My WiiU seriously sees more gameplay than any other console in our house. I live with my parents and have it set up in the front room for my nieces to play when they come over, but my dad has gotten into playing it a lot as well. It gets a lot of use in Mario Kart 8, Minecraft, and even Super Mario 3D World, and I personally use its virtual console to get hold of a lot of GBA and DS games I've wanted to play for a good long while. The WiiU is this generation's Dreamcast, hands down.
When the wii U came out I started collecting for the Wii. When the switch came out I started collecting for the wii U. This method has saved me so much money.

A lot of people say Wii U would never be collectable because most of their games are available for Switch, well the same thing happened with the Dreamcast, a lot of their games were later ported to PS2/Xbox/GC and PSP but the Dreamcast original releases still holding their value or went up in value, keep that in mind...
@@reidcircuits826 so the Wii U is as well, actually they do have some things in common like extra screen in pad, remember playing RE Code Veronica and the Status being displayed in the Dreamcast pad through the VMU screen, same thing with RE Revelations status, maps and items are displayed in the Wii U pad
It's a good system. I played Breath of the Wild on it primarily using the tablet without a television. It's a very cool system. I wish it got as much support as the original Wii.
In a way, I think it's a good thing that it didn't get a lot of attention from too many third parties. We got a lot of great, genuine ℕ𝕚𝕟𝕥𝕖𝕟𝕕𝕠 games, and not a mess of shovel ware to sift through.
I got mine in 2013. 60 physical games later and a lot of e shop and virtual ones I still play my Wii U almost daily. I just finished Xeno X and I am about to start Tokyo Mirage. I got a switch in 2017 and I logged more time on my Wii U in the last 2 years then on the Switch. Great video John!
I'm about 30 or so titles short of a full set. Took a fairly long hiatus when I chased the MVS set, but once that is locked I plan on finishing off the Wii U collection. It's a fantastic little system that really saved me when I was bored of my 360.
GameStop is pretty cheap, but they don't always update the price on there cases. If a game there looks expensive try checking on there website. You can still buy it in store for the lower price. Like the one near me had bayo 1&2 marked for like $54 but it's only $20 or something online. So when they scanned it it came up with the new price
I choose Ebay for my games. Don’t support GameStop. Not only are they a garbage company, but they treat games like plastic silverware. They put nasty stickers on the cases, they use generic and blank cases to save money, they can open new games to allow the employees to play them before they seal them back up. I stopped shopping there ages ago and I don’t regret it.

