@@jakefromstatefarm1405 if you enjoy Chris Cornell, just in case you aren't aware of his other works. Check out Soundgarden and an Album called Temple of the Dog. Him and Eddy Vedder sing those songs on that album. That first Audioslave album is legit start to finish. The rest of their work is pretty good with few amazing tracks, but that's just my perspective. Others seem to enjoy it. First album takes all by far thiugh

For me #01Zero is the hidden gem of Audioslave. That and Wide Awake.

Audioslave albums had a disclaimer in the notes that all sounds were made with guitar, bass, drums, and human vocals because Chris Cornell and Tom Morello could do such insanely unique things with their voice and guitar respectively that a lot of people assumed they must be using computers or synthesizers.

Lol And no Eddie though isn't on that song. He does the song "Hunger Strike" with Cornell on Temple of Dog album. And if you like grunge and never heard of Mudhoney you should check em out. They were pre Nirvana as far as grunge. "Touch me im sick" was the grunge anthem is Seattle before Nirvana and "Smells like teen spirit". 👍

I saw Alice in Chains sing this live a few years back, with William Duvall singing Chris Cornell's parts. Jerry said he thought it was the only time they'd ever done it.

In the song Loud Love by Soundgarden, the first note is a wailing guitar sound followed by Chris singing a high pitched wail, they blend in so well it's hard to tell when the guitar ends and Chris's voice begins.
I did a horrible job of explaining that, but when you hear it you'll know what I mean.

To avoid confusion, there’s a more recent movie with the same name. The footage used here is from the great classic made in 1971. I owned a 1970 Dodge Challenger ❤️

The vocal technique at the end of the track was achieved by lightly tapping his throat while holding that note.
I hope that's true, I did that when my old band performed this song and it felt so bad vocally to do it!! Figured it was the only way, listening to it now not so sure.

The only time I've destroyed one CD from usage let alone a second time. I'm on third but at this point it's a lossless rip I have on my android. This is the top album of time for me along with other greats.

Yall need to listen to more Soundgarden. Black Hole Sun is not their best stuff. Watch Outshined and Rusty Cage. Slaves and Bulldozers is one of the heaviest songs ever! Searching With My Good Eye Closed is a trip. Anything off Badmotorfinger is badass. Also check out Hunger Strike by Temple of the Dog. Chris Cornell fronted band.

You have heard the people playing the instruments in a previous reaction video. The people playing guitar, bass guitar and the drums are from the band called rage against the machine, and the singer is from soundgarden. Beautiful superband! RIP Chris Cornell❤
The sound at the end that sounds kinda like bagpipes, can be made by gently chopping on or near your Adams apple with your hand, while making a bagpipe like sound.

This whole album is great it varies so much. My best friend and myself were fortunate enough to see Audioslave twice. We got to see Chris hit his throat with the side of his hand like a knife to make that unique sound.
I got to see Cornell 18 times. Soundgarden, Audioslave some solo shows on acoustic. The final time was with the only Temple of the dog tour

I figured this out a week before reading your comment, like 2 weeks after i listened to the song for the first time, i was doing an impression of Spongebob's laugh, which i can do without tapping my throat, but then i did it, and i ended up laughing with my own voice and kept doing it and it clicked.
For the studio version, he used a microphone and slapped the side of his vocal cords.

I think one hurdle some hip hop heads might have with rock is that in many (but not all) songs the vocals are more of an instrument and the lyrics are secondary. Some songs - even entire subgenres, the lyrics are completely unintelligible. If you can get over that, rock really just becomes an exercise in expressing emotions. I know you guys have already reacted to Rage Against the Machine but you should check out their other stuff. The lyrics are more literal but there's still that emotionally instrumentation that Lex fully embraces.
Good point. Most reaction channels overanalyse the lyrics and content of the song rather than the actual musicianship and emotion of rock and metal. The lyrics to this are so vague anyway, its really just an excuse for Chris to belt out his power vocals.
Lyrics may be secondary, but other than a handful of rap artists and Zak De La Rocha, Cornell’s lyrics and command of the language are way beyond most hiphop.
The scenes of the old Challenger being chased by cops is from the movie Vanishing Point from 1971.
You definitely need to check him out with Temple of the Dog. Also had Eddie Vetter (Pearl Jam) singing with him.

@@jhamilton1007 Temple of the Dog was a super group made up of the best Seattle had to offer at the time. They were raising money for the family of Andrew Wood, the lead singer of Mother Love Bone who died of an overdose. The surviving members of Mother Love Bone would go on to become Pearl Jam with Eddie Vedder taking over lead vocals. There was just the one album and concert.

that last part was a manual manipulation of the larynx. basically tapping the adams apple gently to ululate vowels. it's a technique mainly used in middle eastern compositions.
This song hit me a different way than it did most people. My mother had a heart transplant back about the time this song came out. The lyrics represented it perfectly. Built with stolen parts a telephone in my heart somebody gave me a priest. After her surgery she had a hard time learning how to adjust. Nail in my hand from my creator you gave me life now you gave me life now show me how to live. The lyrics go much deeper but I don't have time to explain. This is a collaboration between Sound Garden and Rage against the machine awesome song
Lex, what you're describing that you like about this type of rock music is called dynamics. The whole 90s era of rock (especially grunge) used dynamics a lot. Low notes, slower tempo and an overall mellower feeling in the verses and then loud, higher tempo, higher notes in the chorus. Makes for phenomenal music.
