It’s actually every 2 hours after cumulative sun exposure! And about 4-5 hours without any sun exposure (staying inside away from windows not covered by blinds). It’s important to keep a healthy mindset when it comes to wearing sunscreen! There’s a lot of people that use fear to get people to wear sunscreen-like your skin will fall off or you’ll damage your skin forever and have an ugly face if you don’t reapply/forget sunscreen. Love you Abbey!❤️
Oh gosh definitely not what I’m trying to say ever! Not into fear mongering 😊 But UV rays do penetrate window glass so even if I’m inside I always make sure to have it on!
If you are outside & sweating like playing sports ,then you have to apply suncreen every hour ! And I believe the word you meant there was Accumulative ?? Please stay safe !💜💜💜🥁🎵🐉🎤🎶💕💞P.S. I Was wrong cumulative is correct ! Sorry ! Lol.
Their “translucent” is a shade name they use for their lightest shade (in all their powder foundation products), but it’s definitely not a translucent powder, unfortunately. I believe this is a powder foundation and not intended to be used in the same way as other sunscreen powders. Still a decent powder but needs to be used with that mindset. Reapplying this in a shade that was too light for you was akin to reapplying any foundation in a too light shade. Just don’t want to discourage people from using it in a bit of a different manner to get a little extra sun protection. Great review though! Love all your sunscreen stuff
I want to see an updated on the beige color. Thanks for reviewing this product I suffer from hyperpigmentation on my upper lip I have to wear sunscreen
Abbey!!!! I bought the creamy natural color and it's AMAZING. I like it so much better than the brush on spf type because it's too difficult to tell how much you're really applying to your skin. The creamy natural color is perfect, no white cast and not cakey. You have to try it.
@@madame33licious of course!! Just be careful not to apply too much. I use a big fluffy brush because it can look a little cakey if you use too much or reapply too often. Let me know what you think of it. I can't find another powder compact with SPF.
Hey Abby! I’m a new subscriber, and I just wanted to pop in and let you know how much I appreciate your informative videos. It’s so refreshing to see a beauty guru truly give us the scoop, what we really need to know! And wow - I think anybody who reapplies their sunscreen three or four times a day is amazing… I couldn’t do that…
The white cast actually really appeals to me! I can never find a powder that isn’t orange on my skin. Especially with mineral powders. So the fact that it ended up too pale for you is a good sign for me!
I use this on top of my estee lauder double wear and i always get compliments. I also have very sensitive acne prone skin. Thank you! I am sooo glad to know more about the ingredients and know it has spf! ❤ thank you for taking the time out to do the research!
I think this product would work well if you’re wearing a tinted sunscreen not a full face of makeup because mineral sunscreens always have white cast when doing full face of make up. Also, I do want to mention that every time I put on a sunscreen my face gets really sticky like my hair continuously sticks to my face so having a setting powder like this will definitely help. I have oily/combination skin and sometimes I’d like to wear something to help cover up my acne prone skin which is why I lean towards the tinted sunscreens
What if you wear the powder without makeup and reapply every 2 hours? You could do one video with like 5 spfs and no make up and another video w 5 spfs and makeup. I really enjoy your thorough videos! Good job!
You can definitely do that! I just prefer liquid SPF if I’m not wearing makeup! Hmmm I don’t think I could do a wear test of 5 in one video it’d be so long! Is that what you mean?
I wanted to love this but I don't like how it looks on my skin. I used to love their SPF 50 powder compact, but they discontinued that years ago. I'm going to try the Supergoop SPF 45 powder.
I am a long time OG of Physican's formula makeup and these powers work best when applied as a powder foundation. NOT a setting powder. My skin looks BOMB when i put that mineral powder on top of my actual SPF lotions to set them in. Try that instead. :) And Translucent is the only one that leaves the white cast ... Try beige if you're more yellow toned and Creamy Natural if you're more pink undertoned.
I wear my makeup during the day for church and shopping, just like my mom did when I was younger. It’s kept my skin looking younger than it’s 49 years because I always apply my spf 30 sunscreen moisturizer first thing before foundation that contains spf as well. Then a powder spf. I love Bare Minerals mineral veil spf25, still.