I absolutely adore the wii u I have many different consoles but I just keep coming back to it I think people forget how well made this thing is very tactile it's enjoyable just what gaming should be fabulous
I love my Wii U. My copy of Breath of the Wild is on my Wii U and not my Switch. I doubt I'll double dip unless I come across a physical copy for Switch super cheap. In fact, a majority of my Zelda collection is on the Wii U virtual console.
You are bang on the money John. I've noticed prices on some of the more obscure titles are creeping up. The fact that the library is relatively small will make it a real possibility for collectors to score a full set....if they get in now. Great vid
I love the Wii U, i been collecting for 1 year already, I currently have 3 seal copy’s, Star Fox Zero, Mario Maker and Giana Sisters Twisted Dreams. I currently have 29 games, I choose not to have more simply bc I only collect what I enjoy playing, if I don’t like it I simply return it to GameStop.
It’s always joyful to see Wii U stuff out in the wild. I got my 32 GB Mario Kart 8 Deluxe console for $10 at an EZ Pawn because the LCD was cracked. $15 bucks, two beers, and 30 minutes later, I had a perfectly fine Wii U console. I recently picked up my LoZ Wind Waker Deluxe console on clearance at a pawn shop in Illinois for $30-there wasn’t a thing wrong with it (and it was very very clean). Most of my Wii U game collection has come from “non-windowed” Family Video rental stores. At the start of their recent mass exodus of last-gen games, most Wii U titles were on sale for $5.99, $7.99, or $9.99. I remember getting two copies of NCAA Football 14 for XB360, Treasure Tracker, and Mario and Sonic @ Rio 2016 for $5.99 each. Check them out, if you got them. I’ve beefed up my 360, PS3, Wii U, Wii, and 3DS collections immensely, thanks to Family Video. Also, if you have Meijer grocery stores, check out the clearance rack. I got Tokyo Mirage, Xenoblade, Splatoon, and Mario Tennis all for less than $15 bucks each new.
I’m not such a hardcore collector, but I always try to get at least every exclusive for every console. Sometimes a version of a 3rd party game if the console version has some special merit to it.
My local Walmart had some Wii U games on clearance last weekend, and I bought a couple of them that I didn’t have. I got sealed copies of Adventure Time for $2, and Runbow for $5. I recommend checking your local Walmart for deals, as I believe they’re trying to clear out their Wii U inventory before the holiday season.
I bought my Wii u a few weeks after the switch launch for $200 with about 10 games. Best purchase I've ever made in gaming. Currently my third favorite Nintendo system only behind the snes and 64. And at the rate I'm going with pickups I'll have a complete collection pretty soon, it being my first. I always thought 64 would be my first but those last 50ish games are killing me to find. Wii u on the other hand I find all over GameStop, usually cheap and because there CD like almost always have a case and cover art. It makes collecting so much fun.
I started about a month ago, went abit crazy. I work in a big tech retailer, i used our internal system to map out all the places that still had NEW SEALED Wii U games in stock. Used this last month to buy up all those games at 1-10 dollars a piece. My favorites are my 7 sealed Paper Mario Color Splash and 3 sealed Zelda Twilight Princess. Its so cheap and the console is VERY underrated, i think we will se high prices in the future... but i dont collect to sell :)
I'm not a "collector" but have owned most major systems since early 80s (Sega first for me!)...the Wii U impressed me when I first tried it before launch at the Nintendo store in NYC. I bought one thinking it was more appropiate for my 6 year old son (compared to my xbox 360/One). Maybe not volumes of games like Sony and Microsoft, but what it had impressed me. We still play Mario Kart 8, and as I find the time I'll try to get through Breath of the Wild - probably my favourite game of the last 5 years. I didn't have the original Wii, so I will also say I was impressed with Metroid Trilogy and Super Mario Galaxy - and if your a gamer first and don't care about the collectibilty, these were (hopefully still!) available on the Wii U through the estore. Every other game you mentioned are definitely fun as well!

I started about 2 years ago when you could easily find the Hello Kitties and what not at GameStop for about $10. One thing you should also check out is the NA version of the official Nintendo Lens Cleaner, it's incredibly hard to find and was only sold on Nintendo's website for a few years. It had "Wii U Lens Cleaning Kit" in English and not Japanese and is currently going for about $100 sealed which is already crazy.
I agree with you John 100%, in fact, it looks like that there are already a few games that are creeping up in value, at least in the U.K. so it’s time to start buying up this format. P.S. Whilst I gave Wii U nowhere near as much time it deserves I love the console to bits. 💞💞💞
Everyone should have a WiiU in their collection . I really enjoyed it with my kids and still do , even though we play the Switch and PS4 more these days . We still go back to the WiiU and it is still hooked up to my TV to this day since the day that we bought it .
I really enjoy collecting for the Wii U. I have 52 physical games for it so far including both Bayonettas in one. All those plus the Wii version of Rodea. I've also picked up a couple imports out of curiosity. I noticed you have some of the boxed games like Super Mario Maker in box protectors. I have been trying to get ones that will fit all my boxed Wii U games but haven't had much luck. Oh, and I have a whole bunch of digital titles. Fun stuff.

I had my Wii U since December 2012, when I got one for Christmas with NSMBU and Nintendo Land. My dad also got me an NSMBU strategy guide to go with it. Honestly, the Wii U got me back into gaming and I used it for years. I have a few eShop games, including Fatal Frame and Meme Run. I'll always have a soft spot for the Wii U.
I bought my Wii-U back in January (2019) I absolutely love my Wii-U currently playing Metroid Prime Trilogy such a perfect game. I have about 12 Wii-U games I picked up through out the months (mainly the games I personally wanna play) Zelda games , Mario games and other WiiU exclusives.
Now is the time for sure. Ever since Mario Maker was released I have had my eye on this console, I finally caved yesterday and got a 32 gig system complete for 104 from a game store! I also got the pro controller, a og gamecube controller and the needed plugin for it along with 4 very good games and I came out right at about 200 for everything so I feel like I done pretty well. I cant believe how cheap the games are for this system, but I've never really collected for a system at the right time either.

