Sagas was exactly what I was asking for at the time. It could have been better, and I even remember thinking that then, but it was still super fun to finally get to go all around as these characters
At the time, I made due but the drag of the hitsponge enemies sucked a lot of enjoyment out of it. the co-op, whenever I could convince my friend to play, was at least good for a little goof. We made up our combos in a way that truly felt DBZ, clunky as it was.

Hot take: This game is not nearly as awful as reviews make it sound. I get everyone has their preferences, but I say those reviews are unfairly biased. I didn't grow up with this game as a kid, I didn't even play it until I was an adult. It's no masterpiece, but I wouldn't be so quick to throw it in the same corner as other Dragon Ball games that ARE legit awful: GT Final Bout, Ultimate Battle 22, Legacy of Goku 1, Taiketsu, Dragon Power (yes, this one counts too), etc. It's not as bad as reviews online will make the game sound, again, unfairly biased. Though, there are things about the game I personally don't like, but still not enough to make me hate it. I do think it could have been better, but if I had to pick between this or the nearly endless supply of fighting games, Sagas would get my vote.
So in context for when this game came out, every other DBZ game was a fighter, and to me, that never delivered on the power fantasy that was DBZ. As a kid this game was pretty realistic for its time and back then I loved it👍 haven't played it in forever but yeah it hasn't aged the best. I remember it being pretty repetitive and hard towards the end. I think playing as Bardock and Broly in a somewhat open world at the time was some of the best things I think the game offered
@@onlygoodgamesofficial realistic how though? I'm honestly not trying to be an asshole, just trying to understand your interpretation of realistic for a DBZ game
@@Adobo809 back then the graphics were decent, the gameplay was decent & it was the only game at the time to my knowledge where you could somewhat use bardock and broly In a story mode type of way at the time. So at the time it was a realistic dbz game outside of budokai 3s open world & which ever tenkaichi had the open world. Obviously now it looks dated and some could argue it was dated at the time but in my opinion I think most people found it to be a solid game at the time now not so much but back then we didn't have much

Coming from someone who owned an xbox at the time and was literally 12 or so, i was happy with this game since i didnt know how to get the budokai games i saw at blockbuster :(
Bro, you're about to make me dig up and dust off my 3DS just to play Fusions. I got into it just as I was starting college and only put in 10 hours, but I could tell it was an AMAZING game
I don’t think I ever beat this game. I literally got a bug in the goku and frieza fight where if you grab frieza the game will glitch out and frieza get stuck on goku’s arms.
This brings me back when I was kid in Mexico and at my house we had a store attached to it, and it had an arcade machine and this title was one of em I always played
I absolutely loved this game as a kid. It was so exciting to me to play a DBZ game with couch coop that wasn't just a fighting game. It was cool to fly around as goku and kill saibamen. Went back and tried it again as an adult a few years ago, holy shit it's bad. 9 year old me loved it though, I have very fond memories playing this with cousins and friends. I'll just keep it in my memories. At least Buu's Fury is still as good as I remember.
It was not a bad game, why did everyone hate it so much! Me and my brother rented it and were so addicted to the co op gameplay that my parents got worreid that we were too much into video games and took away the ps2 for 3 months so we would play outside during summer.
I played this a lot growing up. Not gonna lie, THIS game is what made me fall in love with Broly. Playing as him and smoking every bad guy you come across is so awesome 😎 DBZ's Broly was my favorite character for years. And then Super's Broly came along 😇
I always loved this game growing up. It may be mediocre, but I always enjoyed going for all the collectibles and stuff. The only thing that actually annoyed me is that Pendulum mode nerfs every character's damage down to base for the levels, so you can't actually tear through levels as Broly, despite him being the only permanent super saiyan. Speaking of which, you actually can do decent damage to bosses when transformed, it's just reaching that super saiyan transformation that's so difficult and they're basically half dead at that point anyhow, and that's when that option is available. Fighting Cell with Gohan where you can only hurt him as SSJ2 also sucked since the transformation only had half of the SSJ bar and they didn't actually extend it to have a full second bar and SSJ drains it while you're trying to fill it all the way, and you can't fill above SSJ1 without doing that transformation. I still enjoyed going through the levels though and all ths different types of saibamen, even if the boss fights were pretty trash. Knocking them into the rocks in the background was fun too. I actually wish it went harder on the power level scaling so that you took less damage against enemies who you were canonically stronger than and strong bosses who won their fights, like Nappa vs not Goku, should've only had the player fight til they were at half health or maybe even only done 1/4 before switching to play as Goku who could wipe the guy out. There's a lot of ways the game could be better, but maybe that was a part of the fun. It's also possible to glitch underground in a few places like one of the Future Trunks levels when you're climbing over a partially collapsed highway (or maybe I should say partially standing considering how little is not total rubble)
Man, i was and am a huge Dragonball Fan and i remember that i allways wanted to play this as a child but couldn't afford it, glad that i didn't missed anything and instead replayed Budokai 1&2 thousand Times 👌
I've said it before and I'll say it again. DBZ Kakarot was everything Sagas promised to be, and then some. If you were as disappointed with Sagas as I was and haven't give Kakarot a try yet, I'd recommend it. Especially with new DLC coming out in the future.
I remember when I got this game… it was the only dragon ball game on the OG xbox console and I had played budokai 3 on a friends console so I was itching for some dragon ball content like that, you can imagine my dissapointment when I popped that bad boy in and seeing the gameplay on the first level, even the music was soo passive and I remember it cost like 40 dollars so not even cheap, I played it over and over just trying to like it and get my parents money worth 😅
The power trip of playing as Broly was cool for about 5 minutes.

