This just goes to prove that true talent, skill and practice is not what makes you famous. In a way i am happy that not everyone knows these guitarists it is something to keep sacred between us all who know and support these geniuses. MANY DO NOT DESERVE THE PRIVILEGE TO HEAR THESE MASTERS.
The thing i love about Jeff are his EXTREMES!! i mean form a monstrously technical and fast solo Like Enemies of Reality to Something like Sacristy and the heart collector!! Brilliant Musician!!
started learning this today, by now i'm doing the intro 45% speed almost perfect.. hope i'll finish it by next sunday so i can show it to my guitar teacher :) his mind will be BLOWN lol
i can't belive this. His tempo is perfect, he doesn't mess up once in the whole fucking life.. It is just amazing, he is absolutely one of the best guitairsts.
"omg this was sooooo helpful I was a n00b but thanks to this video I can play this 100% clean now and I only play for 2 weeks thank you jeff" my friends opinion on this.
The devil theory part at 6: 18 sends shivers down my spine, it's my favorite part from the entire solo record! Jeff admits he took it from Carl Bach, any idea of the original's name?
To those suggesting that Jeff is teaching this stuff just to show off, and that it is not playable by most people: You are just not at this level. There are lots of people who can play this stuff and for them it is useful to see it broken down so they can see clearly how he is doing it. If you are confused by what he is saying or playing, then you aren't ready for this. Personally I found it fine and I can play it at about 90% now because I followed his instructions. A few weeks, should be 100%
Those who do not like Engl amps should watch and appreciate the clarity and tight feel of those amps, I have Savage 120 and my technique improved dramatically because I had to become accurate in picking.
@frailtylives i agree with you 100% it always seems that the most amazing people never get any spotlight because its not about ability anymore its about who can market themselves the best.
@AngryLlamaz i dont know about the beginning but the rest is played on 7 strings, tose monster arpeggios after the stuff that he showed are 7 string arpeggios
Oh, umm Is anyone else sitting there watching him through the part of the video marked "SLOW" but as he continues to get faster and faster, and guitarist fans watching and quitting and quitting - SLOW is still staring us in the face o_o [practises for over9000 hours to learn the first riff at full speed]
@RofICopters Hey comes up with the chord progression first, and since the intro is entirely arpeggios he just plays the notes of those chords.... very fast. The technique he uses to play them is sweep picking and string skipping. If you didn't understand any of that, than remember this: Learn your chords!
I don't like how people are saying he plays better faster, same comments as on the river dragon solo. That's not true. When he plays slowly, he still sweep picks and because he has to hold the note longer the sweeps lose their sustain. When you play it fast this isn't a problem.
agreed Jason Becker is god and despite his condition he can still compose some amazing stuff..thank god for Jason's influence on Jeff cuz he's the future of shred :D cheers
@Scorpiuszeroone Yep, its true. But I think we will get more music as a result of it, with Warrel and Sanctuary, and both Jeff and Warrel doing solo albums. I'm curious to see what attila ends up doing.
@RofICopters Well for me the music comes to me at random times. I know what your are asking the anwser is that he just pics out anything he likes when he is just noolding around and finds a great idea!
this is someone who really mastered his profession. crazy stuff.
flawless, melodic, fast, full og emotion.
... modern shred guitar taken to a new level.
oh, my new influence, excellent guitar, color, and hardware, and inlays
i'm the proudest man in the world to say that i learnt it! so happy
You got it right on the money!!!!Shred is very musical, and jeff is the top of the food chain!!
"Jeff is the best young guitarist."
Hard to argue with that. He's a beast.
I couldn't believe it when I listened to the album now glad to see video of it being played :-)
Oh my God, what an amazing sweater !!!
the sweeps at the start are just unreal!!
Hi, I'm Jeff Loomis. And you arent' really trying to learn this because you know you can't. Just watch me play and stare in disbelief. I'm so awesome.
I broke my wrist trying to go that fast.... Jeff Loomis is GOD.
The thing i love about Jeff are his EXTREMES!! i mean form a monstrously technical and fast solo Like Enemies of Reality to Something like Sacristy and the heart collector!! Brilliant Musician!!
omg omg omg omg omg omg...i'm finally able to play this intro after shit ton of practicing....so freakin' happy right now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Out of all the licks on his instructional dvd, i found this one the most difficult. A masterpiece though.
JESUS 6:20 !!! It's sooooooooooo GREAT !!!! I love it !!!
Jeff I'm so impressed !
started learning this today, by now i'm doing the intro 45% speed almost perfect.. hope i'll finish it by next sunday so i can show it to my guitar teacher :)

The figure for devil theory is just amazing.Beautiful.
I wish could say something like "Damn, this guy's amazing" but his playing said it all for me!

