Something that helped me was going by elimination until I arrived to my most likely combo of Classic with a smaller amount of Romantic. And if I may, by your profile photo I think you could have a good amount of Classic essence, and maybe some Ethereal essence as well!

Would love videos about how to dress modestly as a romantic. I personally don’t want to look the sexy part or have cleavage and most women I know (even if they aren’t religious) don’t. I’d like to keep the soft beauty but keep sexiness private. Romantics can have a hard time finding clothes- they either have to be totally frumpy or too sexy. Your videos have helped A LOT.
Exactly I have the same problem! It's so difficult to find clothes that flatter the romantic type while being modest. I also have ethereal/angelic essence so I'm finding vintage looking styles help achieve the flowy, romantic, modest look for me. Good luck!
It might be worth it getting inspo from soft gamine clothes but making them super-soft super-flowy textured, like the outfits where sg would have paper-y/stiffer/more shapely fabrics you could swap it for a silky or softer knit fabric + follow kibbe's suggestions for watercolor prints For tops I think you could try fitted high necks and/or sleeves with silky fabrics! it will keep the romantic draping on the arms but stay not revealing. for bottoms I would use the same idea with fitting at the ankles if that's okay w you If opting for a skirt it could be, again, something draping but long, and of heavy fabrics like jersey, maybe wool + really small pleats or gatheres (to keep the flow) Probably multi-layered items would work too (jersey bottom layer + chiffon, thin wool or any airy, kind of see through, fog-like texture top layer). I see this idea is mostly represented in skirts, but you probably can find this soft cloudy texture in tops! also it might work the other way around with wearing a big soft draping sweater and skinny/straight/narrower jeans while tucking in the sweater if it's soft enough or just tucking it on one side if you don't want to show the waist (won't make you loose the shape, but won't show too much) Also you could add bigger frills on the edges of the pieces, to give it all even more flow. the idea is like clothes would have a like a waterfall-y statue-like gravity-in-clothes draping vibe and they reveal only the body shape (no skin) and only in movement and top sides of the body (shoulders for exp) I'm no professional but just a kibbe enthusiast, but I hope this can help!♡
In my experience it’s impossible. The more I cover up the more ‘sexual’ I look because it makes my boobs look even bigger. If I wear something loose/sack-ish? My boobs and butt still stick out enough to show shape. The best medium was finding a balance between a bit of revealing clothing (balances out my body shape by opening it up and drawing the eye away from my chest) and not letting it be revealing at the same time. Lol it sounds annoying and difficult because it is 🙃 to a degree I just dress how I want and pretend no one can see me or sexualize me
Layers, girl, layers. 😂 I grew up in the church and went through puberty young (I was a 36C at 13 🙈), so I was getting the modesty talks early on. For church, my go to generally was A-line dresses or skirts, because it’s easy to find longer ones (I liked a smidge over my knees or tea length if I was going to wear a low heel) paired with a soft cardigan or sweater. I could tuck the sweater in a little (not snug) to the top of my skirts for a little waist definition, belt a cardigan over a dress, or I’ve always loved those wrap sweaters because they made me think of ballerinas and what’s more romantic than that? Of course a lace tank under anything a little too low cut, or given I have longer hair I’ve intentionally styled my hair to provide a little extra coverage too. I find texture and color really helps give off the romantic essence as well- buffalo plaid layered over a turtleneck might be modest and keep everything covered but it’s hardly romantic, whereas a pastel colored sweater in a soft fabric with a boatneck neckline exudes cozy romantic vibes while keeping things modest.
Yes! I commented about this on one of her other posts! I don't mind dressing sensual and have always enjoyed it but there's a time and a place. I graduate this semester and am going to start working with k-12 so I need ideas for how to change up my style in a modest and professional way. I want to look decent and not frumpy but I don't want to wear anything to "show off curves" while I'm working with children.
I think I do have romantic essence. I'm a soft dramatic. If I try to do sweet and young, I end up looking up an adult in child's clothing. If I dress very modest, I look dowdy. It's easy for me to just look messy in casual clothes. I wore sweats to take an exam, a lot of students wore that stuff everyday and the guys were like "did you come in your pajamas?", it just doesn't look right on me. I don't necessarily always want to dress sexy, but it definitely LOOKS right on me and I get the most compliments in rich fabrics and low necklines.
I also look so bad in classic clothes and natural flows isn’t for me. Ingenue could work (I don’t have many of those clothes anymore, but I would look like a 12 year old lol 😂). I am not sure if I am romantic. But I just feel at home when watching UA-cam videos about romantic essence or reading articles about it or even seeing the clothes, colors and aesthetic of it. This might explain why my favorite hair colors on myself have been red and black, and my natural hair color is a dark auburn. When I was younger I definitely catered more to romantic style like renaissance tops, flared black pants, bell sleeves, pretty floral patterns, and lots of vintage costume jewelry. Now I dress more for my classic side because of work, including basic white, black, burgundy, or navy blue tops, stripes, straight or wide legged pants, but the big vintage dangly earrings have stayed through several style evolutions. I want to say I have some ethereal essence too but for the sake of functionality I restrict it to jewelry/accessories. Like dramatic silk scarves, long hooded coats/cloaks, vintage boots, and my green elf-hunter gloves. Lol sometimes I like to feel like Arwen from LOTR
I've seen people type her essence as a Gamine like Audrey Hepburn. I think she's probably a Classic Gamine. She might be a Flamboyant Natural but I haven't paid that much attention to her or seen typing videos on her. She looks tall but not too sharp like a dramatic.
So helpful to see different celebs in different ways to get the best vibe- essence has always confused me a little more than the kibbe system- but I feel like I definitely have a combo romantic-ingenue essence- especially after watching this video. I'm a romantic body type which i think kind of translates to my face/overall essence but I also very often get mistaken for being considerably younger than I actually am- which feels much more ingenue.
I'm the same, Romantic body type with a Romantic-Ingenue face. I'm often told I'm much younger looking than I am and always have done. I think the thing that throws me off with the Romantic body type/essence is the idea of womanly sensuality. I don't *feel* like I exude anything remotely close to that, so every time it's mentioned I get a feeling of dissociation. It's probably (most definitely) a confidence thing.

