Thanks for playing this guitar in a ‘realistic’ manner so us mortals get a realistic idea of what this guitar sounds like in the ‘real world’. I hate so called ‘reviews’ by show-offs that play guitar in a manner that only few of us can. Great stuff of course but they can make any guitar sound great and is not very helpful when looking for a review. Your review was actually extremely helpful, thanks.
I have the 214 ce DLX and absolutely love it. Played the Koa version in the guitar store a few days ago and holy crap! It's freakin orgasmic. Gorgeous sounding instrument. My DLX is jealous.
I have one and it's nice. Now it's not a $3000 Taylor but it's perfectly fine, even better than fine. If you don't want bright then don't buy a Taylor. Thick picks and different strings can help with the brightness though.
I've just bought this after debating between the standard 214 and a myrtlewood breedlove. From playing in the shop the koa to me sounded much better but was a tough choice between this and the breedlove.
They sound beautiful but break easy... video response ua-cam.com/video/38-9G21wjRs/v-deo.html I guess if I bought a cheaper model, I would not have a problems with taylors. Taylor said if caused by humidity, then my fault. You have parts of 6 states in which Taylors can live without damage anywhere else and they break. So my beef is not the Taylor sound, but with the quality of guitar that cracks less than two years after purchase, this guitar is not made to be a durable product. I spent $1000 on it. Three friends of my local bluegrass community told me their taylors had split as well. Taylor guitars are not made to last.
@@samboelguapo6826 I would say spend less and get a better guitar than a Taylor. They have this reputation and slick marketing, but there are cheaper instruments in every music shop, that blow Taylors away. Try Faith, Crafter, Tanglewood etc.
Every guitar is different, I played several and one shined through the others. It’s partly a luck of the draw as to the tree it’s made from, and every condition that tree went through affects the tone due to density variation
I bought one 3 weeks ago. Absolute potty. Bright to the point of annoying. Listening fatigue very shortly after starting a set with it. Lasted 15 minutes at the gig. No coaxing a good tone out of the pickup. EQ, amp settings, mixer adjustments, NOTHING saved this guitar from being the single most embarrassing guitar purchase in my 54 years of playing. I obviously got a lemon. The guitar you are playing here is nothing like the tones I get out of mine. Mine is super easy to play, nothing you can't do on it. Finger-style, flat pick, strumming or pounding, it FEELS awesome. Plays fast and smooth. But I have never had an electric/acoustic guitar you can't successfully adjust to compensate for deficient tones. This sounds like shite. Zero bass. Like dead rubber bands. 3 sets of strings later I am convinced I got a turd of a guitar.
Michael Harvey It’s actually real koa wood (super thin layers) with poplar sandwiched in between. I have the 214e dlx in my collection and it gives my 518 First Edition a run for its money. No shame for it’s price point.
Okay. So, maybe not glued together in this case. Just "sandwiched". Although it sounds the same to me. I definitely wasn't trying to shame the instrument for the price. It's a great value. I personally wish it had a solid (not layered) wood body. Collectors dig that stuff.

Just played this bad boy at my local shop, and fell a little bit in love... beautiful guitar with amazing sound!
Just bought one, absolutely love it
Hello, what was the retail price when you bought it? Thanks!

I like mine, you can adjust your amp to take care of the brightness

Bright is good for the type of Bluegrass i play
Sam! amazing video :) Loved it!

I just bought mine and it is wonderful

I’m thinking of getting the Taylor 214ce deluxe koa version. Would anyone recommend it? C:
try martin too so u know . . .
I just bought a 214ce used. Is there any way to tell if it’s koa or rosewood?
If it says 214ce-K then it’s the Koa model. Just bought one today and i absolutely love it!
Just a thought, if demoing any guitar, play some single notes.
Nice sound
Sounds gorgeous. Except when plugged in.
What do you mean except when plugg in?
Nonsense. Mine sounds amazing plugged in.
@@BabbleOn in the video, not the actual guitar.
i'm about to buy martin djr 10e or gs mini, until i hear this omg its like night and day. the price kinda pretty close. . . .
I was borrowing a friend's gs mini when started playing and just got this guitar. It's so much better in every way. definitely worth the extra cost.
Does anyone knows what songs he played for first? Thanks
all you need is love ...beatles
@@sarasky457 Yeah I was sure that was this song, but he plays it in an unconventional way. Really nice and rich of colourful embellishments. Thanks
He also played "The Return of the Man That Never Came Back". Great tune!
Just bought this. It’s way too tinny and bright don’t you think ? No warmth on the low end
I consider buying one, do you recommend it?
I have had one of these for over a year now and i love it but i do agree it is a bit to bright and it isnt that great plugged in.
@@carlosayson4074 personally i would say save up a little bit more money and possibly get a 314ce

Radiohead :)

Then get a martin... Taylor is known for brighter sounding guitars, you dippy.
Ah that's a shame - I'm assuming you got a dud, as I have no such complaints and I have several high end acoustic guitars.
Would an external preamp give you more tonal control?
Its a shame the back and sides aren't solid wood. Just layers of glued together patterns.
