      its great that Toyota have let them go in this direction, i used to work for them, and they really died in sports cars with the later Celica's/MR2's and no Supra. The LFA / ISF and 86 started a mini revival, but the Supra and then all the GR stuff is awesome. More of this please!!

    I love the GR Yaris, bummer it costs so much! I would easily trade my CTR FK2 for the newer one if I could!
    Also the driving skills of the pilot are mind blowing, the precision lap over lap is incredible. Of course, he's a professionel but still needs to be pointed out.

    I was going to buy a gen 2, then saw the price increase elsewhere in the world and bought a gen 1 rallye here in Australia. For the extra money, I'll get myself a set of MCA coilovers, a spare set of rims and r-specs and a ecutek tune and be happy with that. I also won't have to sit in front of that dash...

    Seems like Toyota are focussed on developing a driver's cars when it comes to the GR Yaris. Nice that they get to pour their heart and soul into something and get recognised for it too.

    For me the GRMN is really the one I'd lust for, it's the best looking but I still love that the MKI is a car developed with direct involvement of Tommi Makinen, literally rallying around Finland, which isn't the case for anything after the MKI.
    The original is also the homologation special, all the newer ones aren't as the body shell has been further modified (have a feeling the motorsport cars are based off the MKI)

      Yep me too. I bought it too in DAT but red. expecting bigger difference and better comments from driving too. Let’s see if it makes better result after small tune. the more power the better it should be vs manual.
      Still I am not sure if trully D is better choice or just stunt for that video. According to press info manual should be more punchy.

Big hike in price but I'm on the ballot for the Mk2 as a previous buyer (we're the only people toyota allow to now unles you put your name down before a certain time and didn't get one) fingers and toes crossed. I have decided to stick with my mk2 abd mod it, even thought the dealer trade in is relatively generous, the price hike to mk2 is too much. I’ve only done 11k miles in 3 years, as it is a third car. I have not been disappointed abd think Toyota did a superb job with this little car

    • @AbrahamArthemius
      @AbrahamArthemius Місяць тому

      To be fair, Toyota admitted they lost money with every pre-refresh version since there are a lot of new stuff coming from it like a completely new engine, new AWD system, and now a new Automatic transmission. They gotta recoup some money somehow hence the price hike (or should i say its true price).
      The original plan was to just sell 25,000 units minimum to fit WRC's homologation needs but the car's popularity just went through the roof with high demand and Toyota can't possibly ignore that.
      Pre-refresh owners are genuinely on a bargain of the century back then.

    I live in Turkey. Toyota is a very popular brand in Turkey. We love Japanese cars very much. Yaris GR has a large engine capacity of 1600cc. For this reason we need to pay a lot of extra taxes. The price goes up a lot. For this reason, the Toyota dealer cannot bring the GR Yaris. I have a request from Toyota engineers. The engine volume is maximum 1599cc. Kind regards.
