    1:39 USB-C to Ethernet, I'm listening, I'm listening. And now PoE over and PoE to USB adapter. OMG! I think you got quite a combo there. It's a lot in one package.

    I just came across the Core the other day and then found your review, FINALLY a Mevo I am interested in! The fact it can be used in the Mevo ecosystem or outside of it with HDMI, NDI and SRT is a HUGE deal. I am excited for this :)

    What I love about all these mevo videos this morning is seeing all these m43 lenses being mounted on a webcam. Panasonic Leica primes for web streaming, heck ya! I’ve been using my ancient GH5 mkI as a webcam which looks great but doesn’t have the Logitech app integration

    I got 3x used GX80 with (!) lenses plus 1x Blackmagic ATEM mini Pro ISO. All for the same money as 1x MEVO without lens. And I am happy.
    For the MEVO I would have wished inbuild LAN cable sockets with PoE to make neat wiring more easy.

    What a fantastic demo and review Aaron! I have been playing with 3 Zcam NDI box cams, and really frustrated with their "auto-focus." Otherwise excellent. I am going to sell them, and buy 3 Mevo Cores based solely upon your review. Will also buy a Lumix power zoom lens. I use vMix to livestream, but it would be wonderful not to have to use it. We just need a 3 shot, and screen cap, and looks like Mevo/Logi can handle that with a tablet. Audio might be a bit of a challenge for us, but perhaps we can fix that with a Dante or NDI Rodecaster-esque device.

      I agree, but the Mevo ecosystem has some nice perks. If I were looking for a quick and (relatively) easy setup for mobile streaming and recording, the Mevo would be a good option. I really hate that the batteries are internal though. The batteries are pretty standard, but no way to change them without opening it up.

      @frankfengzhu At the almost exact price point yes, I personally think it's a far more powerful and versatile camera, even as a standalone when rigged. This Logitech could have been a hit at 500-600 $. Just my two cents.

    I love the mevo start. Not the best cameras, but great for on the go live streaming. I have 6 of them. (lack of optical zoom is a severe limitation).
    Adding m4/3 lenses to the core is great for flexibility, but prices them out of my upgrade range.

    Great video. This is a neat option. I do have a couple questions.
    1. I would like to see how long the battery last on the mevo core?
    2. How would you go about setting up a multicam on the core when you dont have WiFi access at the site? Can it do direct to the iPad/phone, should you bring your own wireless router?

      999 for the camera plus another few hundred for a lens... It's a very pricey solution.

    • @portersblackboard
      @portersblackboard 10 місяців тому

      @@crooker2 Good point. I purchased 3 used Mirrorless cameras and an ATEM mini for less than the Mevo with a single lens. But, if I ever did go the Mevo route it would probably be with one Core as my main camera and 2 Mevo Starts as secondary cameras. Maybe I will dive in in a few years when they start hitting the used market or come down in price.

    • @crooker2
      @crooker2 10 місяців тому

      @@portersblackboard Yup. When it comes to these cameras, the NDI is the killer feature. Otherwise, you can probably get by with a number of cheaper panasonic M4/3 cameras. The Mevo Start cameras are much cheaper, and all inclusive. OF course, they have their downfalls (Probably get better cameras from older cellphones and the NDI/HX app). When it comes to M4/3... it's never as much the camera as it is the lens. You can spend MEGA bucks on a good lens. It adds up.

    Now, the BlackMagic Micro G2 is $ 4,00 cheaper (nearly nothing) but it's also a much better camera, that has way more possibilities to use it.

      Or your workflow is based on NDI. If I can reduce my need to have an ATEM for control that's one less device i've got to manage. Honestly non IP distribution and control SHOULD be cheaper. No one using Dante or NDI today is going to go back to the old way of doing things.

    Sounds interesting in principle - especially in relation to the MUlticamapp . However, I have read through the specification. Only 30FPS at 1080p? At a camera price of 999$? Really now? New in 2024, around 1000$? And then the cost of the lens? The multicam app would be perfect for entry level broadcast students as well. If only there were more MFT power zoom lenses on the market. Logitech is an international company so I do not understand why they only released it in US and Canada without any mention of availability elsewhere? Do they have supply issues? Do they expect lower demand in Europe, Asia, Africa, Australia? From my point of view, the Core had made many competitors really nervous, namely Yololiv, because they still don't have their camera ready and Core seems like a very serious competitor, since it is wireless and does not need a dedicated device like Yolobox, just a tablet, so this seems very tempting, even more with the HDMI connectivity for other switchers or optional NDI and safety internal recording.