I have this as well but was told as a teen that I have sex appeal despite never wearing revealing clothing. I think mannerisms and confidence play a role with this that isn’t spoken about when it comes to clothes. People assume clothes will do all the confidence for someone when that’s not always true. I never liked the attention is brought me because of actual incidents that resulted in my safety as a female feeling not safe.
This was super helpful. People have suggested that I am R or TR when my body is def SG. I used to try ingenue styles but I looked kind of creepy in them, like an adult wearing childrens' clothes. It brings to mind how Angelina Jolie was suggested to play Cher in Clueless but that idea was turned down because Jolie looks too "knowing." I look cute but not innocent. I can play around with theatrical romantic lines and look right at home, yet when I wear full-on romantic lines, I often look like a kid playing dress up in mommy's clothes. Your advice about dressing in sillhouettes for your body's type while incorporating smaller details from your essence type is something I'll have to try. Thank you for summarizing it this way!

I agree so much with the way you explain this. I am for sure Classic but I have much of the Romantic as well. The Classic balances me out so it is not excessively Romantic, but definitely still present.
I think boiling it down to shapes would help! For example, dramatic is a bold, angular kind of intense. I view it as very sharp lines. So if you look good in more stiff fabrics with structural details, you've likely got a dramatic essences. If you're romantic however, you'd want the clothes to be soft and drapey - making more rounded silhouettes. The same logic carries through when looking for prints. Overall it's more nuanced than that for sure (before anyone comes for me), BUT I do find looking at the shapes makes a huge difference
I used to have a similar trouble. What helped was remembering that Dramatic is lean, sharp, and angular in direct contrast to Romantic softness and rounded shapes. (Joke's on me, the gal who was afraid of being labeled Romantic: 30% of my essence is just that.)
@@AngryTheatreMaker I think my difficulty comes from being steeped in Kibbe for so long. I’m a romantic in kibbe so even if I had majority dramatic essence from my face I would never be able to wear sharp silhouettes with heavy fabrics because it wouldn’t accommodate the curves in my body. Since so many of us have mismatched essence to body type it’s kind of hard and have essence blends it seems hard (at least to me) to distinguish the differences even between extremes. I have an easier time looking at kitchener’s examples of women he calls highly romantic like Sophia Loren and Liz Taylor, but again both those women look really intense to me, though I suppose in a different way from dramatics-I can’t tell though lol, I literally can only pick up on intensity it seems.
@@aoifecalderon383 Ah! I get you. For a long time I thought I was a Flamboyant Gamine; in all probability I was confusing the playful Gamine yang with the more intense Dramatic yang. While it is true that I have shoelace levels of gamine essence, my own blend is majority dramatic-romantic-ethereal. Small wonder I was confused. Add in a deep reluctance to embrace my romantic essence, and you get some idea of the hang-ups I had.
Lilysilk is one of my fav - I have a slew of their button down silk tops which I use for casual wear bc I look frumpy in most casual wear. Side note - I actually think your Essence is there as a child but it manifests differently. I definitely had romantic essence as a little girl but it didn't come off as sexy. I was more glam vs girly even as a 5 yr old
I believe I’m equal parts soft romantic and ingenue. Romantic sensuality, but still carrying a youthful doll like quality. A lot of the women you mentioned I have them on my Moodboard for inspiration. my closet, jewelry and makeup + my Pinterest board all point in that direction.
