Toyota GR Yaris Rally1 'SHOW Mode' Activated! Burnouts, Jumps, Turbo Anti-Lag & Sound

- This year I finally managed to have my first glimpse of the current Group Rally1 (or simply 'Rally1') machines, developed to replaced the outgoing WRCs. These new cars have two radical new features for the World Rally Championship: the first is the introduction of a hybrid electric power system, linked to the existing 1.6-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine in use on the previous WRC Plus cars.
The second is related to their origin. In fact Rally1 machines have no series production car requirement. They still have to be identifiable as being based on a series production model but tubular space frame structures are permitted allowing for scaling of production models.
Rally1 cars have also a less complex suspension setup with reduced travel, a reduction from 6 to 5 speed gearboxes, in common with Rally2 cars including the removal of 'flappy-paddle' gear shifters, removal of some aerodynamic components and the removal of the active central differential altogether.
In this video you can watch how modern Rally1s behave outside of competitions, driven in total freedom and only focusing on entertain the crowd! Here's a couple of Toyota GR Yaris Rally1 (a 2022 and a current 2023 Evo) in action at this year's Goodwood Festival of Speed and at San Marino's Rally Legend!

The ability of the drivers to demonstrate the full performance of the WRC cars is commendable! 👏👏👏
Sebastian Ogier ever done this with the Yaris GR Rally Car in 2020.
@@purwantiallan5089Thanks for the reply. I didn't know it was driven by Sebastien Ogier, so I watched it again 😄.
These cars sound mad off throttle 🔥
Rally cars have some of the the best launches and anti lag sounds for sure ✅️
Almost heading towards the old F1 blown diffuser levels of angry......
When they go off throttle someone quickly swaps in a V8
@@alistairwhite2906 Wish F1 had something of the like.........
I think they burn more fuel off throttle than WOT !
When I was a kid, I loved asphalt rally because of the lowered suspensions and low profile tires; nowadays I really love those high suspensions that show the weight transfer as they drive these cars on the limit.
Absolutely agree. See so many lowered cars and they just seem 'meh' these days. It's one of the reasons I put a 2" lift in my 04 Subaru Forester XT. With 200kw at the wheels, front/rear motorsport LSD's, 20KG rally centre diff and 13:1 spec C quick steering rack, it's an absolute blast to drive on tarmac and gravel. Use the body roll to setup it up for the corners and just slide through them.
@@alistairwhite2906 lively stuff
To be fair, when they are actually racing the WRC cars on tarmac stages, they are not setup like this, haha. They are hunkered down on stiff springs and low profile tires like any racecar would be. They probably demonstrated the car jacked up like this because it's a lot more unique and entertaining. I agree it's really cool to easily see the weight transfer and how the drivers apply it.
@@Friendroid somewhere between lively and fkn scary.....! If you know the car, it's amazingly fun to chuck around. But I'd hate to throw someone who doesn't know it in the drivers seat, it would likely catch them out very quickly.
@@krudmuphinstudioz Yes, this is a full gravel setup: soft suspensions and long travel, and fat tyres. But on tarmac, it depends on the stage: sometimes they go soft as well, specially the new Rally1 cars. I guess the simplified differentials lead them to play with the suspensions to get the car to steer and rotate through the corners.
This Rally 1 cars anti lag is insane!
WRC 2 2024 cars also.
2:20 Man what de rassole.
The burnout sound of the Yaris GR Rally1 Hybrid car is simply EPIC!
Best anti-lag ever?
So fun to watch!
this is so crazy bro😍🔥
That sound! Wish we got a production version of this instead of the inline 3.
The toyota antilag is the coolest sound in rally since the dolphin blowoff sounds of the quattro. Damn!
It sounds like a Harley Davidson when you let go of the gas pedal
absolutely hectik af!
MAGNIFIQUE🔬🔥🎬💪🙏🌌
Fav car of all time... god it sounds good.
Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!
Yaris, I choose you!
Toyota love the car culture ❤
The only difference between 2022 and 2023 car is the side intake pods for the cooling of the hybrid system.
A10 Warthog noises intensify 😂
Jakebrake Sound nice
This guy needs to be delivering tofu
T O Y O T A 👍
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
If I'm not mistaken, the driver here is Elfyn, right? Elfyn Evans.
I'm not really sure for Goodwood clips but the drivers for RallyLegend clips are Jari-Matti Latvala and Lorenzo Bertelli (they're switching seats on some stages)
ラリーカーのサウンドは、最高ちゃん
Honda Civic Type R or Toyota Yaris GR?
which one is better?...
yaris all day
Why even ask that 😂
One is a road going rally toy/weapon and the other a hot hatch.... No comparison.
Don't forget that Honda is competing TCR with the Honda Civic Type R chassis. You right though, two different car in different race series. GR Yaris will murder the Type R in snow and gravel.@@alistairwhite2906