I got a wii u about 6 months ago on the cheap and spent very little on all those ported games compared to the full priced ports on the switch i saved hundreds. I have noticed the used wii u games becoming harder to find this will be hard system to collect for later on this video is spot on
I agree with this video. Especially since there are some really awesome and unique experiences on the Wii U. I am happy that you brought up Tokyo Mirage Sessions, as that is one of my favorite JRPGs that I will be in shock if it ever got ported.
I bought a WiiU off ebay for about 40 bucks, and bought the tablet at a Goodwill for about $10. In total, I spent $50 bucks. The greatest thing about the deal was that it had BOTW, Super Mario Kart 8, and a couple games from the Virtual Console already installed. Since that day, I have been playing BOTW more than what I normally would the Nintendo Switch.
Watching this video on my Wii U! I Sadly don't play many games on my Wii U, but it is an excellent way to watch youtube videos. Especially using the tablet while playing other systems.
I would argue it's the same for the 3DS. It's at the end of its life and Nintendo has already been dropping support for certain apps and features. Games are still easy to come by but some titles are becoming more and more difficult to find as time passes.
I bought the Wii U in March. Mainly because there were about half a dozen titles I was interested in. I was never supposed to buy more games than that, but suddenly I'm closing in on 30 games. I'm not into amiibo, but I found it nice to have the Wii U exclusive games at least. Probably will never go further than that, I have to focus on coimpleting my PAL Dreamcast collection first and foremost. And yes, even on the Wii U the PAL game boxes looks better than the North American ones.
I bought the Mario and Luigi deluxe Wii U set brand new from a Shoppers Drug Mart when the system was still actively being sold. They wanted $199 for it, which at the time was a steal, but I got it for $50 less because I had PC Optimum Points (a rewards program they have) that I was saving up for something big! I wanted the system purely for Bayonetta 2, which I bought day of release, so yes, it has the original Bayonetta as well! One game that is a definite must for the system is Batman: Arkham City. It's the "Armored Edition" that has Wii U exclusives using the tablet controller
I really question my life when people say "ya i put in 100 hours into that great game", and im sitting here with 5000+ hours of dota, 1000 hours TF2, 1200 hours CSGO... :/
This can be said for the PS4 too. Now is time to start collecting for the PS4. With everyone gunning for a PS5 and stores running out stock, get a PS4 or PS4 pro for now. There is a lot of great games and hidden gems on the PS4 and you can get games for cheap at Gamestop and on Ebay.

i just got my wii u a month ago on 1/16/21. i got it for free from a friend. i dont plan on getting a switch. but theres plenty of u titles to play. and all the wii games i can play on it. so that makes it more worth keeping. and since ive had it ive got alot of nes and snes games from the eshop. and i just got a 750gbs external hooked up to it just for all those eshop games. theres alot of those nes and snes games i want to get so i can play em on the big flatscreen tv i have. i got nes metroid and zelda and mario 3 from nes and earthbound from snes. so im having alot of fun with it so far

There is still a heck of a lot you can do online, on the Wii U, that we still can't do on the Switch. To me my Switch doesn't feel like a total replacement, while the streaming apps, and all retro game that are dowloadable. You want a Turbo Grafix Mimi? Just download enough on the Wii U. The last batch of good games to download on the Wii U, seemed to be Turbo Grafix 16 games, just to let everyone know

Im 30 games away from a complete set! Grabbed some great deals at LameStop when they had the 4 for $10 and 4 for $20 deals. eBay has a lot of games for under $5 shipped too! I’ve gotten a few games cheaper brand new Vs used from amazon so you gotta make sure you shop around but there are tons of deals out there for Wii U games!
I still keep my Wii U hooked up even though I have a Switch now. Super Mario 3D World, Pikmin 3, The Wonderful 101, Xenoblade Chronicles X, Twilight Princess Remastered and Virtual Console are all great things the Wii U has that the Switch does not.
I got the 32gb one at barely 80 us dollars. Including 3 games and the Wii u pro controller. I've never owned a Nintendo console but now I have kids and nieces :)

