; but I'm starting today. Thanks for your honest and realistic approach. Great video. And your dog is such a sweetheart!
I have done this challenge a few times and it works great. I love the chart that you made and how you allowed yourself to just circle whatever number you had at the time instead of forcing yourself to come up with a certain number each day. Less pressure!
Thank you! Very helpful. I.would also.add that as we get older, we naturally start decluttering. Those spike heels I will never wear again due to back issues, all tight, uncomfortable clothing. I halted my junk jewelry collection, and when retired, got rid of all my suits. Also, pruned down seasonal decorations. Lots of opportunities when you accept your age, new lifestyle and needs. Time is precious I don't want to waste what I have left with clutter
Don't worry I find pulling everything out to sort through it is easier and better than doing it bit by bit. It also gives you a chance to clean that space before putting the keep stuff back in there. It makes me feel very accomplished once the jobs done
I love your almost reversed approach! I was amazed you never expressed spontanous regret about the relatively large size and thus space when only e.g. crossing out two items. Just shows, how well your approach works. Great vibe between you and your dog. One tip - use the moon as support. Today is new moon. So the few days before it and like one after are considered traditionally to be best for larger cleaning and declutter. By same token, watch out in 10-14 days what tries comes in.
I’m doing this fast track declutter whole house challenge right now as well!! I need to purge while I am motivated and energetic about it. I LOVE that you show the stuff you’re getting rid of. I have so many of the same things, and so many of the same hang-ups which have kept me from getting rid of them. Thanks for making this video 👏
This video was so insightful, and even though I've watched so many decluttering videos, I felt like you did such a good job of covering this in a straightforward way (and also going through the dog toys lol they really act like whatever they forgot about is their favorite toy!). Thanks for finding a lovely balance of positive encouragement and telling us the necessary harsh reality of what we need to hear to make changes. I usually follow my own pattern of doing things and your approach made me feel seen + ok to do it however I need to so I can keep my momentum going. I'm glad I found your channel!
I’m easily overwhelmed but I love the reframe of using the overwhelm as an incentive, although I probably would use it on a smaller scale. You have a lovely creative house!
Right - it’s almost like using our fears against us. And definitely do what works for you! And thank you so much, I’m an artist so I appreciate that compliment! Haha
I went to an RV show today & all the vendors had freebies... bags, cozies, etc. I took none of the stuff. That's a first for me! But I'm on day 13 of the 30 day declutter challenge & I'm determined to not bring more unnecessary stuff into my home. It felt so good to walk out with nothing in my hands!
I’ve gotten a lot of questions and comments about the artwork in the video! I painted all the art in my home and sell originals and art prints on my shop - artxsun.com if you’re interested. 🧡 thank you for all the kind comments! 🥺🙏🏾
Wow! Great job!
Love your beautiful art!
Your artwork is beautiful!
Your home is beautiful. You are a very gifted artist
It helps me sometimes to just pretend that it's all someone else's stuff. Like I just moved in and it was left behind by the previous owner.
Oooooh I’ve never heard of that but that is a great idea! Thanks for the tip!
I love this idea!!
The way I read this was ...It isn't my stuff so it's not for me to sort out 😅
😂@@ninetiesperson7980
That is such a great idea because you can blame all that clutter on somebody else and judge them why you throwing it all away. I love it. I love it😮
One of THE most important steps to decluttering is to remember NOT to bring in new stuff to fill the empty space!
This!!!! Yes yes yes - so true!
As soon as I clear off a surface and my husband sees the clear spot, he puts things there. So frustrating.
that is SO true!
Yep I did a fabulous job decluttering in 2020. I really need to do it again! Looks like I haven’t thrown anything away in 20 years!
Too late... 🙋♀️💥
The “would I buy this at the store today” is gonna be a game changer for me! Thank youuuuuuuu
Or Dana K. White’s questions! They complement that question really well.
You’re so welcome!! That might’ve been the biggest question for me too! I was surprised at how often the answer was “Nope!”
Same here. I start tomorrow. Was planned anyway.
Oh yeah that one resonated with me too. It made me dig a shirt out from the bottom of my drawer that I’ve been ignoring, but know I’ll never wear again. Why do I still have it??
@@username00009 Did I skip over Dana K. White? Is the reference in this vid?
"Just because it's free doesnt mean you have to take it home." 👏👏
@@terryhorvath5045 That helps. Thanks
Please take your time to grieve and then allow additional grieving time when you need to sort through her stuff as I imagine it will be hard but you can love and honor her without keeping it all and maybe some items bring you joy so keep them.
I declutter 1,265 items from august to December. I was amazed at how much space and my stress levels went down.
