They had to get back home because Josh's wife was in her last few weeks of pregnancy with their first child. They won't be traveling here for a while as a result of her arrival. Mr. H and Friends bought a Franklin smoker from Texas and have done some serious research about US food and BBQ and have been cooking up a storm. You should check them out.
@@AliKaiProject ya know, I think it's a pretty safe bet that the southern accent is the favorite American accent among you Brits 😂. Every Brit that I've seen listen to a southern accents gets a big smile on their face and say they love it. 😉
Hi guys, there isn’t cowboys in NC. Cookout is headquartered in NC. Coleslaw is on top of the pork. By the way, I live in Raleigh where Sam’s Jones BBQ is located.
I believe that's coleslaw on top of the meat in the sandwich. That's normal for southern bbq sandwiches. Btw Cheerwine is a soda created (and mainly sold) in the Carolinas (North and South).
This last week on the Beesleys, James' mum made pot roast. She commented several times that the butcher knew what meat she needed. Not a meat most Brits want.
I agree that exporting BBQ would be very difficult since it is highly dependent upon specific ingredients, including the wood used to smoke it. Everyone has their preferences for the wood because it imparts different flavors, and, of course, the way the animals are raised also impart a different flavor and texture. You could probably get close to the same flavors in other countries, but you would never exact it.
My mother is from Alabama. She alway made collard greens with vinegar. I hated it. She loves it. I'm guessing it's one of those things you grow up with and also have to like green vegatables too.
Nah it won't make chicken dry. Chicken will dry out if you cook it higher heat quickly. When you cook it slow for a long time it retains the moistness. You're not on super high heat and the smoke is just penetrating the meat. Phenomenal.
There really aren´t many things better then a spicy BBQ pulled pork, topped with sweet coleslaw and on a brioche bun. I make them for my family and always have to make WAY more then needed as they all want to take the fixin´s home for the next day.
There's nothin better than a good banana pudding or a rice pudding for that matter. Oh sure some pie might be better but for goodness these two puddings are glorious.
Cowboys are western, not southern. Beef is a western/southwestern thing, the south is all about pork. Texas is the southwest, North Carolina is the south. Pulled pork is hand pulled, traditional NC barbecue is chopped not pulled.
Yes, banana pudding is a southern thing, but so damn good, everyone does it now! The Carolinas are East Coast, not really Cowboys. ALL THE ACCENT, NONE OF THE SADDLE TIME...put it that way. Doesn't diminish their "southern-ness" at all, but not the "working cowboy" sector of the country. That doesn't start till you get to Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Wyoming, Dakotas, etc...
NC born and bred. We are super practical and no no nonsense. We are southern to our soul but we are the most progressive state in the south. We are the most educated state in the nation. We have 16 UNC's. We talk slowly but we aren't slow.
Remember that it can take 12 plus hours to cook BBQ, so during busy tourist season some will run out. These places are known all over the world due to the internet. So, yes some will run out. At least you know you won't be getting leftovers.
When we make it over, I'd love to try one of these top BBQ restaurants even if there's a bit wait. It seems like they're a big part of the South and quickly becoming part of the bucket list.
If you ever find a restaurant that is so popular that they run out of food to sell every day, its probably worth seeing what the fuss is all about lol.

Wrong part of the country to think about cowboys and the wild west 😂
Oops...it was the voice though :)

Vinegar and vinegary foods help cut through some of the fat in BBQ and soul food.
I think that's coleslaw on Josh's sandwich. Yeah it is. I checked their menu online.
He knows about Cookout because he lives in North Carolina and Cookout's headquartered in North Carolina.
And it’s where Jolly ate the night before.
And 1 hour later you come out with what we call "' A MEAT COMA!'..

Still learning but trying, thank you for the explanation. We struggle to navigate our way through the accents ..and geography! :)
Jolly does have some olde' but goodies. Check it out, they are hilarious 😂 Love From Michigan and it's a beautiful evening ❤❤
Go Meet Mr. H. He's got an American Smoker and he's been learning. Doing a good job from the looks of things.
I'm not sure they'd appreciate two randoms turning up at their door begging for some food though! :)
@@AliKaiProjectjust tell them the Americans referred y'all 😂

Don’t think that was applesauce on the sammy, more likely pimento cheese or maybe something like cole slaw

Agreed!
We couldn’t bring a smoker and over there and get the same results, especially with beef. We would have to bring the animals and wood as well.
Sounds like we'll need a bigger boat! ;)
Love your top Alice!
I still have laugh a bit when I hear a British guy use the term "lovely". That is usually not part of the American/Canadian male vernacular.
It's part of my daily life... :)
NC native. There are no cowboys here. We are in the South. Think of antebellum mansions.
There is a BBQ place in Bristol that Mr H and family has gone to.
Really? 😢
@@AliKaiProject It’s called Spitfire. The H family really enjoyed it.
Guys, Southern doesn't always mean Cowboys. That's Texas and out west. Deep South Southerners aren't Cowboys.
It was mayonnaise slaw on the sandwiches. We have barbecue slaw which is red and mayonnaise slaw.