Just picked up a Wii U and 13 Games for $100. Thought about trying to sell a majority of the games to make my money back. However, after playing it, I like it all most as much as I like my Switch. I am going to keep it all now and consider the purchase to be a great deal

Just bought a Wii U with Mario+ Luigi Bros U, ZombiU, and Mario 3D World. On the next check I’m getting DK: Tropical Freeze, Mario Kart 8, and StarFox:Zero+ Guard. There’s still lots of games that I want, but I’ll get them in due time. They will only go down in price further anyway.
Love my Wii U. I have two. I have to thank Kelsey and Metal Jesus for their buying guide for introducing me to it. The pro controller is one of the best. I play all my Wii games on it/them.
Had my wii u a year now awesome console basically a prototype for the switch my own complaint about it is that you can’t go far from the TV with the main controller that would of been a great feature for it. For me the wii u is up there with the SNES future classic console for sure and the last Nintendo CD based console....... get one while you can 👍🏻
And the Wii U has an awesome variety of Virtual Console games. I'm probably going to be investing a good chunk of change just into filling up my 2 TB hard drive I bought just for the Wii U.

Game stores are charging a premium for some games.

Sometimes a version of a 3rd party game if the console version has some special merit to it.

My local Walmart had some Wii U games on clearance last weekend, and I bought a couple of them that I didn’t have. I got sealed copies of Adventure Time for $2, and Runbow for $5. I recommend checking your local Walmart for deals, as I believe they’re trying to clear out their Wii U inventory before the holiday season.
I bought my Wii u a few weeks after the switch launch for $200 with about 10 games. Best purchase I've ever made in gaming. Currently my third favorite Nintendo system only behind the snes and 64. And at the rate I'm going with pickups I'll have a complete collection pretty soon, it being my first. I always thought 64 would be my first but those last 50ish games are killing me to find. Wii u on the other hand I find all over GameStop, usually cheap and because there CD like almost always have a case and cover art. It makes collecting so much fun.
I started about a month ago, went abit crazy. I work in a big tech retailer, i used our internal system to map out all the places that still had NEW SEALED Wii U games in stock. Used this last month to buy up all those games at 1-10 dollars a piece. My favorites are my 7 sealed Paper Mario Color Splash and 3 sealed Zelda Twilight Princess.
Its so cheap and the console is VERY underrated, i think we will se high prices in the future... but i dont collect to sell :)
I'm not a "collector" but have owned most major systems since early 80s (Sega first for me!)...the Wii U impressed me when I first tried it before launch at the Nintendo store in NYC. I bought one thinking it was more appropiate for my 6 year old son (compared to my xbox 360/One). Maybe not volumes of games like Sony and Microsoft, but what it had impressed me. We still play Mario Kart 8, and as I find the time I'll try to get through Breath of the Wild - probably my favourite game of the last 5 years. I didn't have the original Wii, so I will also say I was impressed with Metroid Trilogy and Super Mario Galaxy - and if your a gamer first and don't care about the collectibilty, these were (hopefully still!) available on the Wii U through the estore. Every other game you mentioned are definitely fun as well!

Could not agree more. Been collecting as much Wii U as I can while I have been finishing out my Gamecube curated collection.
I started about 2 years ago when you could easily find the Hello Kitties and what not at GameStop for about $10. One thing you should also check out is the NA version of the official Nintendo Lens Cleaner, it's incredibly hard to find and was only sold on Nintendo's website for a few years. It had "Wii U Lens Cleaning Kit" in English and not Japanese and is currently going for about $100 sealed which is already crazy.
I agree with you John 100%, in fact, it looks like that there are already a few games that are creeping up in value, at least in the U.K. so it’s time to start buying up this format.
P.S. Whilst I gave Wii U nowhere near as much time it deserves I love the console to bits. 💞💞💞
Everyone should have a WiiU in their collection . I really enjoyed it with my kids and still do , even though we play the Switch and PS4 more these days . We still go back to the WiiU and it is still hooked up to my TV to this day since the day that we bought it .

