Hadn't done my front brakes in almost 20 years! Replaced them with your guidance , went very quickly! Original pads were Project Mu, which only saw about 5k miles (heavy road racing/canyons) from '06 to '10)@@WrenchMine
ae85s never was sold in the US, all usdm 86s have "AE86" stamped on the firewall, for sr5s ae86 is stamped on the firewall and is on the vin number, for the gts ae86 is stamped on the firewall and ae88 is on the vin but does not mean it is not an ae86, it is an 86, hope this cleared it up
How much did you pay for it? Im looking at one that’s pretty rough. It doesn’t run and there is quite a bit of rust. He wants $3k and will not budge on price. Should i keep looking?
Can't say. If it's worth it to you and you have the time and talent (and a boat load of cash) to get it back to where you want it to be then go for it. Crunchy-Rolla is a labor of love so we would have paid a lot more than we did to get her. So we can say we got a deal, some others won't see it that way.
@@WrenchMine yeah I figured it would be very costly to fix. Just finished restoring a miata but im 17 so probably can’t afford to restore a corolla due to its popularity.
@@JohnCarlo76 I ending up buying one from the same guy. Black gts hatch. Spent 4k but im completely rebuilding it, it’s rough lol. You can find it on my other channel. Mechanical Mayhem. ua-cam.com/channels/t6w--C1xHI7uPomqUDWBkQ.html
This look just like my car . The way the exhaust hung is the same way too lol

Lovely USDM AE85 Man

Thanks!
Just to clarify something for you noobs, the SR5 is still an ae86!
Here come the arguments!
It is effectively an 86. it has the same chassis, same drivetrain layout, same interior, so in my opinion it can be called an ae86.
It is an ae86!!
Strange looking rear windows
The rear windows aren't the only strange thing about mid 80's Japanese cars.
I found a shell for $1500 is that worth it
If you are happy with it that is all that matters! Good luck with your project!

And honestly, 3K is going to look small when you compare it to all the money your are going to spend getting the car back into shape.