"omg this was sooooo helpful I was a n00b but thanks to this video I can play this 100% clean now and I only play for 2 weeks thank you jeff" my friends opinion on this.
Jeff is so talented! I wish I knew him, then he could teach me...
so good and so cool to break this down for us mortals
The devil theory part at 6: 18 sends shivers down my spine, it's my favorite part from the entire solo record! Jeff admits he took it from Carl Bach, any idea of the original's name?

whenever i can play this i will cry
This guy is amazing.
I memorized it in about 30 minutes but it will probably take me 13 years to master it
i had just the tapping thing on 0:36 in my head for ever, figured it out, glad i know how HE does it :D
*sigh* Jeff Loomis is everything I'll never be. I've accepted that. F*CKING AMAZING!!!
jeff is the best young guitarist. my opinion
and sure nevermore the best new band since 90s
his vibrato's soooo good
this dude is the man!!
Those who do not like Engl amps should watch and appreciate the clarity and tight feel of those amps, I have Savage 120 and my technique improved dramatically because I had to become accurate in picking.
@frailtylives i agree with you 100% it always seems that the most amazing people never get any spotlight because its not about ability anymore its about who can market themselves the best.
amen!!!!!
yeahhh loomis is really good at that
it comforts me that at the very beginning it wasn't perfect. he is human after all....
@AngryLlamaz
i dont know about the beginning but the rest is played on 7 strings, tose monster arpeggios after the stuff that he showed are 7 string arpeggios
I like how it says "figure 24 slow" and yet he plays it faster than I ever could.
"yea so were gonna learn some arpeggios that no one can play. here we go." lol hes so damn good. what a beast.
Dude he is an awesome guitarist even if u don't like his music he is definitely bad ass
Still scratching my head on his "slow" parts! Jesus!
God, I love his tone! XD
@ShredderTheSchecter looking at my Damien 7 now. Damien's are in the Diamond series. Says so on the headstock ;P
I memorized it in 2 days and i'm 13 years old
His tone is fucking amazing.
Oh, umm

Jeff is a great guitarist. He could be as proud as a Lucifer, but He teaches online, how to play figures.
Respect, and good luck !
the best guitarist ..ever
That's OVER 9000!!!
This is insane. I cant play this...yet
@RofICopters

Jeff is a god!!!
"Ok so we're gonna break down the arpeggios... " *BACKROUND EXPLODES*
YES!SOMEONE ELSE!lol
Jason Becker,Jeff Loomis and Chris broderick are the best guitarist out there.
agreed. i dont want jeff loomis to end up like twilight, with everybody AND their mother being a fan of it. takes the honor of knowing it away :D
good....sound is beatiful.... i like ....
MILES OF LOOMIS.
Heads will explode and faces will melt!!!!! \m/
Jeff is Really talented :D \m/
man the INTRO of that song looks like end of the word
refreshing shred!!!
@En1990 He's using his own artist build Damien 7. Schecter made a line for him.
I don't like how people are saying he plays better faster, same comments as on the river dragon solo. That's not true. When he plays slowly, he still sweep picks and because he has to hold the note longer the sweeps lose their sustain. When you play it fast this isn't a problem.
@salmanhzaidi No. I heard maybe he might feature in Jeff Loomis' new solo album.
loomis has to be one of the best guitarists of our time, but sadly i feel he is so underated, i would like to see EVH try miles of machines
@wintershadows
got any good resources to learn all the chord shapes accross the neck?
I love that devil theory riff...
@Valkyrjah It reminds me of Symphony X, its all that beat and a half delay sounds awesome
agreed Jason Becker is god and despite his condition he can still compose some amazing stuff..thank god for Jason's influence on Jeff cuz he's the future of shred :D
cheers
omg, that's funny when I picture Chuck doing that in his pajamas :DD
Dear god, I want his tone so badly it hurts my balls.
I've been wanting to play on a 7 stringer but I want an Ibanez S7 type
@Scorpiuszeroone Yep, its true. But I think we will get more music as a result of it, with Warrel and Sanctuary, and both Jeff and Warrel doing solo albums. I'm curious to see what attila ends up doing.
far beyond fuckin sick... i love him
@JoolsGuitar He tells you he goes into a diminished then adds a chromatic run... Its not the official because of the add on.
Monster of sweeping :O
@MastersShredder Throw Buckethead in there. If you listened to the album From the Coop you would understand
well i officially give up. he's too damn amazing. im going back to learning wildside from motley crue enter sandman.
JEFF IS GOD!
You know what. I can create a lot of noise while playing that intro.
I'm pretty sure Jeff can't do that.
Hell Yeah
xD
his fingers are moving like some tentacles lol..awesome job :)
I thought you were going to break it down slow....
@wintershadows "attila"? you mean williams?
Those xl jumbo frets are so big the fretboard almost looks scalloped!
@blank9870 its manley used for rythm
this man is a fucking genius... beautiful music with 7 string guitars ;D
does his 7 string guitar have an extra high A string or a low B string?
@wintershadows i think the same things. I mean he has to do it slow when hes writing it so yeah how does he know how it sounds like? IDK
Jado Unit has the best arpeggio solo in the whole metal history!
HE NEVER SCREWS UP
@l1u1k1e2
yes it soundl like bucket head because it is the same delay technique. but bucket head learned this from paul gilbert;)
@RofICopters Well for me the music comes to me at random times. I know what your are asking the anwser is that he just pics out anything he likes when he is just noolding around and finds a great idea!
