- I headed to the Shimano Service Centre near Milton Keynes to build up this, quite frankly awesome Argon 18 Grey Matter with some glorious parts from Enve and a GRX 820 groupset, the 12 speed GRX which was released last year.

Hi Chris, these Argon bikes look fantastic! I recently had a mishap with my road bike and am in the market for a new bike. Thinking I might as well get a bike that can handle gravel riding and events because they look like a ton of fun, as well as being my road bike. I am curious, for gnarly gravel races, would you recommend GRX820 or DI2 GRX? Thinking I’ll stick with a 2x drivetrain since it’s multi purpose. Leaning towards the updated Cervelo Aspero, but open to options. Thank you for your advice!
If you’re going 2x then definitely look at di2 as an option, especially as you want to use it as a road bike as well. 820 1x in this setup is amazing for getting you up pretty much anything. You can have one bike to do everything but it will have some limitations at certain points. For proper rough stuff a 1x groupset will give you better easy gears but might not have a big enough gear on the road. Depends on what your preference is. If it’s more road I’d look at something like the krypton as price wise they’re very good, has frame storage and also can take tyres up to 40mm. If you’re more off road focused check out the dark matter as an adventure rig.

They seem incredibly bomb proof and ride fantastic. I used them at dirty reiver. Nice and wide internal so good for big tires
Will be interested to hear your thoughts on how it rides compared to the Dark Matter. Have tried couple of one by bikes never really got on with them, that or I needed longer to get used to it.
The new 12 speed GRX is exceptional. Really impressed with it on the rides I’ve done.
not sure why Enve sells a gravel specific post without provisions for activating with a road shifter

I used it at dirty reiver. Genuinely really impressed, I’ve not ridden an alloy bike in a long time and it rides fantastic. I’ll be doing a proper review video soon
I have this stock bike. what is this one regarding components and what for? I find I need a lower gear for off road climbing but this thing screams on the road faster than my old tri felt ar4 carbon bike in tri position. Its so smoothe I'm turning into my tri backpacker and half im bike. I also need the paint code for some scratches but no one seems to know how to get at the toppest levels.
It's a fantastic bike isn't it? I have done a gravel race on it but will be mainly using it as my go to all the time rider especially when in the winter here in the UK
