Thank you very much Sir!
Just replaced both batteries on my e-350 7.3 Diesel.
I’m a girl, 26 and don’t have any experience with cars.
Will take a looker your other videos and see if I can do all the preventive maintenance by myself 💪🏽
Man this guy is "step...by...step"...i think my 6 year old son could watch this video and do this job no problem! Very good video sir! 👍
I love Jim. He's a pro. And he's not a in-your-face loudmouth with gallons of ink all over his body. Respect!
Thanks for your input and for watching.
I keep letting my truck sit too long and having to do this... This is at least the third time I have watched your video because I forget the order to reconnect the leads. Thanks for the great, helpful video!
Bryan, try using a battery tender on your battery if your truck sits a lot
Really helpful - told me all I needed to know to get the job done! Thanks!
Even 8 years later this video is really helping people. Thank you so much!
Part number on these batteries are 65C. Normally held in with a 8mm on each side and 10mm or 12mm on top.
Great video! I was able to swap out the batteries of my 2016 F250 Super Duty Diesel with confidence after watching this. Much appreciated.
Same here! It took me about 20 minutes to change my f-250 2006 super duty’s batteries
Hi Jim, Thanks for the video it will help with my battery swap. If I could make a suggestion; It would have been nice to see you attempting to start the truck with the old batteries (slow/ long cranking), then show the battery swaps (as you did) and then show the finished work with a quick easy start-up of the old gal. Anyway, thanks again... I am off to replace mine now.
It's the Get It Done Home Repair guy!
Thanks for noticing.
Jim, I was taught that depending on the action you were carrying out determined the cable you connected or disconnected first. If you are disconnecting a battery that would be a negative action so you would remove the negative side first. If you were connecting a battery then it would be a positive action and you would connect the positive side first.
That has made it easier for me to remember the correct order. Just thought it might help others.
Thanks for sharing that Tommy-
Good video, still scared of getting shocked tho 😂🤦♂️
Never thought about it before...Considering I would of course need a second set of hands to control the hot cables...couldn’t I do one at a time and not loose my memory settings?
Thanks for watching.
Jimthecarguy very welcome! But, is there a problem replacing one battery at a time? Leaving the cables live? I get the safety peace...thank you
Just curious about your opinion on the quality of batteries used, versus using Ford batteries? Thanks, I’m changing mine tomorrow.
What about leaving your batteries unhooked for 24 hours. And turning your lights on to drain the capacitors? Then driving it slow in the city? Help I'm having major issues replaced everything. Well not everything.
Thank you sir you' were a big help! I bought my first F-350 last year before watching your video, I didn't even know where to start!! 👍
Hello Sr. I just subscribed to your channel. I have a question.. I disconnected both of the batteries in a 2005 f 250 but I’m not sure if I disconnect both of the negative first, it’s going to be a problem to connect them back??
I have dual batteries on my powerstroke, they both need replaced, is it ok to do one side at a time?
Hi Jim. Thanks for the great videos. Quick question about the battery cables on my 2006 Super Duty, 6.0 diesel. There are two cables attached to the positive terminal of the driver’s side battery, one large, one smaller. On my truck, the smaller one is shorted directly to ground, and draws ~ 4A if the batteries are fully charged, so the batteries drain pretty quickly. Do you have any ideas about why this cable is shorted to ground? Where does this cable go? Is there an easy way to check the cable itself? Thanks, Brian
Are you still having this problem ?
Please help. I changed out the 2 batteries. But the only thing I did wrong was connect the negatives first then positives. Now the truck wont crank. Was just slow cranking before battery swap. Found both batteries were bad. Theres power to lights and interior fan etc. Just no crank at all. Only gauge on is fuel/water hazard. Could really use help thank you.
Replaced batteries now no start.
Thanks Jim! Clear, concise instructions.
Thanks Jim
when you reconnected the new batteries why didn't the hood light turn on??? Also, why did you not explain the proper procedure for "re-training" the computer/transmission without the use of your computer tool that you didn't use on this swap out?
Because you don't have to re-training" the computer/transmission just get in and drive.
I hv s 2008 f250 turbo diésel i read leave one side connected to keep from having to reset something?? what do they mean?
Thank you for simple concise video. Replaced my batteries yesterday on my ‘04 F250 with 108k miles…
You didn't clean or treat battery or cables. I doubt they'll make it four years.
Looking for a video showing second battery under chassis on passenger side about midway under the box. Not sure how to get that battery out.
is this procedure the same for a Chevy duramax diesel battery change ?
Should be. They are both dual battery designs.
Witch one is the primary battery
Both batteries are used equally there is no primary and secondary
Would this work for a 2008 v12 diesel as well
Show me a picture of that V-12 diesel, please.
Just here to see if anyone else is surprised the nuts are metric. I’m officially old. Thanks for the video.
Thanks for watching.
Dual, not duel.
Hey English teacher: maybe they’re dueling batteries!🤣
how test diesel dual battery?
You will need to disconnect one battery from the other in order to test them independently from each other.
I did this and not my alarm won't shut off. Has this happened to anyone?
Didn’t figure it out?
Perfect thank you for the help
Great video
Batteries, not battery's.
I connected the positive and negative leads on each side instead of doing both positives and then the negatives. No I am not getting power to anything. No lights no sounds nothing.
I have pos to pos and neg to neg and I'm also getting no power
Which battery is the starter battery?
Good question. Both are used when starting the truck
@@jimthecarguy why can't you just change one at a time?
you can change one at a time. just have the replacement ready to drop in and hook up and you won't dirupt the computer of have to reset your clock. This guy can't even spell dual correctly which means 2 not to fight as in a duel with dueling pistols! duh
Can not hear on the video.
*dual
Will this mess up my edge tuner
Are these Aaron Burr brand duel batteries?
Dual. DUAL! Two. Dual.
it's really not that hard.
Oh yeah and.... Batteries.
If you need to watch this video to change your batteries, you have no business working on a truck.
Gotta learn some how!
Ridiculous
Absurd comment.
Pretty dumb comment lol
Way to help people out bro get a life everyone starts somewhere