Love this! I have used this PF powder for years. I have tried both the translucent and beige color. I would say that the translucent was like a pale white color, way too light to the point where it almost looked like a highlighter. The beige color was darker and matched my skin tone better, had no white cast, just a satiny finish. I usually wear this powder alone over spf moisturizer as I find that the powder alone is pretty high coverage for me already. That said, Applying too much or reapplying does tend to make my skin look a little Cakey sometimes. I think you would like the the beige or creamy natural better, you should give those colors a try and use the translucent as a highlight color. 😊
No matter what brand I use, so-called translucent powder always gives me a white cast. That's why I have to use a color powder that adds a little coverage but doesn't make me look so ghostly! Thanks for checking it out for us though
mine looked really cakey on me. The only Physicians formula powder i loved was the Youthful Wear Spotless powder, it was my holy grail, but its been discontinued!
Thank you for this! I wear makeup all day and need a spf powder to reapply during the day so I am glad you did this review. Wished it worked out though! Please continue to review more!!
I wonder how much of this powder you need to use to get the spf 30? If I'm going to be in the sun I don't even bother with foundation. That way I can reapply sunscreen. Thanks for the review!!
All SPF is tested equally, which meand that you need 2mg per cm² to reach the SPF on the label. For the average face that would mean at least 1g of product. With liquid formulas, a quarter teaspoon will cover your face adequalety. Powder SPF can be tricky, since you'd need a huge amount of product to get to the desired portection. Most compacts contain 8-12g of pruduct, meaning you'd have to use up the whole thing in 8-12 applications. I'd only ever use powdred SPF for reapplications over makeup and regular SPF, never on its own.
I had so much hope until your reapplication!! 😫❤️ I may still try it...like you said, I don’t wear “heavy” makeup unless I’m going out, but I still don’t want to feel self conscious of my skin looking ghostly even when I’m not 🤷🏼♀️. Is there any reason why you chose this particular spf powder? I see physicians formula has another one called Natural Defense Set the Tone Finishing powder. It only has an spf of 20 but it comes in a few different shades. Just curious if you had compared ingredients beforehand and chose this particular one because the others contained irritating ingredients. I love that you’re sharing this information because no one else is! I feel like people are either team SPf and wear no makeup so they can reapply all day, or they aren’t concerned about spf the way they should be...so thank you so SO much! ❤️
I chose this because it’s SPF 30 and had promising ingredients! I’ve been using it for under eye SPF resetting & it’s amazing for that since it’s so brightening 😂
great videos and tips! It's funny people in the U.S. want to be super tan and other countries like the Philippines they want to be super white. Knowing this, I think I'll try to stay happy with my skin.
I would like to see SPF wear tests over makeup. I’m also curious to know if using the next step up in color looks and wears any better. Thank you Abbey!
I have this powder and I wish it was more oil absorbent. I use it for the SPF but it does nothing to control my oils though. I want to try the Goop powder but it’s so pricy in Canada. May look into the Paula’s Choice. I also have the loose version of this powder. It’s okay, not oil absorbent either and only SPF 16. Love SPF videos 😊👍 Also, great review, per usual 😊
I have this powder and actually hadn’t even noticed that it had SPF. Lol. But even just trying to use it as a regular setting powder on my normal-dry skin, I find it looks really cakey. And yes, definitely not translucent.
I think this powder is best for No Makeup days. I would wear this with just sunscreen and a cream bronzer. It would be great in the heat and humidity where the powder would melt more into the skin.
Girl the amount of powder you have applied throughout the day you should be a sahara desert! I wouldnt even put half that amount in normal wear and touch ups! I love spf and looking after my skin but a powder with spf would just be a bonus not a reliant for top up for me personally
I use the tarte spf powder to reapply if I'm wearing make-up. Otherwise I've been loving supergoops mattescreen spf, krave beet the sun spf and the colorscience. Definitely my top favorites. I tend to buy new ones all the time though since there are just so many new options all the time. I just love how thorough you are on using spf. I've been on tretinoin for only about a year now which dramatically transformed my skin. I'd love to say I was using spf religiously before that; but unfortunately that's not accurate. Anyway, love your videos!
