Thanks. I’ve been dealing with a his for years. Banging on it doesn’t work anymore. I never thought it was so easy to pull that cluster off. Thanks so much for the video.
mines been doing this since 99. had a feeling it was this simple but couldn’t find anyone else with the same issue (smacking it) thanks for the video man, great help.
Great Vid, I am going to change out some gauge lights. What year is your TJ? Mine is 2006 with sand color vinyl and plastics throughout. I want to make my interior the color of yours but can’t remember the name of your color. Do you know the color? I am looking to match the colors! Again great vid!
Another thing that will keep the airbag light on is the light in the airbag selector near the shifter bring burnt out. To replace that one you have to solder in a new one.
I've had the "no bus" happen on mine before. a good rap on top of the cluster and it all came back. Not sure what the difference is between no bus and just dead needles. Probably depends what pin has lost contact in that moment.

This was my exact problem. Thanks alot for the video.
Glad it helped
Thanks - I’m just getting into TJs and your attention to how to get there is as helpful as what you do once you have access -

Thank you!! This helped a lot but didn't totally fix my problem. Any additional suggestions??
What is still going on with yours? Mine is still working perfectly since the fix.
Great video!
Which is the right torx bit size for this job?

How’s it working now? Having the same problem and about to try this
Do you have to completely screw everything back in to determine if it worked?
if the airbag light stays on it's probably your clockspring inside the steering wheel. another common issue with the tj.

Perfect... Thanks!
Great video. I'm having this exact same problem in my '98. Dumb question: did you disconnect the battery before removing the gauge cluster?
Probably wouldn’t be a bad idea, but no, I didn’t.
@@spiguyversgarage9452 Thanks!
When the gauges stop does a 'no bus' come up on your odometer??
No, it doesn't give you any indication other than not working, at least on mine.

I’m going to try this. My speedo, oil pressure, and temp gauges aren’t working. Everything else works fine.
Still working great for me!
I'll try this asap, cause I have to tap my dash about every other day. Also my air bag light stays on.
Awesome! Hope this helps you!
Now I need to figure out why my wipers come on by themselves. I had to remove the fuse.
You didn't check about the ground!
Mine does the EXACT same thing!
