    Does anyone else get a little sad when the music starts because it means the end of the video is approaching? :)

    I wish more people in the world would learn not woodworking skills but what it means to pay attention to details. So much of the stuff we consume whether it is food, clothing, entertainment, music, writing etc all are getting homogenized and people are not willing to put in the time and energy into the craft, whatever that maybe. I don't believe Mr.Ishitani does anything so as to gain more monies. I think it is a character trait that has been instilled in him to want to pay attention to detail and has a work ethic to deliver quality and not to compromise on it. I share this video and others with people hoping they may learn the value of the quality work and what does into making it happen.
    I along with the many 1000's who watch these videos seem to have great respect for the work and the presentation. Thank you..

    Every time I watch one of your videos, I'm amazed at how something that looks at first to be simple is done with such jaw-dropping skill that its elevated to another level. The tenons into the round legs is a great example - utter perfection. Please keep the videos coming.

    To me, your videos are pure meditation. Even your dog is adding to the calmness.
    Thank you for taking the time to make those videos.

    You’re my all time favorite furniture maker/woodworker I’ve found on UA-cam and an inspiration for me to get into Japanese woodworking as well. I wish you could make a video telling us how you got into the craft and just more information about yourself. Anyway keep up the amazing work and I can’t wait for the next video.

    We can learn a lot from our Japanese brothers. I am an old craftsman but yet I am still in awe
    at this man. What a great companion his dog is, and lucky to have a haircut from such a man.

    Again, beautifully simple design with the intricacy in the joinery discrete so as not to distract from the lovely cross section table top. Certainly a table for the generations this one. Big shout to Chei for the sublime editing and Shiro for just being Shiro too.

    OMG... 2.20 - 2.35 takes hours for me. No machines and a love for perfection takes a lot of time. 😉☺
    I love your designs and your videos.
    Thank you very, very much!

    Happy greetings from Germany to Japan! 👋🏻🙂🇩🇪🇯🇵❤

    • @TjallingBlackCat
      @TjallingBlackCat 6 років тому +1

      Hours? I would at least invest in a drill press then, to hog out most of the material first. But still, there is little more satisfying than doing it all by hand!

    • @katievonolendorp5894
      @katievonolendorp5894 6 років тому +7

      Tjalling Might be true best for you. But this is just a hobby for me. A peripher one. So it makes no sence to invest in machines. And I like hand crafts more. I love it to connect woods completely by hands or with old techniques. Are you Skandinavian? Then, you know what I mean. For example by roasted wooden dowels hammered into the hole and then watered. You can never disconnect this and it is hand-made and without any glue. I love it!
      And it takes hours for doing this on the chairs am working on. So doing the same many times. And I need to do it perfectly. I don't like mistakes, even when nobody can see them. But I know that they exist when I don't work perfectly. 😉
      Just when building a carport or a little chicken coop I allow smaller invisible mistakes. 😉😄

    That is a beautiful, majestic piece of wood - looks like it could be a hundred years old (trying to count the rings for its age). I am so glad you left it natural and did not smooth down the bark. I love that you made the legs and trestle support the slab of wood, almost like an offering!
