  • Our cars are coming up on 40 years old. It's time for replacement of some of the suspension parts. Here is a video on how we did our front control arms on Project Crunchy-Rolla. While this is specifically for our cars, a lot of other cars use the same type of control arms and the process should be about the same. We know that the '85 Celica GTS is exactly the same process as they use the same control arm.

    You can tell that the control arm needed some love. It was a bit rusty, the bush was perished but the balljoint on this side was serviceable. But if you are going to take the arm apart you might as well do the ball joint, cheap insurance.

      Harbor Freight but ($80ish) don't buy it unless you do a lot of ball joints and bushings and you don't have access to a hydraulic press. You can rent/borrow a kit from the local auto parts store.