That’s incredible! I bet it felt so good afterwards. What was your method?
@ went through and got all trash out first. I went in my craft room and asked myself , am I going to do this project . Do I have a place to put it . Clothes if it’s to small donate if tobig do the same. Others will I wear it , have I worn it, do I love it . Other areas do I use it , I only need one.
@user-Ava-silyexcellent strategy 👏🏽
owning a lot of stuff is like masking a mental illness no one in their right mind needs that much stuff it's only trying to fill a void
Thank you for the inspiration.
Oh I love that mindset and question! I have to start asking myself that too. Great advice, thank you for sharing 🫶🏾
“Shopping for my future self that never happened”
YES! I am SO guilty of that! Excellent point!
My favorite declutterring question comes from Dana K White: “If I needed this would I remember I had it?”
So helpful because if I’d forget about it, it can go!
Oh wow, that’s a good one!!! And so true because if we forgot about it, how valuable could it really be in our lives. Great quote, thanks for sharing! 💛
I also like the question 'Can I live without this'.
Yes I remember that question from here. If we don’t remember we have it, we would likely buy another one anyway. So it could go.
LOVE Dana K. White! She was the first declutterring person I found, on podcasts a few yrs ago, & her style is perfect for me! I’ve fallen off for awhile now and I came across this video randomly and it’s really making me want to jump back in to it!! Lord knows that I have TOO much shit in my house😩😩😩
ohhhhh im writing this one down....
This is truly a MASTERCLASS in editing
🥺🥺🥺 thank you so much for this 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾 it’s awesome when people notice those details!
I agree 100%. I almost forgot what it felt like to watch videos net being divided into “chapters”.. this was so fluent
Good job! I’ve lived in my house 32 years and have been working on decluttering--room by room, one drawer or shelf at a time. I have found items that I didn’t even know what they were used for. It’s liberating and I’m a senior citizen who doesn’t want to leave a mess for my daughter.
“Even though this has been in the back of my closet for two years, 30 days is too long” lol literally me when I decide to declutter too!!!
Haha I don’t know why we’re like that but it’s just so true! When inspiration hits, I get tunnel-vision 😂
Girl, Kondo does the big pile method. Don’t apologize!!!!! What a cute dog!!!!
Haha thank you so much! 🙏🏾💛
So true, great tips! Shopping less and only buying high quality important items is really the key
i read a quote that stated, buy quality more expensive items that will last than cheaper items that need to be replaced over & over again. Or to simplify: quality over quantity.
What is the title please
I agree. I’ve saved a lot of money by stretching out my Amazon purchases. I only order every two weeks or so. The time allows me to really assess whether I need the item.
@@susieroy8565she wrote 'buy now' so assuming that is the title
I'm not struggling with clutter, I clicked on this video to just have something to listen to while I work. But, I'm surprised with how much insight I've gained from this. I particularly resonated with keeping things because they represent who you think you should be or though you were going to be.
I love that! Glad you accidentally found some value here! ☺️
That’s a beautiful endorsement! ❤
Thank you for sharing your journey - I'm proud of you and your progress as well! ❤️
Congratulations for getting rid of the person/stuff which was useless and making ur life complicated and meaningless.I hope u feel light and less burdened
@@ambreeniramahmad8315 thanks! I appreciate it ❤️
FIRST, Caroline Winkler uses the Wine Challenge:
'If I spilled red wine on it, how hard would I work to clean it?'
Game changer for me!!
THANK YOU
Ooh I like the wine test!! I’ll have to use that! Thanks! And I’m glad the video was helpful ☺️
omg that reminds me of a UA-camr who said, if she got (dog poop) on it, would she keep it & clean it or simply toss. Same concept. lol!
I can relate. I make a big mess while decluttering. If my husband goes away for a weekend, I'm up half the night decluttering.
Understandable. It’s always best doing it when your partner is away 😂😂
Gosh, I wish I could get rid of my family for a week - I need to create a bombsite to work well 😂
@natv55 my friend sent her husband and kids camping for 3 days, she worked from 7am til 2am sorting it all out so they could rearrange the house.
If I had seen this challenge previously, I would have totally messed myself up trying to do 1, 2, 3... and I would have quit within a week
I can't do anything for 30 days, (yet) but I can go crazy for a few days! Lol
Thank you so much for this amazingly simple, but awesome idea!
lol exactly, Same here!! I’m so glad that idea is helping you all out too! 🩵
Yes, I'm such a rule-follower, it never entered my mind that I could skip around! This makes this method totally doable for me.
Oh nice! Seeing your belongings in square footage is a game changer too. I like that method, thanks for sharing!
