Imagine being assigned the most insane, most dangerous, most probably to fail missions anywhere on Earth, at any time, in the most harsh and dangerous conditions, impossible odds, with only a handful of others... if those exiting Navy SEALS do not absolutely trust you without a single doubt or reservation, you're still not good enough, no matter how well you did in training. You made it through training, you're the best... but you're still not good enough to be the best of the best. The SEALS are insane. Not because they are actually crazy (though yeah, kinda), but because of just how good they are, and the 110% complete trust they have in each other. It makes them a small unit that can act like a single being, knowing what others will do, trusting their commander so completely they just do, they don't think. And yet, the commander trusts each one of them enough to know that they may have a better idea or view of a part of the battle than they do, to make snap decisions as needed. That is a level of trust that very few humans can say they have or have ever experienced even. A small group of SEALS is worth a legion of regular soldiers.

I haven't read through the comments, but I'm assuming with the few comments made throughout the vid of "there are a lot of Navy Seals" or similar, I feel like is being confused with just the regular Navy. There are over 336,000 active duty personnel in the US Navy with over 101,000 in the US Navy Reserve. Out of over 437,000 as of last years' stats, only about 3100 are Navy Seals, both active and reserve. There is very little to compare between a person in the US Navy and the US Navy Seals.

The thing many reactors don't quite get is that hell week isn't the final exam... it's the entrance exam. IF you survive (literally) hell week, you get the opportunity to ACTUALLY train as a navy seal. And you are likely to not make it through that as well. The drop out and get out rate for Navy SEALS is BRUTAL. But that's a good thing. I love the line about how they have to give you 4 hours of sleep only because they haven't figure out how to put you through hell week on zero hours, but don't worry, they're working on that.

Green Beret and Army Ranger training is also incomprehensibly brutal and difficult, but in different ways. Their training difficulty isn't based in enduring as much gratuitous physical torture, but in remaining alert at all times, and following complex instructions previously given to you to complete the commands correctly while you're starving, exhausted, and lost in the woods. Physical training for Green Berets and Rangers is about equal to SEALs, but their instructors are looking for candidates who are the most competent instead of the most determined. Special forces training in the US Army is rooted in perfection, not resilience. Green Beret training in particular is all about individual resourcefulness whereas SEAL & Ranger instructors stress teamwork. The Green Berets want you to be an "army of one" in so many words.

Firstly, I want to make something clear. I am not now nor ever have been a Seal. But, I have known a few. They're wonderful men. They deserve our respect and admiration. That's all I'll say about that.
In order to be a U.S. Navy Seal, you must be an American Citizen. Foreign countries do send some of their service members through Seal Bud/S training. Even if they pass they would go home and use their training in their Spec Ops groups. They cannot become a Seal because the U.S. would never give them a Top Secret Security Clearance which is required. You must be a citizen to qualify for that. Remember what being a Seal represents. It's not so much the title or Trident, although that is nice, but it's about the whole way of life. You will push yourself to extreme limits, day in and day out. Desire to be put in and out of combat situations, then try to have a normal family life on your down time. It appears to me to be a brutal way to make a living. To pursue this work, you really must have a hole in your soul that needs to be filled or a hunger that needs to be sated.

Not only is there attrition from those who ring the bell, but many are removed from training due to injury. There are many who are mentally willing to keep going, but their bodies fail them and the instructors have to make the call for their safety.(Once healed they can re-apply.)
Most of military training, BUD/S included, is mental. Boot camp, aircrew, SERE...the challenges got progressively tougher, it's just a matter of recognizing that your body can do a LOT more than your mind believes it can. Ignore the pain, ignore the discomfort, and most difficult of all ignore the survival instinct, and the body can (usually) endure.

Delta Force is probably the most elite Special Force. You NEVER hear about Delta... and they keep it that way. Then SEAL's and PJ's... Green Berets, Rangers, MARSOC, etc. The elite SEAL team is called Development Group (DevGru) also known as SEAL Team 6. PJ's are Pararescue Jumpers (Air Force and Coast Guard) and SEAL's go to their training. SEAL's think THEY are crazy! PJ's are usually assigned to a SEAL team. A PJ was awarded the Medal of Honor for fighting off combatants to save his SEAL team members. Around the world the SAS in Britain are comparable to Delta Force. Regarding regular units, all Special Forces LOVE the Marines and pilots (Air Force, Navy, Marines, and Army). ALL of the Special Force units are exceptional warriors. Hats off to all of them.