For me personally, I am looking for SPF (liquids or powders) that work well under makeup. Thank you for doing this video on this powder. That ingredient list was really tempting so your video helped me avoid buying something that will make me look like a 👻 ghost lol. That white cast was spooky 🤣 I appreciate you.
I bought this powder for SPF a few years ago and I am a light/medium tone. I absolutely cannot put this on without looking so pale during the day and it made my skin so dry. This was a total fail. I ended up buying the SPF powder with twist up brush from Costco that has more of a tint. I’d have to see what the name is. I wanted to buy the ColourScience one but it is so expensive. Physicians Formula only had ‘translucent’ when I bought this. I would be curious to see if there is a difference with the ‘deeper’ shade. Not very inclusive at all.
Can you try the Brush On Block SPF 30 Mineral Powder Sunscreen? The powder looks tinted so it may be better at not giving a white cast lol. Thank you for your thorough review & having to have a white cast on your face all day!
I think the beige color would have been a better match for you and I never reapply to cheeks 😑 I love this product. I do not wear any foundation underneath just an olay moisturizer
Have you tried one of the other two shades? (I think there is a Creamy Natural and a Beige, which is a horrible shade range...) I'd be interested to know what they look like
Ok. Thanks Abbey. Oh great news I'm really enjoying the Australian Botanical tinted SPF. Been using it for about a week now and no breakouts. I've never really used SPF before. Now i want to try your fav the color science 😉
I used to loved this powder but now i have Sana powder spf50 that doesn't makes me cakey mid day. Also derma e on, with a brush gets super dirty.. powder with high spf r hard to come by
Hi Abbey! I would like to see both videos, one replying with and without makeup. Thanks for this video and all the deets. How about using the SPF touch up sprays. I think that would be much quicker / convenient when wearing a full face of makeup, not having to reapply bronzer, etc. Have you tried any of those? I'm curious. I've been thinking about picking one up and just wondering your thoughts on that. Thanks again🤗 xoxo
Hi Abbey! Have you tried the beige one? Also, what would you recommend if I have a light skin tone, probably lighter than yours? I'm afraid that the beige will be too dark for me
You are beautiful and what I’m hearing you have a good head on your shoulders. As soon as I’m through with what I have I’m going to buy more CeraV cleaners. I did notice they came out with a acne line, I will buy all of that for my granddaughter
So I tried the other two shades, creamy natural and beige on my brown skin and they both looked ashy/white as hell …. Not sure how to fix it coz I really wanna incorporate spf powders in my routine for reapplication
I gave up spf powders because im medium-tan.... I just touch up with the fenty invisimatte powder which doesn't add powder on the skin, it just makes the foundation look freshly applied but for spf I soak my face in the milani spf 30 setting spray, no caking 100% would recommend
Hi there, how would you compare this product to the Scinic spf 50 powder, or colorescience, mineral fusion, or derma E spf powder brushes? I’m not sure which spf power to try. Thank you!!
If you do tinted over untinted sunscreen, would you reapply both or just the tinted one? Also, I am interested in sunscreen testing both ways. Since you wear SPF as primer, I would like to see how different ones affect makeup wear throughout the day. I use primer over my spf but I wonder if I could get away with no primer. There are also some SPFs that I wear alone when I'm outside all day. Or at most, if I'm at a music festival or something all day, I wear eye makeup only so I can reapply my SPF with no issues, and my eyes are covered by UV sunglasses.
Hi! I’m looking for a powder that look natural on the skin have a nice glow and cover pores and some fine lines I don’t use make up just mascara I will like to just put a nice powered on my face wish one is you favorite?
Is there really enough spf in setting powder to save your skin from sun damage? I thought it would be like foundation w spf in it and how dermatologists tell us we can’t depend on that
I think it’s the brush.....maybe not a powder brush but def not a foundation brush. I have a bronzer brush the has a texture between the two. Just a thought! 💕. Thanks for what you do.
