@@wickedvapour I am blessed to of talked to Wally (his nickname) pretty in depth when my band, Thanatopsis, opened for Death and Nevermore two nights in a row at Berkeley Square in 1995! Nevermore was by far the nicest national act I have ever opened for, especially Warrel, although I think he may of been annoyed by all my questions about Sanctuary lyrics etc. ( it was their first tour supporting their first album so half the set were Sanctuary songs ) Jeff Loomis even wore the Thanatopsis shirt we gave him on stage on the second night! They always remembered me when I saw them on subsequent tours and would always be cordial and friendly! I only wish I could of talked to Warrel the last time I saw him sing on Sanctuary’s reunion tour supporting “The Year the Sun Died” circa 2014-15, but he was sick! He couldn’t hit any high notes at all, so I could tell his health was already declining! When I offered to buy him a drink the last time I saw Nevermore play, he declined because of his diabetes, but I think he fell off the wagon and it wound up killing him, so I began to tear up while watching this videos🥲, because even though I didn’t know him very well, I miss him so much, the world is a less than better place without him being in it, Rest in Power Wally!
So true. I met the band at a show in Portland, they personally walked around the venue chatting with all us kids, I was 18. Jim Sheppard and Warrel Dane took requests from us on their set, Dane cracked nonstop jokes and really pal'd around with everyone. Extremely upfront, straight up mother Fuckers 🤘
Underrated band? They were absolutely massive. Playing sold out shows all over Washington. Listening to them on a shitty cold rainy day here in Seattle hits different lol.
The best lyrics I've ever read... dark and unsettling like few others, yet profound like all time classics from the 60s-70s! AND he was a great (and REALLY unique) singer, to top it all off... How I wish he was here.
@@ashtweth Warrel Dane was diabetic and also was an alcoholic. He stopped taking care of himself. That's why he ultimately expired. I wonder, if he doesn't injure his vocals, while with Sanctuary, if he would still be around... I feel like that right there is probably what really started his alcoholism...
@@ashtweth I was just being factual. I hold Warrel Dane, especially when he was with Sanctuary and very early Nevermore, in the highest regards. I did come up with a solution, the read the last chunk of my first comment. I said I wonder if he is still alive today, if not for him injuring his voice in 1990-1991 like he did.
I deeply regret the death of Warrell Dane, vocalist of Nevermore and Sanctuary that happened this morning at the age of 48, victim of a myocardial infarction. The only thing I can write is Thank you Warrell for the good music and rest in peace.
Think about what your're witnessing here. Fact is, this is arguably one of the most gifted/talented and virtuosic melodic-metal bands any of us have heard...10-4? Keep it Heavy Man! Patrick
Since the passing of Warrel Dane this morning, that will not happen. Perhaps a tribute with guest singers will be sorted out by Warrel's solo band over the coming months.
Arguably... they were solid in terms of bass, VERY good from Van Williams drumming POV, and ABSOLUTE GODTIER in terms of lyrics, songwriting, guitar riffs, solos and singing (harmonies, yodling effects etc).. Nevermore simply had it all, and the mainstream metal fans were too busy listening to metalcore :(
I used this song to wake up my roommate early in the morning, after he repeatedly woke me up by playing music while I was sleeping. Don't get mad, get even!
I got into the band through This Godless Endeavor. Definitely one of their best albums, but I rank Dreaming Neon Black right up there with it. Both are killer albums! \m/
An excelent band. I feel for its split.Warrel Dane, Jeff Loomis, Steve Smith, Van Williams, Jim Sheppard, great musicians! Best formation of Nevermore. They would have success.
I would say, that Jeff Loomis and Chris Broderik are the best combination of Nevermore Guitarist. I don´t know, i like Chris´ Style much more then any other second Nevermoreguitarist, of course Jeff ist the Holy Grail and the number one of Nevermore.
I see many many times in live concert, before Sanctuary and after Nevermore the music of this bands is the way direction for all metal people The voice of Warrel it was a powerful engine Now, The metal has lost a great friend and broders... Thx for your Art R.I.P. WARREL...God bless you
It's still hard to believe Loomis is gone. He was as much as part of Nevermore as Dane. Now what is going to happen to the most intriguing metal band to ever come out of the U.S.? I really don't mind Sanctuary but i don't think they are gonna fill the void. Nothin...nobody on God's grey earth comes close to sounding like Nevermore. Anyway, this song comes from one of my fave albums of theirs and they do an amazing job here. Oh Jeff, please come back soon!
this song is about doing the right thing and being a good person and choosing the right path that helps the world become a better place filled with less suffering. like link from legend of Zelda ocarina of time or majora's mask trying to be strong and courageous to save world and make everyone happy. 7 tongues has to do with chakras and how God isn't what Christians believe and how our DNA codes for our connection to source/God and how wen his energy aligns thru him he knows truth and not from some prophet or by faking seeing God. he's saying the real truth from beyond crushes what u want to believe about truth. and to further complicate he will now state that your convictions lack definition and form. pretty self explanatory when u think about the context he's always getting at in his messages as a person in all his songs. he's saying that ppl have petty convictions in life not just Christians which obscures truth. to see the light is the purest form of reward is either to c the light after u die and to b one with God and gtfo of this life of suffering for trying hard to b an extremely good person or to c the light as in enlightened truth when 7 chakras open and align for source consciousness to spill truth into him and help him speak it and in its purity. how it's a reward for choosing the right path and being such a good person that the gods reward him with being able to speak purest truth/light. the purest reward is not living lavishly in heaven. it is simply to b chosen to live to c light beyond death or chosen to speak truth of light/God/source consciousness. or both. this song is not about lsd or Jainism...

Love Nevermore, never got to see them live. I DID see Sanctuary live in the 80's! Before he blew out his ultra high voice. LOL looking at the date of this recording, I really f'ckup not buying a ton of Bitcoin at about $1 dollar each! Always so clear in hindsight.😅
The more i watch "older" live performances i wonder what happened to Warrel the last 8 years. I don't get it. He looks so fresh here, and 5-6 years later he looks like living under the bridge.
that's what substance abuse can do to you. it catches up at one point. Just an assumption though, I think I have heard that he was a user but i don't know for sure.
Criminally underrated band.
Nevermore never got the credit they deserved. Great songs, great musicianship, and Warrel Dane.

Nevermore is one of the best metal bands ever to walk this earth.
It was heart disease (Forks over knives menu cures that) And also alcohol abuse that got him (ibogaine can help with addiction). Natural medicine.

the galloping dbl bass sweet!

I miss this band so much, I hope they reunite someday...
