SQUARERULE FURNITURE - Making a Simple Low Table

  • White oak low table.
    A person who subscribes to UA-cam in South Korea ordered it.
    Thank you for your patience despite the long production period due to the schedule.
    The table top was replaced in the middle of the video.
    Although it does not appear in the production video, it was inevitably newly produced due to serious cracks during work.
    I personally liked the pattern and color of the first table top, but it could be mistaken for a defect in the furniture, so I made it again.
    Picking wood, matching colors and getting results that your opponents are happy with is still difficult, but that's what we do.
    Thank you for watching.

    To design and create a piece that is simply beautiful is an amazing skill. Simplicity does not afford the artist decoration or distraction to veer the eye away from flaws. Each perfection is a perfect imperfection.... A wonderful piece of functional art. Thank you...

    A beautiful and elegant small table. It looks the perfect size.
    I really like the little details, such as the little chamfers on the underside that you gently adjusted, and the grain choice for the top - I was waiting for that last board to be changed to match the others, which you did at 2:13. And also, new tool day. I’m a big fan of Lie-Nielsen (I’m guessing it was a 2nd hand number 4), and it looks like a 60 1/2, but it doesn’t look like a Lie-Nielsen, so I’m guessing it’s a Stanley Block Plane? New tool day is always a good day!
    Anyway, how are you my friend? It’s good to see you posting a video again and I’m glad you’re keeping busy. I see that your family is still getting out and enjoying the fresh air. It looks like an interesting place, especially with what appears to be a cruise ship on the edge of a cliff face.
    Take care and all the best to you. Have a lovely afternoon / evening.

    • @squarerulefurniture
      @squarerulefurniture  2 роки тому

      New Year's greetings are late
      How have you been? As a last memory, I quit my job and started carpentry in earnest, but I don't know if it's progressing well.
      Lie-Nielsen planner has a number 4 and a 4 1/2.
      The 4th planer came out at a good price in the used market, so I bought an additional .
      As it is old, there are many traces of other people, but I will refine it and make it my own.
      I went on a trip to a distant beach with my family after a long time, and this week I went on another trip with my family to a historic site.
      It will probably be a little bit busier with education from March.
      Don't forget that your health always comes first, and have a good weekend!

      Yes, I have the same question. How you stabilized the tabletop. I didn't see the any gusset. Thanks

    • @squarerulefurniture
      @squarerulefurniture  2 роки тому +1

      I don't know if the interpretation is correct.
      Do not attach more than 3 pieces.
      Precisely attach 2 pieces at a time, check the cross section, and attach 2+2 pieces again.
      Depending on the tree, depending on the time and the overall width of the board, it is determined that there is unconditional deformation and works.
      The deformation is reinforced to some extent with the hardware of the frame.
      First, start working on the table top and first finish the oil.

      Most of the wood we use uses 6 to 8% moisture content when completely dried.
      I think that the deformation of the wood almost comes while processing the wood or depending on the working period.
      We work first and work on oil finish to stabilize it.

      현재 브랜드만 바뀌고 위넥스툴에서 판매하는걸로 알고 있습니다.

    The only simple thing about this table was putting it together. Everything else requires skills that most don't have. Video is click bait.

      I have no intention of fishing with the title.
      It means design simplicity.