Are you planning to make videos for other essences as well? If so it'll be really helpful cuz I often get confused and overlook myself as having a certain essence or not. I do have romantic essence as I've confirmed with lots of research but your straight to the point description of the overall vibe and not just focusing on certain facial features really helped me clear all doubts. I am romantic, classic and ethereal. I had no idea why baggy jeans or masculine style cloths, or cute doll style looks never looked good on me but great on others ... I'm a TR with a mushroom/moon/classic/romantic essence. I am a Soft Summer also which is very "smokey" with a very taupe grey cast in skin/eyes/hair colour. Soft Summers (Aishwarya Rai/Mila Kunis/Adriana Lima/Bella Hadid/Bianca Balti/Barbara Palvin/Irina Shayk/Emilia Clarke/Kate Middleton/Miranda Kerr/Dakota Johnson etc) always wear smokey eyeshadow every day too. I'm cliche TR as I have a very high widows peak forehead with dark hair which you mentioned too and rounded cheeks/small jawline but more narrow long upturned Oriental style almond eyes rather than "large/rounded" and are smokey khaki/blue-coloured.

One way of figuring out your essences is looking at which features you got from what parent and how that looks. I just realized I got my romantic features from my father and ethereal and gamine from my mother lol

Im gamine and romantic essences i used to think i was also ingenue because im petite , full cheeks , big eyes , full and narrow lips but i look best in romantic lines. I can look old in ingenue lines especially the more closer to my face they are, for instance, plaits strangely make me look older . When i was younger french plaits would highlight my features, highlighting my romsntic essence but now i notice why. The french plaits highlight the sharpness in my face (wide cheek bones , narrow jawline, upturned eyes) because its pulling the hair out of my face . The plaits themselves however dont look harmonious with me which is even more obvious when i do the normal floppy plaits like in the photo shown. ^ I still love double french plaits which are nice to have once in a while, but the floppy kind would never be my thing. Incidentally i have been told i look like Mila Kunis many times and sometimes i have been told i remind people if megan fox and Angelina Jolie, must be just the romantic essence 😂 i understand the Mila Kunis relation, because we do have similar features and aparrently the same essences too .
I have romantic essence but my primary essence is ingenue, the only thing missing is my third dominant essence that I just couldn't understand, some said they can see natural or ethereal, but it was very mixed. In kibbe, I'm a soft classic, but I don't think I exude that balanced ying yang / classic essence
Would love some recommendations on how to project/demand respect as a romantic dominant. I go against my lines and wear very baggy/desaturated colors because I am so tired of dressing normally (and I mean just jeans instead of sweats) men approach me and decide they can say whatever they want-even unwanted contact. I have very little, if any, of that boyishness that’s associated with gamine essence. You’re right about essence changing, in my opinion. I used to be veeery ingenue, and am still often mistaken for being younger than I am, but have lost a bit of it as I’ve gotten older and, most importantly, have gone through two pregnancies. However, looking at this video I definitely have romantic essence. Mila Kunis and I have a very similar “feel” (essence I guess). Big eyes, high forehead and a tendency to come across as flirty even when I’m not. Luxurious materials such as lace, silk and velvet look nice on me. Thought for some time that I was TR and that was why, but now I understand it’s my essence and not my body type that lends well with such fabrics.

