Thanx elias. I have a fk2 type r . Just bought my first set of replacement pads . This video saved me a ton of cash by doing it myself and not using the dealership
Oh wow that's awesome 👌 such a easy job! Man we live in this envious world where people damage things on purpose I've got 3 years Honda warranty left on my fk8 type r I'm not going to give my car for service or anything I'll do all my self great video keep up the great work!
For just brake pads the answer is NO. if you didn’t catch them in time and it started grinding against the rotor (because the pads have been worn out to 0 spec) then YES you would need to change the rotor with the pads.
video starts at 6:12 😂 Always leave the brake fluid cap off/loose - otherwise you could damage your system from pushing piston in and fluid having no space to move in tank from air trapped by cap
That is what I was thinking as well. Even when I change my EF brakes I have to have the brake fluid cap off, because there is always air in the system.
Thanks bros I’m going to install new front pads. I paid a shop to install rear pads and I’m regretting that decision. Going to start doing brakes myself after watching your videos
I am loving my new R! I only drive it on dry and clear days. I wipe the car down after every drive. This is mainly a comment and NOT a complaint. The brake pads are very soft so they make a ton of brake dust. It takes me an hour just to wipe down all my wheels but I’m anal and wipe the entire inside of the wheels too. Lol Anyone thinking of buying one; JUST DO IT! I flew from PA to NC to buy mine and never drove one before. Once you sit in that seat you will know what I mean! Happy drives all!!!
I know exactly what you mean - takes at least an hour to clean the black wheels properly. I also clean the calipers every wash and even apply a spray wax to the calipers and wheels. They do look good when finished.
You guys should look into ceramic coating your wheels and calipers as I have done. Break dust completely wipes off with a water-less wash and always looks wax'd, new. Maybe 20-30 to clean them spotless if that.
If you want a good wheel cleaner that doesn't take any/very little agitation with a brush, check out smd_supplies on Instagram. Trust me. It works wonders. 20-30 minutes to clean a ceramic coated wheel is still a long time. It normally takes me that long when I'm detailing my customers cars
Hey, I never have changed my rotors so far and I hear squeaking in my brakes and I find it using a bit more effort to stop, just changing the brake pads is enough right like I don’t need rotors correct?
Hello Elias, does it not damage the ABS sensor? Normally the rear pads have these issue, you need scanner to get it back or using the bleed way to avoid any issue with the ABS sensor. If you didn’t get any alert at the dash cluster you were good.
@@FlyinGato ohhh ok. I always have rotors turned in case they are warped plus there was a time I didn’t get them turned and they squealed like crazy so from that day forward I started having rotors turned and if they weren’t that expensive I’d buy new one being that having them turned was $10-$15 whereas a brand new rotor was only $25.
I have a video of me replacing the rears on the hatchback I used to own, same exact setup. Just turn off the parking brake, lift up the car, you'll need a 7 or 6 mm allen key to undo some bolts, slide out the caliper, with a brake compression tool you have to push in the piston while also turning it, put in new pads, slap it all back on.
I’m doing this soon but going with the hawk hps pads. They come with grease or lube. Where do I apply that. I’ve never changed brakes out but doing it to stop the squeaking.

Hi, I recently changed pads on my 2017 type r front were a breeze. When I changed rear pads now I get brake hold and e brake problem indication on dash. Any advice before I take to dealer will be greatly appreciated.
Planning on switching to ceramic myself soon. I feel like I purchased the black sheep of Type Rs.