I really enjoy collecting for the Wii U. I have 52 physical games for it so far including both Bayonettas in one. All those plus the Wii version of Rodea. I've also picked up a couple imports out of curiosity. I noticed you have some of the boxed games like Super Mario Maker in box protectors. I have been trying to get ones that will fit all my boxed Wii U games but haven't had much luck. Oh, and I have a whole bunch of digital titles. Fun stuff.

I had my Wii U since December 2012, when I got one for Christmas with NSMBU and Nintendo Land. My dad also got me an NSMBU strategy guide to go with it. Honestly, the Wii U got me back into gaming and I used it for years. I have a few eShop games, including Fatal Frame and Meme Run. I'll always have a soft spot for the Wii U.
I bought my Wii-U back in January (2019) I absolutely love my Wii-U currently playing Metroid Prime Trilogy such a perfect game. I have about 12 Wii-U games I picked up through out the months (mainly the games I personally wanna play) Zelda games , Mario games and other WiiU exclusives.

Now is the time for sure. Ever since Mario Maker was released I have had my eye on this console, I finally caved yesterday and got a 32 gig system complete for 104 from a game store! I also got the pro controller, a og gamecube controller and the needed plugin for it along with 4 very good games and I came out right at about 200 for everything so I feel like I done pretty well. I cant believe how cheap the games are for this system, but I've never really collected for a system at the right time either.

I got a wii u about 6 months ago on the cheap and spent very little on all those ported games compared to the full priced ports on the switch i saved hundreds. I have noticed the used wii u games becoming harder to find this will be hard system to collect for later on this video is spot on
I agree with this video. Especially since there are some really awesome and unique experiences on the Wii U. I am happy that you brought up Tokyo Mirage Sessions, as that is one of my favorite JRPGs that I will be in shock if it ever got ported.
I bought a WiiU off ebay for about 40 bucks, and bought the tablet at a Goodwill for about $10. In total, I spent $50 bucks. The greatest thing about the deal was that it had BOTW, Super Mario Kart 8, and a couple games from the Virtual Console already installed. Since that day, I have been playing BOTW more than what I normally would the Nintendo Switch.
I always wanted a Wii U and finally bought one two years ago and currently collecting games for it! Mass Effect 3 is my favorite game on this system!
Watching this video on my Wii U! I Sadly don't play many games on my Wii U, but it is an excellent way to watch youtube videos. Especially using the tablet while playing other systems.
I would argue it's the same for the 3DS. It's at the end of its life and Nintendo has already been dropping support for certain apps and features. Games are still easy to come by but some titles are becoming more and more difficult to find as time passes.

I have a complete Wii U collection. Both black and white models. All 165 physical game releases. Both a black and white pro controller.
I bought the Wii U in March. Mainly because there were about half a dozen titles I was interested in. I was never supposed to buy more games than that, but suddenly I'm closing in on 30 games. I'm not into amiibo, but I found it nice to have the Wii U exclusive games at least. Probably will never go further than that, I have to focus on coimpleting my PAL Dreamcast collection first and foremost. And yes, even on the Wii U the PAL game boxes looks better than the North American ones.
I bought the Mario and Luigi deluxe Wii U set brand new from a Shoppers Drug Mart when the system was still actively being sold. They wanted $199 for it, which at the time was a steal, but I got it for $50 less because I had PC Optimum Points (a rewards program they have) that I was saving up for something big!
I wanted the system purely for Bayonetta 2, which I bought day of release, so yes, it has the original Bayonetta as well!
One game that is a definite must for the system is Batman: Arkham City. It's the "Armored Edition" that has Wii U exclusives using the tablet controller
I got Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate. About as much of a library as I need for it :p