No, it’s the powder. I have it too and it applies the same on me no matter how lightly I apply it! Translucent is def not translucent for Physicians Formula.
have you tried this without foundation? maybe like for a daytime, foundation-free day? it almost seems like it would give a flawless look.. could you do a video like that, please? thanks!
Just curious if you'd be open to a setting spray with an SPF in it, like the Neutrogena facial mist with 45 (I think) SPF? Thanks for doing this type of video. The struggle is annoying.
@@AbbeyYung yeah, after watching the rest of the video, I realized you only use mineral sunscreen and that one most likely didn't have those ingredients. 😉
I have this product. it is thick like a powder foundation, and will cake up quickly. its clearly not meant to be worn over liquid foundation. the translucent is FAR from translucent. it's very peach probably to counteract the white of the sunscreen. applying SPF every two hours if one is not outside, sweating, swimming, etc.is absolutely ridiculous. try it over just over sunscreen. and only one layer. I'm just done with beauty UA-cam and it's sunscreen obsession.
does lauryl lysol cause any concern to u in this? i looked it up and it’s apparently from coconut, which we all know is bad for acne prone skin. i have this powder and love it so i’m just wondering!:)
LOVE cetaphil tinted sunscreen. Wish it had 30 apt.. But I have yet to find any other that looks as good & my skin loves. Was excited when cerave came out w a tinted version, but it just looks awful on me & feels so heavy... I had this powder in my cart last week & ended up w the elf halo which I hated.
Do you think powder and spray are effective compared to the traditions like lotion/cream types? But if I have to reapply i prefer powder and spray. I heard you have to do more often and many layers for it to be enough spf in it? Like I would be drench my makeup or cake up with powder ? 😂
Powder spf is pretty useless anyway, you'd have to use so incredibly much to even get close to the spf that it doesn't properly protect you. Especially if you consider that the spf drops exponentially if you apply less than the required amount to meet the spf. With powder you probably don't even reach an spf of 5. Just use a normal sunscreen.
This video is for those that have asked to see SPF powder reviews. Many people want an option for SPF to reapply over makeup. Using a regular sunscreen is usually not an option in that scenario 😊
@@AbbeyYung I didn't mean to criticise you for reviewing this kind of alternative. I just think it's important to point out that powder with spf, even if you reapply it, doesn't provide any or really minimal protection so it shouldn't be relied on for reapplying and protection. Sure, it's better than nothing, but if you're out in the sun for a long time, then you should make sure you have the opportunity to reapply your regular sunscreen at some point. :)

Hi Abbey! Have you tried the beige one? Also, what would you recommend if I have a light skin tone, probably lighter than yours? I'm afraid that the beige will be too dark for me
OMG I love your makeup!!! You look so beautiful
You are beautiful and what I’m hearing you have a good head on your shoulders. As soon as I’m through with what I have I’m going to buy more CeraV cleaners. I did notice they came out with a acne line, I will buy all of that for my granddaughter
Aw thank you so much ♥️
What a bummer.!! Video reapplying WITH makeup please 😘
Hey Abbey, just wondering if you ever found the best powder spf for reapplying sunscreen. i would live a 2023 update.
honestly i just give up on reapplying sunscreen over my makeup 😅 it’s too difficult
So I tried the other two shades, creamy natural and beige on my brown skin and they both looked ashy/white as hell …. Not sure how to fix it coz I really wanna incorporate spf powders in my routine for reapplication
I gave up spf powders because im medium-tan.... I just touch up with the fenty invisimatte powder which doesn't add powder on the skin, it just makes the foundation look freshly applied but for spf I soak my face in the milani spf 30 setting spray, no caking 100% would recommend
ohhh interesting... will have to look into this!
I have a different spf powder but I don’t think it’s truly protecting me for some reason
I’ve been using this powder for many years with the Tati powder puff. Love it! What brush did you use to re-apply?
I think with white face you even better looking than applying bronze.
What color eye shadows are you wearing please. It looks amazing
I just reapply the tinted one!
Abbey Yung Good to know, thanks!
I couldn't follow which bare mineral color she tried?
Wear tests of SPF with makeup please! And if you do try the other shade of this powder I would love to see that as well!