I'm a soft autum dramatic (body type) with romantic and ethereal essence (kitchener). 1.71 M (5'7) 54 kg (119 lbs) very sharp jawline, big nose with a mild hump, big eyes but slightly almond shape and very defined cupid bow lips not thin, not full, brown eyes and natural brown hair, neutral skin tone. (I've been told by 4 different people, except one didn't know about kitchener.)

hi guys, i would like some advice on typing myself. so I know i'm in the natural family since I have wide shoulders and a wide ribcage. i have slight waist definition, moderate breast size (34b), straight hips, and naturally toned legs (i can not remember the last time i worked out lol i'm surprised i still have some muscle definition!).i've noticed i gain weight in my back, stomach, and upper arms. don't think I have the vertical to be a flamboyant natural since i'm only 5'1. but i don't look that short, people usually think I'm average height around 5'5, so i guess this would be a moderate vertical line? even so, i don't have the balance & symmetry to be a dramatic classic. i don't think i'm soft natural either because i'm not fleshy and curvy, so i thought pure natural made the most becuase there not as tall looking as flamboyant naturals and don't have the curve of soft naturals. since pure natural isn't an official option anymore i don't know what my type is. any thoughts?? I do not think Rihanna is ingenue at all. When I look at her I get ethereal, intense, very sensual. I do love the romantic essence though. One of my favorites besides ethereal.

I wore sweats to take an exam, a lot of students wore that stuff everyday and the guys were like "did you come in your pajamas?", it just doesn't look right on me. I don't necessarily always want to dress sexy, but it definitely LOOKS right on me and I get the most compliments in rich fabrics and low necklines.
I also look so bad in classic clothes and natural flows isn’t for me. Ingenue could work (I don’t have many of those clothes anymore, but I would look like a 12 year old lol 😂). I am not sure if I am romantic. But I just feel at home when watching UA-cam videos about romantic essence or reading articles about it or even seeing the clothes, colors and aesthetic of it. It’s also my favorite essence to dress myself into before knowing these essences. ❤️🔥

This might explain why my favorite hair colors on myself have been red and black, and my natural hair color is a dark auburn. When I was younger I definitely catered more to romantic style like renaissance tops, flared black pants, bell sleeves, pretty floral patterns, and lots of vintage costume jewelry. Now I dress more for my classic side because of work, including basic white, black, burgundy, or navy blue tops, stripes, straight or wide legged pants, but the big vintage dangly earrings have stayed through several style evolutions. I want to say I have some ethereal essence too but for the sake of functionality I restrict it to jewelry/accessories. Like dramatic silk scarves, long hooded coats/cloaks, vintage boots, and my green elf-hunter gloves. Lol sometimes I like to feel like Arwen from LOTR

I've seen people type her essence as a Gamine like Audrey Hepburn. I think she's probably a Classic Gamine. She might be a Flamboyant Natural but I haven't paid that much attention to her or seen typing videos on her. She looks tall but not too sharp like a dramatic.
So helpful to see different celebs in different ways to get the best vibe- essence has always confused me a little more than the kibbe system- but I feel like I definitely have a combo romantic-ingenue essence- especially after watching this video. I'm a romantic body type which i think kind of translates to my face/overall essence but I also very often get mistaken for being considerably younger than I actually am- which feels much more ingenue.
I'm the same, Romantic body type with a Romantic-Ingenue face. I'm often told I'm much younger looking than I am and always have done. I think the thing that throws me off with the Romantic body type/essence is the idea of womanly sensuality. I don't *feel* like I exude anything remotely close to that, so every time it's mentioned I get a feeling of dissociation. It's probably (most definitely) a confidence thing.

