I will say that as a new player casual seems to be full of players that for better or worse- are very enthusiastic about the game. Tf2 from what i gather is a game that has such a huge community of people that i dont think it will die anytime soon, especially with how i have only seen 2-3 bots in my 2 weeks of gaming. Overall im enthusiastic And your work on this video is really great! Truly the passion is palpable.
I really cant understand some people. Like, they just play the same game, with the same playstyle for hundreds of hours and then they complain that it is boring ? Like I udnerstand they want to play thier favourite game but, like with everything, if consumed too much of, it gets redundant. Just play another game
That line you said cut deep: "The decision to quit came suddenly... or maybe not. Maybe I'd planned it all along, subconsciously waiting for the right moment." Couldn't have said it better myself regarding my own departure. This is why I play source mods like Team Fortress 2 Classic and Pre-Fortress 2. TF2C is properly taken care of, loyal to what TF2 IS rather than what people thought it SHOULD be, and PF2 is the best parts of TF2 and Team Fortress Classic combined. No unlocks, added grenades, and pure skill. At least the source mods keep the spirit and integrity of a TF2-esque world alive. But TF2 itself doesn't hit right anymore... 'specially as the trendy and irrational hate for Sniper continues.
Personally, chief, I don't think that even PF2 or TF2C capture the magic of TF2. They try, Lord knows that they try, but there's something lacking from the Mods, something that was in TF2's soul for a time.
I really cant understand some people. Like, they just play the same game, with the same playstyle for hundreds of hours and then they complain that it is boring ? But after enough time you realise that the fries taste like shit. Of course they have flaws, just like everything but if you havent been eating fucking fries everyday for the past 7 years, you would still enjoy them. Dont do that to yourself, eat some rice.
I've only played TF2 post jungle inferno. I love the game, but I can't help but wish I was there to see it before it collapsed. I can't call the game dead, but it has always felt like it was on a life support at best. A husk kept alive from everyone who still wanted something out of it. TF2 really does have a special kind of charm buried under the dust that I struggle to find in other places. I want to still be able to appreciate the masterpiece this game once was and the art it continues to inspire. I'm just another person trying to keep the husk alive because I still want something out of it.

@@leoleonid5400 Bots have become such a rarity that leaving a server with a bot and finding a new one is more than enough of a bandaid for such a miniscule annoyance. Hell even that is considered the nuclear option, just kick them if they're in your team or if they're in the enemy team then they'd probably have enough braincells to kick them too. Bot hosters nowadays can't survive without dropping a whole treasure trove of time and money to host just a handful of bots at least those of the "actually playing in servers" variety.
@@weaboo8141 If a bandaid is required, it means there is a problem. In this case, the problem is the poor balancing of Sniper. Triple damage for nothing is unbalanced. If 150 damage quickscopes were not a thing, the Bot Crisis wouldn't happen. I think that crits on headshot should be replaced with another bonus that doesn't directly deals more *damage.* For instance. On Full charge: Headshot kills restore charge to 100%. Or headshots apply jarate for 5+ seconds. Something like that. Anything but instant death, Spy is a support class that's already occupying that role.
@@leoleonid5400 Sniper doesn't need to be reworked. Valve needs to either shut TF2 down or put more work into their games, neither of which they're keen to do.
Bots are still around too, that's the issue. Valve did nothing to actually stop them. They're on a smaller scale now, but give it enough time and we'll be right back to square one. This game's been dead for years and only now, after a four year period of neglect followed by a band-aid fix are people waking up to the reality that Valve don't care and that we should move on. I have. TF2's lost its passion, its spark. The only reason I even keep it in my library these days, other than for nostalgia and the Sunk Cost Fallacy, is for Garry's Mod and nothing more. TF2 has bit the dust, and those that stay are too young, stupid, or gullible to admit that it has.
Except, bots are significantly less of an issue now, even though some are still around. I have been playing the entirety of Casual the last 5 months ever since they were removed, and to this day I have only seen ONE bot in all my playtime. And judging by the fact that they're not coming back out with a new hook, it's evident that Valve has really made things difficult for them to come back, and continues to make things difficult for them. The game isn't "dead". It still has a very active playerbase, an active community, both of which are pretty passionate for it as well. A "dead" game wouldn't have that. Many people have already realized that Valve doesn't prioritize the game anymore, that realization was already made by many in 2020, which was a whole 3 years past the last major major update that Valve pushed out (Jungle Inferno). So it wasn't all too surprising that Valve basically did nothing to combat the crisis when it was coming in full swing. In fact, to this day I'm surprised they actually finally DID do something about it. They didn't have any incentive too, because despite the fact that Casual became virtually unplayable, the game was STILL played by many over the course of 4 whole years. I won't deny that the neglect from Valve sucks, and I can see why that has caused many people such as yourself to have this viewpoint about the game, but I still think that it is wrong that just because Valve neglects the game, it is somehow "dead" as a result. The community is still thriving, even though official content from Valve no longer gets added. The passion is still there, and so is that spark. It has remained unchanged because nothing about the game has been added or removed. Maybe the passion that YOU had for it has faded, and that happens from time to time. People eventually lose interest in things they previously enjoyed, and move on to different things. But just because something is no longer appetizing to you, does not mean it isn't appetizing for someone else. I understand that spark for you may have burnt out, it burnt out for me for a time as well before the crisis even started (I took like a 3 year break from 2015-2018). But that spark reignited for me, because to me, Team Fortress 2 is the only game that continues to scratch that itch that no other game ever manages to do. Overwatch was the only game that ever came close to providing me a similar experience that Tf2 has given me, but it never really gave that full satisfaction.
i regret watching this video, its like 6 mins of filler, then its nostalgiabaiting and nothingburger issues rehashing the nonexistant drama style funke video before coping abt the bot crisis. u could have just made a youtube status saying 'hey guys im moving on from tf2' but in stead u decided to try to drama bait
It's not really Doomer Baiting though, is it? Man even goes as far as to state that he continued playing after the Bots were "gone" up until the Halloween update, but felt that the game wasn't the same anymore. Which I can't disagree with myself. TF2 is in the worst state of its life and it's only going to get worse. It'll be something Valve uses to milk money out of suckers and slop farms like Zesty. Nothing more, nothing less. TF2's sense of community is gone. Instead, it's a bunch of bickering fiefdoms, fighting over the scraps of a once great empire.