I need to get it! I will give an update once I do!
Hi! I’m looking for a powder that look natural on the skin have a nice glow and cover pores and some fine lines I don’t use make up just mascara I will like to just put a nice powered on my face wish one is you favorite?
Is there really enough spf in setting powder to save your skin from sun damage? I thought it would be like foundation w spf in it and how dermatologists tell us we can’t depend on that
spf wear test without makeup 💛
I’m looking for a powder for touch up SPF 30 or ideally 50 with high UVA.
Is this the best powder ? Do you know a good 50 one? Or which is your fave ?
So we have to redo everything every two hours…. Not realistic
Maybe resetting sprays will be the answer
You should review the Neutrogena spf powder
ohhhh I don't think I've seen this one... need to check it out!
Question how do u take off your eye makeup without getting irritated ? What do u use ?
I think it’s the brush.....maybe not a powder brush but def not a foundation brush. I have a bronzer brush the has a texture between the two. Just a thought! 💕. Thanks for what you do.
Yeah unfortunately you just don’t get the same SPF coverage with a fluffy brush 😕
No, it’s the powder. I have it too and it applies the same on me no matter how lightly I apply it! Translucent is def not translucent for Physicians Formula.
I just got the Ilia skin tint foundation serum spf 40. Maybe for no makeup makeup look with the ilia and this powder in the other color?
Ohhh I’ve never tried Ilia! Do you like it?
So far I love it! Makes it easy to apply powder spf over top
Such a useful video than you! 💙🙏🏻🕊 How did you get on with the It Cosmetics spf 50 powder? I cannot make it work for me? 🤔
Can I put this directly on top of my skin and skip foundation?
have you tried this without foundation? maybe like for a daytime, foundation-free day? it almost seems like it would give a flawless look.. could you do a video like that, please? thanks!
I haven’t! I only use SPF powder with foundation
@@AbbeyYung thank you for getting back to me so quickly!
Just curious if you'd be open to a setting spray with an SPF in it, like the Neutrogena facial mist with 45 (I think) SPF? Thanks for doing this type of video. The struggle is annoying.
That one doesn’t have mineral active ingredients so it’s not one I’d use! Of course 😊
@@AbbeyYung yeah, after watching the rest of the video, I realized you only use mineral sunscreen and that one most likely didn't have those ingredients. 😉
Good review. Very knowledgeable.
😊
I would like to see you use one of the other colors of the Physicians Formula (the beige or creamy natural) as a foundation.
Great video! Can I know whether the white cast will be apparent on asian skin?
I would like to have videos for both with / without makeup. Thank you.
Can you do another review for Neutrogena healthy skin compact makeup with spf 55, and another for avene compact makeup with spf 50?
LOVE cetaphil tinted sunscreen. Wish it had 30 apt.. But I have yet to find any other that looks as good & my skin loves. Was excited when cerave came out w a tinted version, but it just looks awful on me & feels so heavy... I had this powder in my cart last week & ended up w the elf halo which I hated.
Agreed on Cetaphil! Would love an SPF 30
Can you please add the make up products you used in this video?
Can you show your skincare routine for the am and pm?
Both videos please!
Haha ah I can’t do two videos for each sunscreen though 😩 I’ll have to think through how to make that work
What lip products did you use? Love the color!!!
Jeffree Star velour liquid lip in celebrity skin with Buxom White Russian gloss on top!
Abbey Yung thank you lovely!
Love your nail & lip colors - what are they?
Jeffree star velour liquid lipstick in celebrity skin with buxom gloss on top, nails are Ella & Mila sugar fairy!
I would like to see a more natural look for SPF wear test.
If I’m wearing makeup I always wear it like this! The only difference may be no eyeshadow but this is what I always do for my face
Do you think powder and spray are effective compared to the traditions like lotion/cream types? But if I have to reapply i prefer powder and spray. I heard you have to do more often and many layers for it to be enough spf in it? Like I would be drench my makeup or cake up with powder ? 😂
I do not! Lotions and creams are a safer bet.
Is this shade good for every skin tone?