Im not adult enough for that either- but also i'm 31 and often feel like a grouchy old lady so technically i AM adult enough for looking sensual but still.. it just seems off. between a lack of confidence, feeling more ingenue, and basically only wearing leggings for the last 2.5 years, dressing sensual seems pretty foreign right now.
I have this as well but was told as a teen that I have sex appeal despite never wearing revealing clothing. I think mannerisms and confidence play a role with this that isn’t spoken about when it comes to clothes. People assume clothes will do all the confidence for someone when that’s not always true. I never liked the attention is brought me because of actual incidents that resulted in my safety as a female feeling not safe.

This was super helpful. People have suggested that I am R or TR when my body is def SG. I used to try ingenue styles but I looked kind of creepy in them, like an adult wearing childrens' clothes. It brings to mind how Angelina Jolie was suggested to play Cher in Clueless but that idea was turned down because Jolie looks too "knowing." I look cute but not innocent. I can play around with theatrical romantic lines and look right at home, yet when I wear full-on romantic lines, I often look like a kid playing dress up in mommy's clothes. Your advice about dressing in sillhouettes for your body's type while incorporating smaller details from your essence type is something I'll have to try. Thank you for summarizing it this way!

This video really helped me realize I have both romantic and ethereal essence! I have mostly soft features, but a sharper nose and cheekbones as well.
I agree so much with the way you explain this. I am for sure Classic but I have much of the Romantic as well. The Classic balances me out so it is not excessively Romantic, but definitely still present.

Thank you for making this! I weirdly have a hard time distinguishing between dramatic and romantic because they both seem so intense to me.
I think boiling it down to shapes would help!
For example, dramatic is a bold, angular kind of intense. I view it as very sharp lines. So if you look good in more stiff fabrics with structural details, you've likely got a dramatic essences.
If you're romantic however, you'd want the clothes to be soft and drapey - making more rounded silhouettes.
The same logic carries through when looking for prints.
Overall it's more nuanced than that for sure (before anyone comes for me), BUT I do find looking at the shapes makes a huge difference
I used to have a similar trouble. What helped was remembering that Dramatic is lean, sharp, and angular in direct contrast to Romantic softness and rounded shapes. (Joke's on me, the gal who was afraid of being labeled Romantic: 30% of my essence is just that.)
@@AngryTheatreMaker I think my difficulty comes from being steeped in Kibbe for so long. I’m a romantic in kibbe so even if I had majority dramatic essence from my face I would never be able to wear sharp silhouettes with heavy fabrics because it wouldn’t accommodate the curves in my body. Since so many of us have mismatched essence to body type it’s kind of hard and have essence blends it seems hard (at least to me) to distinguish the differences even between extremes. I have an easier time looking at kitchener’s examples of women he calls highly romantic like Sophia Loren and Liz Taylor, but again both those women look really intense to me, though I suppose in a different way from dramatics-I can’t tell though lol, I literally can only pick up on intensity it seems.

@@aoifecalderon383 Ah! I get you. For a long time I thought I was a Flamboyant Gamine; in all probability I was confusing the playful Gamine yang with the more intense Dramatic yang. While it is true that I have shoelace levels of gamine essence, my own blend is majority dramatic-romantic-ethereal. Small wonder I was confused. Add in a deep reluctance to embrace my romantic essence, and you get some idea of the hang-ups I had.

