Maintaining hydration and reapplying sunscreen two times a day is what works best for me. The riceberry sunscreen from liittllextra is currently my favorite, as it suits those with oily or combination skin perfectly. It doesn't feel like a sunscreen, absorbs really quickly into the skin and leaves a matte finish. Probably the only sunscreen that hasn't felt oily on my skin. Absolutely loved it!

For those dark skinned people wondering about biossance. I’m medium-deep skinned tone. I use biossance. I’ve used it for two years. It’s starts out like a white cast, and after rubbing it in, it does disappear after about one-two min. I do rub it out of my eyebrow hair. It does rub out easy.

I have a medium brown skin (more brown than medium). Biossance leaves a little bit of a white-cast if I don't thoroughly (full 2 minutes ^) rub it in. It also leaves more of a white-cast on the more peach fuzzier parts of my face but as long as I properly massage my face with it, nothing shows.

I’m so glad that you mentioned colorscience! I would be interested in their opinion although they may have commented in a previous video. I love it. I also have pale skin so I use the fair skin tone version. As I have a lot of oil still in my 70-year-old skin, I was looking for a product to combine a sunscreen and some color. It helps me use less foundation, which was my goal. I do set it with a little powder and finishing spray, but because I still have good oil in my skin, I do have to blot it during the day. You definitely cannot say that all older people have dry skin, that is a myth. lol!

The tinted sunscreen by Live tinted is amazing for dark skin people. This is the first tinted sunscreen that has ever blended into my skin and looks like real skin.
It’s a game changer. My skin looks amazing now. Completely worth the money if you have brown skin. I was worried it wasn’t going to last long for the price, but ive gotten no more discoloration or sunburn and I only use a little
I also have tried it with 100 spf mineral sunscreen underneath and it completely hid the white cast.

The only tinted sunscreens that blend with my Fitzpatrick I skin tone are 42 dollars an ounce or some such 😭I do wear the Elta MD UV Elements tinted anyway, but it looks like I've self-tanned or picked the wrong foundation, yikes. Most days I reach for ISDIN (the white one), or a Korean organic hydrating sunscreen (Skin1004, Haruharu Wonder, IUNIK, Thank You Farmer, all make great ones). And yeah, that Clinique Take The Day Off Balm is fantastic, I keep my nieces stocked with it. I'm a sucker for the Yadah Green Tea Cleansing Balm myself, but the Clinique is great.

Onion extract is the active ingredient in old-school scar creams. From the Mederma website: "Onion extract contains the flavonoids quercetin and kaempferol, which help to promote collagen production, regulate fibroblast activity, and have soothing, anti-inflammatory properties"
So it's not weird to me at all that a skin care brand would develop a line highlighting onion.

Every single suncreen I try, leaves me sooooo shiny. I hate it. I wear Elta MD 46 tinted. But, I use Supergoop Setting Powder over it. Helps for a little while, but end up being shiny. I've also tried Skinbetter 75, Skinceuticals, Elta, Colorscience, Neutrogena, Allen Roth, Obagi, Revision, Epionce, LaRoche Posay, etc. So frustrating. I have acne prone skin and Roseacea, so a double whammy. The shine accentuates my acne scarring, too.
Please recommend sunscreens that don't make you shiny all the time. They make me feel gross and very self-conscious.

There are some water resistant Asian sunscreens out there. Try Japanese sunscreens! The only sunscreen I’ve been able to get my husband to use is Skin Aqua Super Moisture Gel (SPF 50+ PA++++). It’s thin and easily blends in with no white cast or fragrance. It does have alcohol but I personally don’t find it drying and I’m normal to dry. It’s 140g and comes with an easy to use pump. Stylevana usually has it for ~$10.

Agree w/ you Dr Maxfield re: tinted sunscreen! For me , its so challenging to find a mineral sunscreen that is a matte /satin finish and tinted for tan/deep skin. Australian Gold SPF50 in med/deep tint is my HG for years.
I avoid chemical sunscreen because i have hyperpigmentation and ive read that:
"Yes, chemical sunscreens can produce heat as a byproduct when they absorb UV radiation, which can potentially worsen hyperpigmentation conditions.
Hyperpigmentation is a common skin condition that causes some areas of the skin to be darker than others. Heat can trigger melasma, a type of
hyperpigmentation, especially in people with darker skin tones."
Do u agree with this Drs Max n Shah? Im concerned because i really would like to try our K- sunscreens. Also, are the SPF stickers reliable in testing sunscreen efficacy?

    • @shalop5614
      @shalop5614 7 місяців тому

Good news, you don't need to worry about this! There is no significant difference in heat between physical and chemical sunscreens. Both chemical and physical sunscreens absorb almost all UV, and the vast majority of heat comes from inferred and visible light, not UV.

I agree without you and have the same preferences regarding mineral sunscreens. after a lot of research, trial and error, I found personally that the MDsolarsciences mineral tinted and the Isdin ageless tinted are the best for me. I don't even feel that I'm wearing sunscreen because of how lightweight they are, and they're very smooth/matte while still being moisturizing, not drying, and also water resistant. chemical sunscreens not only cause hyperpigmentation but are damaging to the oceans and coral, are irritating for sensitive and acne prone skin, and not to mention the research regarding absorption into the bloodstream and hormonal changes. even if the research is limited and needs further investigation, if there is even a chance that chemical sunscreens can harm both human AND environmental health, mineral sunscreens are 100% the way to go.
