Planer boards work really well for trolling for bass I have one each side been doing it for decades, I troll 3 to 4 rods your cover areas on the planers that you won’t get at with standard trolling tightlines 😎🐟

A tip for trolling two softs plastics one each side is to put a float set with stop knot to your main line , when you get a fish on one this stops the lure getting snagged on the other rod when your stopped or fighting the fish,I also use inline leads up to 3oz winter , floating plugs /divers work very well with planers also.you can also troll livebait with them Tightlines 😎🐟

Calibrating your counter is key for accuracy.

Yes and no I would say to counter on reel for planers if your using a metal one then yes as that’s for deep water trolling ,but for plastic planer eg like the church tackle one or the one in this upload no ,if your using trolling braid that’s different colours every 10 feet that be fine for most bass trolling, the church tackle planers not rise in the water much , I do use counters on my mono trolling rods as you need to put out loads of mono out there for tuna/ Mahi but. Tightlines 😎🐟