Infographic show doesn’t do a good job at explaining buds or Seals at all and neither do these comments, don’t recommend that channel for that specific subject.
“Hell week” is typically the 3rd or 4th week in buds, sometimes it might change from class to class, but always been those 2 far as I know.
You do eat at least 3 meals a day during hell week, it’s mandatory. Typically a class would eat 5-6 during hell week. This whole not eating thing is completely wrong.
I believe it’s buds class 234(2000) documentary of buds. I recommend that if u want to know what actual buds or well week is, watch that.
Lot of small details that are wrong. Too many to name so I won’t even bother.

Hi guys this video I’m linking here for you isn’t of SEALS, the SEALS go a lot further with their training etc but this is a video of the NAVY SWCC operators training. Quote “We just jump out of aircraft, assemble boats, and drive the SEAL (or Delta, or any other warrior) to their location, and pick them up.” When you see in the movies the boats coming in Hot to pick up the seals they many times have to battle to cover for them so they’re no Schulbs but you’ll see a lot of what this video your watching is saying you’ll see here. Quote from a SWCC “We do CQT and BCT, but the SEALS go a lot further. They go to BUD/S after. We SWCCs have mission-critical training in boat ops, assembly, operational systems of said boats, everything from engine repair to the weapon systems that we have on the boats. Engineers / Warfighters. We train more in aerial delivery (Skydiving or low-egress) than the SEALs do.” Again these guys are not the same thing . If you watch the movie Act of Valor when the SEALS are fighting for their life trying to escape rescuing the hostage you’ll see SWCC boats show up to pick them up and basically save their hides. So they’re very important just don’t actually go in so they don’t need the same type of training. Just thought you’d at keast appreciate seeing what this video is saying but in a much lighter scale. Also you should know that after making SEAL they still have just under 3 years of training before they are allowed out on their 1st mission as per a SEAL I watched interviewed. Here’s the video: ua-cam.com/video/jJ-H8Mpt04c/v-deo.htmlsi=uQ1xbRTXXFpnvcrw

My personal record as a USMC vet is 84 hours with zero sleep. It helps I’m an insomniac, always have been, I sleep 4-6 hours a night. Have my whole life and have trouble going to sleep. Staying awake is easy for me. But yeah, my whole life I’ve dealt with sleep deprivation and hallucinations most of my life, and been through plenty, in civilian life, and military life. I could probably do it, I at least stand a good chance of being able to do it, I could pass hell week. Not saying I could pass overall. Only one problem, I’d have to joint the navy, no self respecting Marine would ever joint the navy, or any other branch. They do all the shit the Marines do, but to the absolute extreme, and involve the ocean. I’m no stranger to the cold Pacific Ocean, grew up on the coast in Oregon, we always loved seeing tourists come to swim I. The Pacific Ocean for the first time, the. See them scream and run out as fast as humanly possible, even in sunny San Diego, the Pacific Ocean is insanely cold, in the dead of summer. I lived hundreds and hundreds of miles north. At best it’d be high 30’s to low 50’s depending on the time of year. I grew up on the ocean, swimming in that and our cold ass rivers also.

Great video and great commentary, as usual. I want to add, and I know, on top of all that? lol What they don't tell you would 1000% be in the back of your mind the entire time if you went through that. And that is where they train, more specifically during hell week. Hell week is conducted on San Clemente Island, off the coast of San Diego. San Clemente Island is the breeding grounds of the Great White Shark. Now, I understand how sketchy that sounds by itself, but to make it more spicy lol most sharks typically show a fin or some level of aggression, maybe a nudge or so before they attack. Great White Sharks do not do that, and sharks don't do that off the West Coast. They hunt their prey from below and attack from underneath, usually without warning. I was told by a close friend that grew up on the coast in southern California in the 60-80's, when you're out surfing there, if you ever get an odd feeling like you're being watched or 'hunted' shall we say lol, you get out of the water asap. He said sometimes you just get a feeling, and if that feeling comes, it's time to go home. I've never experienced that and I've swam entire channels on the east coast that are known for shark activity, but I will never forget that advice. But anyway lol, supposedly, there has no deaths from a shark during hell week, but I would highly doubt that as fact being how that's basically playing in the woods around mama bear's cubs in the woods. Plus you're jumping, screaming, crying, singing in the water during 'dinner time' lmfao

Seal's were Originally known as Frog's first released into WW1 the Frogmen are still the to this day the Deadliest Soldiers on the Battlefield. Not saying Seal's aren't tough but Frog's have done more crazier thing's than Seal's have ever done ever! Today's Seal training isn't that much different from Coast Guard training as US Coast Guards spend 97% of their time training in Freezing cold water unlike Seal's that will do more land combat than Coast Guard.

