About the corndog at 4:03, Kai I understand what you mean but just to let you in on something you may be missing out on, many people here in the states put either mustard or ketchup or both mustard and ketchup over their corndogs, therefore the stick acts like a handle to help us enjoy our mustard/ketchup covered corn dog; we would not pull the stick off after covering it with mustard/ketchup, it is just like Alice said for the full corndog eating experience, now if you wish to eat your corndog dry, well then by all means go for it, pull out the stick and enjoy, just make sure you have napkins on hand for afterwards. I promise I won't judge you for enjoying the way you want to, it's fine by me. That pork or tuna one, hmm, I don't know about that one, too bad they continued that on the members only content portion, I would have loved to see that one. The dogs are not related other than having a common ingredient, corn. Very different stories behind them. And, I think you need the stick in a corn dog to be able to dip it in batter.

Cookout is mainly in the Carolina's and Georgia, if I remember correctly. It's definitely just a regional thing. It's not the best fast food out there, but for the price, its not bad. I always got a grilled chicken sandwich with hush puppies and fries. The hushpuppies are really good. They're just balls of cornmeal batter thats deep fried. In-N-Out is a fast food chain on the West Coast and have restaurants all the way out to Texas.
In & Out is one of the top fast food places in the US. I don't personally think it is that great but many do. Cook Out is based somewhere on the East Coast & I have never had it. But I have heard some swear it is great too.
Yes, hot dogs are sausages, but they are very different in the US. A hot dog is not a sausage in the US, but just a hot dog. Sausages here are very thick and round. That's why they are different.
I'm an In-n-Out fan and my review: Hamburgers are great; chips (aka french fries) are average at best. For beverages they have Coca-cola's line of products and then chocolate, strawberry and vanilla milk shakes which are good. And that's it, as far as I remember. Very limited menu. They do have lots of "off-menu" combinations you can ask for. That's sort of In-n-Out's charm. So saying Cookout is a billion times better, that lady must have never had In-n-Out because basically In-n-Out and Cookout are two very different places. Barely comparable. Admittedly I've never had Cookout but, from Josh, Ollie, Wicker and Joel's experience I wouldn't go there if I were near one. Looks nasty except for the shakes.
The difference between a burger and a sandwich is a burger is made with minced or ground meat. The meat could be beef, chicken, or pork. Minced meat shaped into a patty is a burger so yes you can have a chicken burger! A chicken sandwich is made with a whole piece of chicken.
That dump isn't number one in the south of that city, much less the south of the U.S.. That's OK, if it was in the Carolinas, it's prob not there any more!.....too soon?

@@georgemetz7277 Yeah, that probably helps! Being exposed to other foods, beyond the bland stuff they're used to, so flavor isn't such a shock to him! Also, there are times I don't understand the reactions, like thinking biscuits and gravy looks disgusting, yet they think beans on toast is wonderful??? I like trying new foods and I go in with hopes it'll be good, not starting off with "that looks horrible" or "I bet it tastes bad". Attitude does effect how we taste things!
Adding on to the commenters who are describing the ingredients or the makeup of a hush puppy, a little history to that is they were used by slaves when they were trying to escape plantations throwing them on the ground in different areas in different directions to throw off the hunting dogs that were used to track the slaves to capture them. Hence the name "hush puppy". Also there is no relation of a corn dog to the hush puppy items. The fact that this establishment uses the hush puppy ingredients for the corn dog is not traditional. I'm from Maryland and a lot of areas north uses a better similar to pancake batter or in some cases cornbread and not cornmeal which cornbread is close to a cupcake versus cornmeal which is gritty like grits which is cracked corn

I liked that it was NOT their favorite fast food, but they made it fun anyway.
When James Beesley's mum made corn dogs, she did not put them on a stick. You are meant to push them up to the top of the stick.
Plus, she used corn starch (corn flour in the UK) instead of corn meal.

been eating fast food in the south for almost 50yrs. CookOut is a 4 outta 10 on a good day.

It's the prices of the food is the thing. It's decent food for the price and that's what people like about it, it's a pretty cheap eat.