@ARTXSUN Thanks :)
I like your idea because if I see so much stuff I don't know where to start then I give up and never declutter.
Thanks!
And your Shiba baby 🤎🐕
No judgment friend! Thank you for being real.
I appreciate that! ☺️
What a great video. I recently decluttered and donated 6 bags of books, 4 bags of clothing and still have a ways to go. Such a great feeling when you see the space that you can reclaim in your home. Congrats to us. And I love your artwork. Amazing stuff.
Wow, that’s awesome! I know that felt good. & Thank you so much! I sell originals and art prints on my site - artxsun.com if you’re interested 🥰
I have been decluttering the last two days and planning to do more the next two. It is incredible to see how much crap I have! No more! I need my mental health and peace to be at its best! No more stuff!!!
Thank you so much for this video!
No more stuff! You got this 🫶🏾
My decluttering tip that I learned the hard way is that, if possible, avoid using emotion-based questioning when decluttering if your mental health is not doing great.
That is a great tip, I’ve never considered that before. But it makes a ton of sense. Thank you for sharing 🙏🏾💛

You are not alone! Wasted space and wasted money! I’ve been working on only buying supplies that I plan on using for projects immediately. Haha

I just bumped into your video while random scrolling in YT. I have to say your video is the first of the decluttering videos that resonates with me. I find real encouragement and down to earth statements and questions that has made me want to jump back into declutter my space as well. I have more stuff than I have room for. Not proud of that.
Love this! I’m sure I have 600 items I need to get rid of just in my junk drawers. Thanks for the encouragement! 🧡

Yes! I’m so glad it resonated with you 💛
I declutter/reorganize my entire home twice a year.
I watch a lot of this type of video but yours was by far the best in motivating me to do THE WORK! ❤ You were my sunshine today! 🌞
Haha yessss! I love that. Thank you!
Yeah, clothing can be difficult! I’m glad the chart helped! 🧡
Definitely! I love how you put that! ❤️
Your video popped up in my feed and I'm sooo thankful I clicked it! The title is what drew me in... I said to myself, someone decluttered 600+ things in 3 days? Wow! Now that I've watched it I'm like, I CAN DO THIS! ❤
Congratulations on reaching your goal!
I love that! I’m glad it inspired you, you can definitely do it! And thank you for subscribing 🫶🏾💕
Dear Sunshine,
Thank you for your honest and real video "I decluttered 600+ items in 3 days." I appreciated the non-judgmental presentation and it gave me a little motivation as I have been going through my things, doing the keep, toss, give method so that I might move into a smaller house.
Thank you so much for such a thoughtful comment and for sharing! I’m excited for your decluttering journey too 💛
This video was suggested to me by the algorithm and I’m glad I clicked. Thanks for the great video!
I’m glad you did too! Haha welcome! ☺️
Yassssss! 🎉 Doing the 30 day challenge as quickly as possible is such a great idea. Great video and tips! Thanks so much for the inspiration!
Thank you! I’m glad you enjoyed it! 🫶🏾🧡
0:17 as soon as I heard you say that, I immediately thought of something that I don’t even use and I immediately threw it away lol😅
lol Starting is the first step! Next thing you know, you’ve got a pile of 600 items 😅
@ can’t wait! lol
It took me 3 years of each day declattering and only now i can feel that i completed unburdening my life. Feels great😊
Awesome! Keep it up!
@@ARTXSUN ❤️❤️
No lie I started to do this 2 days ago. So I'm on day three but I never thought of just fast-forwarding it.
You are gorgeous, intelligent and very self aware. This video was packed with so much good information.
You are so kind, thank you so much 🙏🏾❤️ I’m glad this video helped! 🫶🏾
I love the idea of the decluttering challenge . I just made my own print out of one. Thank you for the idea.
Did you just get rid of the pressure on the 30day challenge without making it less effective?!😮 You got some brain in the best way!!!!
You got this! I’m so glad it resonated with you! And thank you! ☺️
I have done this challenge a few times and it works great. I love the chart that you made and how you allowed yourself to just circle whatever number you had at the time instead of forcing yourself to come up with a certain number each day. Less pressure!
Thank you for helping me to finally decorated without feeling overwhelmed! I love the 30 day concept - 465 items!😄
Declutter!!
I’m so glad that worked for you! 🫶🏾
Completely agree!! It’s like a fresh start
Thank you! I tried so be as authentic and open as possible in this video! I’m glad you enjoyed it!
This is such a great video!!
This is the best piece of decluttering I've come across, and that includes all the articles on decluttering. Thank you
Wow, thank you! I’m happy to hear that ☺️🙏🏾