shaolin monks could get a remaster
@@SolidSnake240 Yeah it did ,at the time I never thought Dragonball and Mortal Kombat games would go as far as to make a "beat em up" style games when there best known for 2D Fighting ...The execution could've been better I know but games like this birth groundbreaking ideas 💡 just wished they would've went full throttle on those series ...I feel Sagas and Shaolin Monks would've had better memories if they had sequels ,but that's a kids dream now lol

I really hope you have a review of THE THING lined up for Halloween 👻
As a kid this game was pretty realistic for its time and back then I loved it👍 haven't played it in forever but yeah it hasn't aged the best. I remember it being pretty repetitive and hard towards the end. I think playing as Bardock and Broly in a somewhat open world at the time was some of the best things I think the game offered
Realistic?
@@Adobo809 at the time it was
@@onlygoodgamesofficial realistic how though? I'm honestly not trying to be an asshole, just trying to understand your interpretation of realistic for a DBZ game
@@Adobo809 back then the graphics were decent, the gameplay was decent & it was the only game at the time to my knowledge where you could somewhat use bardock and broly In a story mode type of way at the time. So at the time it was a realistic dbz game outside of budokai 3s open world & which ever tenkaichi had the open world. Obviously now it looks dated and some could argue it was dated at the time but in my opinion I think most people found it to be a solid game at the time now not so much but back then we didn't have much
One armed Gohan, damage to walls, damage increase with ss, float up. In terms of db it was k. @@Adobo809
I used to play this with my brother and friends all the time and never had a bad memory of it. I honestly feel like I could play it now and still feel the same love I did then
I vaguely remember playing this quite a bit. Isn't it like Kakarot but worse?
Coming from someone who owned an xbox at the time and was literally 12 or so, i was happy with this game since i didnt know how to get the budokai games i saw at blockbuster :(
This was the first game to let you play the history of trunks with one arm gohan 🔥 it was good for me, still got this in my collection
Yes I was just telling my buddy about this haha
Bro how the hell did I not know you were mattyplays I was like this guy looks familiar until I realized today
Best part of this game was playing as one armed future gohan. To this day there has been no game where you can play as him that I know of.
Bro, you're about to make me dig up and dust off my 3DS just to play Fusions. I got into it just as I was starting college and only put in 10 hours, but I could tell it was an AMAZING game
I played this with my best friend back when we were in elementary school, and that game rocked!
That cell voice was top notch
I remember beating this game in less than 24 hrs. There's not much to do post game but replay the story as Broly and kill everything in your path
I remember wanting to play this game so badly when it first came out but I didn't have a current gen console to play it.
I always liked the soundtrack and the scouter-like menu interface. Always had a cool vibe to me despite the abysmal gameplay and graphics
I have to go back and play this game, because I LOVED this game as a kid. I wanna see if I still like it
This was my first PS2 game that was included with the brand new PS2 console my dad bought for me and my brother.
This game was actually fun af when I was a kid, if you had a friend/sibling to play co-op with but solo it does suck
I had fun playing this game co op. It’s a rusty game but I would like to see an updated version
You should totally do Ultimate Battle 22. I remember being soo disappointed with that DBZ game as a kid.
Using cheats to unlock all moves made it super fun, also was a fun little adventure game with epic show edits and narration
I rented this game as a kid, but I remember absolutely loving it. Nostalgia glasses are a hell of a thing.
I remember being hyped for this game back in 2005. Man what a bummer
This is in my top 3 all time favorite DBZ games have so many memories with it
I've said it before and I'll say it again. DBZ Kakarot was everything Sagas promised to be, and then some. If you were as disappointed with Sagas as I was and haven't give Kakarot a try yet, I'd recommend it. Especially with new DLC coming out in the future.
I like it though I always felt that Dragon Ball sagas was like the precursor to Dragon Ball Z Xenoverse
How lol
I like the Mass Effect background. Probably my second favorite game series in terms of stories, only beaten by Legacy of Kain.