I put 1500 hours into MH3U but that was the 3DS version, so I had to do everything solo.
This can be said for the PS4 too. Now is time to start collecting for the PS4. With everyone gunning for a PS5 and stores running out stock, get a PS4 or PS4 pro for now. There is a lot of great games and hidden gems on the PS4 and you can get games for cheap at Gamestop and on Ebay.
wii u is an amazingly fun system to collect for, finished my collection about a year ago with around 90 games

I picked up 2 Wii u's on Ebay in the UK for £78 one is homebrew with a large hard drive & the other is standard, they're both the black 32gb models.
I was at a Wal-Mart and they had Mario tennis ultra smash for $5 brand new and Super smash bros for Wii U for $15 brand new!
Great video, thanks! I have 37 physical Wii U games at the moment, including some real gems. 17 of those are Collector's Editions. I haven't bought that many multiplatform releases on the Wii U so that's why the number remains quite low.

i just got my wii u a month ago on 1/16/21. i got it for free from a friend. i dont plan on getting a switch. but theres plenty of u titles to play. and all the wii games i can play on it. so that makes it more worth keeping. and since ive had it ive got alot of nes and snes games from the eshop. and i just got a 750gbs external hooked up to it just for all those eshop games. theres alot of those nes and snes games i want to get so i can play em on the big flatscreen tv i have. i got nes metroid and zelda and mario 3 from nes and earthbound from snes. so im having alot of fun with it so far
Great advice. I've always meant to pick up a copy of Xenoblade on the Wii-U. I don't suspect I'll pick up the entire library, but grabbing a dozen or so in the factory seal seems wise.

I have about 25 games for the wiiu and a windwaker HD WiiU console CIB, one of my all time favorite peices of Hardware right behind the Gamecube.
There is still a heck of a lot you can do online, on the Wii U, that we still can't do on the Switch. To me my Switch doesn't feel like a total replacement, while the streaming apps, and all retro game that are dowloadable. You want a Turbo Grafix Mimi? Just download enough on the Wii U. The last batch of good games to download on the Wii U, seemed to be Turbo Grafix 16 games, just to let everyone know
I have a complete North American Collection, I am only missing 5 that need the original artwork. Everything else is Complete in Box! I love both of my Wii U Systems! (one black, and one white)

Im 30 games away from a complete set! Grabbed some great deals at LameStop when they had the 4 for $10 and 4 for $20 deals. eBay has a lot of games for under $5 shipped too! I’ve gotten a few games cheaper brand new Vs used from amazon so you gotta make sure you shop around but there are tons of deals out there for Wii U games!
I still keep my Wii U hooked up even though I have a Switch now. Super Mario 3D World, Pikmin 3, The Wonderful 101, Xenoblade Chronicles X, Twilight Princess Remastered and Virtual Console are all great things the Wii U has that the Switch does not.
I got the 32gb one at barely 80 us dollars. Including 3 games and the Wii u pro controller. I've never owned a Nintendo console but now I have kids and nieces :)

Just picked up a Wii U and 13 Games for $100. Thought about trying to sell a majority of the games to make my money back. However, after playing it, I like it all most as much as I like my Switch. I am going to keep it all now and consider the purchase to be a great deal
A year ago the Wii U used at Game Stop was $129. Currently they are at $109. I picked up a Wii U kiosk this year for just $450. I have one Wii U new unopened in the box that I won from Dave & Busters. This is the next Sega Saturn.

Just bought a Wii U with Mario+ Luigi Bros U, ZombiU, and Mario 3D World. On the next check I’m getting DK: Tropical Freeze, Mario Kart 8, and StarFox:Zero+ Guard. There’s still lots of games that I want, but I’ll get them in due time. They will only go down in price further anyway.
Love my Wii U. I have two. I have to thank Kelsey and Metal Jesus for their buying guide for introducing me to it. The pro controller is one of the best. I play all my Wii games on it/them.
Had my wii u a year now awesome console basically a prototype for the switch my own complaint about it is that you can’t go far from the TV with the main controller that would of been a great feature for it. For me the wii u is up there with the SNES future classic console for sure and the last Nintendo CD based console....... get one while you can 👍🏻
And the Wii U has an awesome variety of Virtual Console games. I'm probably going to be investing a good chunk of change just into filling up my 2 TB hard drive I bought just for the Wii U.