It's legitimately amazing the amount of pure punishment the human body and mind can take when pushed. You can train your brain to compartmentalize things, just pack it away so it is out of your conscious mind. That's one thing they're looking for... people who can literally just shove the pain/anxiety/fear/etc aside and focus on the task. Or physical punishment... it's not about raw strength. It's about long term repeated conditioning. They aren't looking for muscle that can lift a ton over a short time, but muscle that can lift over long term, entirely different training. They want people who can push hard for the short term but also endure hard over hours. And hell week is designed specifically to be more brutal than things they are likely to encounter in actual combat. Makes it so when they get out in the field on real missions, they are over-prepared for whatever it throws at them. It's nothing like hell week. I made it through that, I can make it through this. The US military appears completely insane during training, but they have over a century of experience and honing the training to perfection. Get any notions of how good you are out of your head, shock the crap out of you with REAL pain and difficulty, and then actually build you up, build your confidence, build your skill, teach you with actual genuine interest and care that you be as good as you can be. The instructors, after breaking you, legitimately want you to succeed. They won't give you breaks, but they actually care and you can tell. It's a brilliant system to get the egos out and then teach real skill ands trength.

that was just the first week of seal training. then after that there is 30 months of training to be a seal. at the end of the 30 months you then need to be selected as a seal. you may not get picked. But all of this is to be a seal. The regular navy sailors are not seals. first you would join the navy and go through regular basic training. then you are in the navy as a sailor. later you can decide you want to train for the navy seals. that is a choice for all navy sailors but not all sailors want to be a seal. a navy seal is kind of like an army green Baret. not all army soldiers become green Baret, only a small few do.

Earlier this year, two Navy Seals died during a mission to board a ship that was allegedly carrying Iranian weapons to Yemen. There are conflicting stories but both Seals are believed to have drowned in the sea. Yesterday, the US and UK fired a barrage of missiles into Yemen killing an estimated two dozen people. Yemen continues to target ships it believes are headed for Israel saying that they will stop when the g-cide ends. Real news is more interesting, important and complex than cartoon videos.

I was a Navy Brat when I was a kid. My dad was in the Navy, I was born on a Marine Corps Air Base. The Navy and the Marines are related. There are Marines who are Navy Seals. But anyway, when my sister and I were about 10 and 12 our dad had a friend that was a Seal. We used to play with their kids. Us kids never knew that he was a Seal, not even his own kids knew. They dont tell the kids 'oh, your dad is going to jump out of a perfectly good plane, in enemy territory to rescue hostages tonight.' And, to look at the guy, you would never have guessed he was a trained government agent. He looked like a youth group pastor at church. LOL but true.

I was in the U.S. Army I was an 11B (infantry) and we used to train a lot and shoot a lot, training was hard at times, nothing like "Hell Week." I remember one time we did a 27 hour movement to contact training where we walked around in the forest for 27 hours with no sleep. Obviously after 20 hours of being awake people would try to sneak a few minutes of sleep whenever we stopped to check our maps. It was rough, but still it wasn't Hell Week.

Through years of experience, the Navy knows what works and what doesn't. Going from regular seaman to Seal status is a great honor and a great responsibility. Imagine getting the missions that nobody else is willing to do. That's a responsibility.

I was living in my old hometown when I was in my mid twenties and I had a good friend who was a seal. He was one of the nicest people I’ve ever known and one day we decided to take a drive to the city I had recently moved back from which was only about 45 minutes to where he did his seal training so we took the opportunity to go to the base so he could see his old commanders again. It just happened that they were putting the most recent candidates through a “mini, trial” hell week and his old commander asked if he wanted to do a couple drills or something and of course my friend jumped at the chance! I saw a whole other side of him that I’d never seen before!

Yes, the Seals are beasts. But, don’t forget the even more elite, rarely discussed, and barely admitted to exist…Delta Force. It is comprised of Seals, Rangers, Green Berets basically any member of any branch’s SOCOM unit. As long as they have like five years of service, multiple tours, at least 2.5 years left of active service, among other requirements. They go and do in places we don’t always admit we are involved in. They are the ones that are in country way before anyone else, handling, uh, well things that need to be handled. It wasn’t until recently that the government even admitted they exist. They are not allowed to speak on anything related to what they do, where they go, where they’ve been, what they’ve done in the past, how they train or the weapons or methods they use. Literally the elite of the best of the best, from the best military the world has ever known.

A tip for opening most packages safely, simply use the edge of a key. It's edge is more than sharp enough to cut through the packing tape yet not sharp enough to cut you or anything in the box.