Lilysilk is one of my fav - I have a slew of their button down silk tops which I use for casual wear bc I look frumpy in most casual wear. Side note - I actually think your Essence is there as a child but it manifests differently. I definitely had romantic essence as a little girl but it didn't come off as sexy. I was more glam vs girly even as a 5 yr old

I believe I’m equal parts soft romantic and ingenue. Romantic sensuality, but still carrying a youthful doll like quality. A lot of the women you mentioned I have them on my Moodboard for inspiration. my closet, jewelry and makeup + my Pinterest board all point in that direction.

I'm a TR with a mushroom/moon/classic/romantic essence. I am a Soft Summer also which is very "smokey" with a very taupe grey cast in skin/eyes/hair colour. Soft Summers (Aishwarya Rai/Mila Kunis/Adriana Lima/Bella Hadid/Bianca Balti/Barbara Palvin/Irina Shayk/Emilia Clarke/Kate Middleton/Miranda Kerr/Dakota Johnson etc) always wear smokey eyeshadow every day too. I'm cliche TR as I have a very high widows peak forehead with dark hair which you mentioned too and rounded cheeks/small jawline but more narrow long upturned Oriental style almond eyes rather than "large/rounded" and are smokey khaki/blue-coloured.

One way of figuring out your essences is looking at which features you got from what parent and how that looks. I just realized I got my romantic features from my father and ethereal and gamine from my mother lol

Im gamine and romantic essences i used to think i was also ingenue because im petite , full cheeks , big eyes , full and narrow lips but i look best in romantic lines. I can look old in ingenue lines especially the more closer to my face they are, for instance, plaits strangely make me look older . When i was younger french plaits would highlight my features, highlighting my romsntic essence but now i notice why. The french plaits highlight the sharpness in my face (wide cheek bones , narrow jawline, upturned eyes) because its pulling the hair out of my face . The plaits themselves however dont look harmonious with me which is even more obvious when i do the normal floppy plaits like in the photo shown. ^ I still love double french plaits which are nice to have once in a while, but the floppy kind would never be my thing. Incidentally i have been told i look like Mila Kunis many times and sometimes i have been told i remind people if megan fox and Angelina Jolie, must be just the romantic essence 😂 i understand the Mila Kunis relation, because we do have similar features and aparrently the same essences too .
I have romantic essence but my primary essence is ingenue, the only thing missing is my third dominant essence that I just couldn't understand, some said they can see natural or ethereal, but it was very mixed. In kibbe, I'm a soft classic, but I don't think I exude that balanced ying yang / classic essence

Would love some recommendations on how to project/demand respect as a romantic dominant. I go against my lines and wear very baggy/desaturated colors because I am so tired of dressing normally (and I mean just jeans instead of sweats) men approach me and decide they can say whatever they want-even unwanted contact. You’re right about essence changing, in my opinion. I used to be veeery ingenue, and am still often mistaken for being younger than I am, but have lost a bit of it as I’ve gotten older and, most importantly, have gone through two pregnancies. However, looking at this video I definitely have romantic essence. Mila Kunis and I have a very similar “feel” (essence I guess). Big eyes, high forehead and a tendency to come across as flirty even when I’m not. Luxurious materials such as lace, silk and velvet look nice on me. Thought for some time that I was TR and that was why, but now I understand it’s my essence and not my body type that lends well with such fabrics.

I'm a soft autum dramatic (body type) with romantic and ethereal essence (kitchener). 1.71 M (5'7) 54 kg (119 lbs) very sharp jawline, big nose with a mild hump, big eyes but slightly almond shape and very defined cupid bow lips not thin, not full, brown eyes and natural brown hair, neutral skin tone. (I've been told by 4 different people, except one didn't know about kitchener.)

hi guys, i would like some advice on typing myself. so I know i'm in the natural family since I have wide shoulders and a wide ribcage. i have slight waist definition, moderate breast size (34b), straight hips, and naturally toned legs (i can not remember the last time i worked out lol i'm surprised i still have some muscle definition!).i've noticed i gain weight in my back, stomach, and upper arms.
