  • 長い間放置状態であったヒノキの板材を使って先日作った作業台専用の鉋かけ台を作りました。
    I made a planing board for the workbench which was made the other day using the plate of Japanese cypress that was left for a long time.

    When you plane the outer dull layer off of a board, its true beauty presents its self. Black walnut can even look very lite in color until you apply a simple oil finish. I love this video and I have saved it to my favorites! I love your country. It makes the best power tools and especially in hand wood working tools. It has also produced some of the best craftsman in the world in metal and woodworking. There is one man, Yusuke Tazawa, I love his work and the way he uses both machinery and hand techniques for finishing a piece. He creates simple things like his coffee scoops. They are so delicate and beautiful. Some day I would love to go to Yokohama to visit his studio and maybe pick up a few of his techniques.

    Nice unit. I use western planes so I push rather than pull. I plane with the board flat on my bench up against a sliding wooden stop. Works great. I think the same idea could work with a pull type plane. Plus I don’t have another jig to hang up somewhere. This builder is certainly very skilled.

    The craftsmanship is first class. But I really think the simplicity of the design/engineering is the real outstanding element of this build.

      I keep track of my tools. Screwdrivers are common. If you don’t like something fine. But it does not make you a man to piss on others!

    that was a good video and showed a great deal of skill. But I can't help thinking that things would be a lot simpler if you just had a workbench with dog holes in.

    削り臺板の裏に直角に角材を接着すれば、この削り臺を作った時より乾燥すれば板はむくり、高濕度になれば凹む
    正確な仕事をする場合は吸い付き棧にするのが普通と思います

    The only thing missing is a dedicated storage space for the screwdriver, otherwise it is perfect

    does the 1st plane at the beginning have a curve blade like a scrub plane?

    • @fareastwood
      @fareastwood  2 роки тому +1

      It's not a scrub plane. It's a normal plane.

      It's a Japanese cypress "Hinoki".

    That's the most complicated, yet not useful planing board I have ever seen. Especially after seeing how you start clamping shit anyway. Just have a simple planing board that's crafted in 10 minutes. Nice craftmanship though.

    Spring loaded dogs are so much more practical .Misplace your screwdriver and game over till you find another . cring loaded dogs are tool less. I don't mean tobe so hard on you but there is a LOT of wasted time piddling around with all these fiddly screw threaded parts.