    • @frankfengzhu
      @frankfengzhu 10 місяців тому +2

      Indeed. Very nervous!

    • @draxxicek
      @draxxicek 10 місяців тому

      @@frankfengzhu Hi Frank! I have talked to Mevo representatives and they do not have any plans nor dates for worldwide release, so it might not even come.
      Maybe no need to be nervous, since we cannot judge the product until we see the results IRL, there is a nice window of opportunity for the competition. I think that the wireless option is the main feature and since we all usually have an iPad, this makes a lot of sense. But we also own a Yolobox, so I wonder how complicated it would be to have a similar ecosystem, we have been suggesting in the user group since the first mentions of the AlphaCam.
      And AlphaCam R&D goes way back already, so I understand that the sudden Mevo Core announcement by such a major player was a bit unexpected.
      For example the L shape of tha AlphaCam seems like great idea, because it can easily stand by itself horizontally and vertically. I do appreciate the “fast autofocus”, but for me as a user, the speed of the autofocus is not really an issue, we need autofocus precision, which is for example face/eye/subject tracking, because that would also mean auto cropping/reframing, which can in many cases replace a PTZ cam.
      The main thing that draws me to Mevo Core is the simplicity of the setup and the vast connectivity. Is there any chance that same exosystem would be possible with Yolobox Pro/Ultra? Coming to a streaming session with three AlphaCams, powerful central router and a Yolobox, no cables needed, only external batteries for longer sessions and starting the stream in mere minutes. Also having the option of bigger tally lights for the talents to see where to look and for camera operators to see that they are live in PGM.
      Of course I can’t tell how multiple Mevo Core behave together latency-wise, but judging from the Mevo Start, the latency is tolerable and cameras seem in sync (on a fast wifi). Also the Mevo app allows for video source latency correction.
      This is what the customers need and want so I would love to have a complete quick to set up and lightweight streamin ecosystem based on YB.

    So many people on this comment thread have alot to learn. The box form factor is perfect for live streaming and rigged up cinema shoots. Have you ever tried to changing exposure and compose your cameras for a stream without an app on screen to control everything? Its a nightmare.
    Pro’s:
    1) Sensor size & M43 mount
    2) NDI
    3) Power: Usb-C to Ethernet for POE+ and data stream simultaneously.
    4) Mevo Software to fully control the camera.
    5) 1/4 -20” with Arri pin mounts for secure rigging.
    Cons: Builtin Battery (6 hours)
    CDAF: Contrast AF
    It is half the price of a Panasonic BGH1, ($2,000) with many of its features minus pro features like timecode, shutter angle, and Pro Res Raw out for half the price at $1,000.

    These are cool but why would you buy these over say a Blackmagic micro studio? They are roughly the same price and BM has more history in studio environment and equipment.

      @aaronpk I never sold on an app. When they stop supporting it and you have come dependant in it that sucks. The wireless is neat, but can be unreliable with the amount of noise out there. I have wired lav mics for events when a wireless mic starts getting flooded. The main thing for these is NDI over a USB C network jack, that I hope is just a USB C and proprietary, and HDMI.

    It looks cool, but it's not as good as the BlackMagic Micro Studio Camera 4K G2, which is $4 cheaper and comes with Davinci Resolve. Logitech is charging too much. They needed to at least hit $800 because DR costs $300, so they have to at least get close to $700. The built-in battery is stupid. It's a studio camera. You don't need a battery if if you did you want a replaceable battery.

    I do not recommend this product. I bought two and both have the same problem. This is a product in development and does not work correctly. I bought it and had to return it because via USB-C as a webcam, the image distorts when configured to 4K at 30 frames, and it does not matter what app you are using (I used Windows Camera and OBS). If you increase the light level, the image looks worse.
    Via NDI and HDMI, there are no problems.
