    I live in an extremely hot and humid climate, it's almost impossible for me to reapply sunscreen on sweaty, dirty face, so I go for physical shades. Firstly, I apply my sunscreen and always wear hat and sunglasses, if I have to go out after 2-3 hours of applying sunscreen then I put on a upf protected scarf, hat and my sunglasses. I know that's not possible for many people but just an option, if your lifestyle supports it.

    • @goodenurseV

      It's miserable in Florida as well. Anything you've done literally melts as soon as you're outside... And sometimes inside IT'S SO HUMID. But you can always try to wear a hat and 😎. And for sunscreens, the only one that stays on my face but doesn't bother my skin for a long time outdoors is Neutragena sport face sunscreen. I've been wearing The One That's Got it All by Hello Sunday brand under makeup and it is a primer too. Not suffocating to wear and doesn't destroy your makeup.

    My solution: not wearing makeup
    Pros: less product to own/buy, less complications, and less likely to flare my eczema
    Cons: some people think I am being lazy and unkept because I don't wear makeup (then proceed to get surprised at the variety of skincare products I own)

    • @venithy5749
      @venithy5749 3 роки тому +13

      I stopped wearing foundation like 2 years ago (and you would never see me without it because i used to have acne and scars when i was younger). Nobody ever told me I am lazy for not wearing it, on contrary people now are complimenting my skin.
      But on that note, wearing sunscreen is easy peasy when not wearing makeup, especially as a person with oiler skin.

    • @hot_salsa_dipping_sauce

    • @venithy5749
      @venithy5749 3 роки тому +4

      @@hot_salsa_dipping_sauce Honestly sometimes i think it's the expectations we set. If you always wear a full face of makeup with smokey eyes and full lips, contour etc. The moment when you go makeup free people will think you look sick or weird. It's just that comparison.
      But for the fellow friends i have that have never wore makeup i just can't imagine them with it, they look perfect the way they are. (And we all do for that matter)
      On contrary i once went out with no makeup (which i wasn't used to) and felt completely stressed about it and i had 3 guys in my group of friends tell me (without me asking) that i look so much better without makeup.
      But never in my life have i heard someone tell a girl that they look lazy for not wearing makeup.

    I've had this question for years. I live in India and the sun is pretty bad and SPF is super important. But there's also pollution and sweaty-ness so the combination of factors makes it terrible for reapplication. I had started washing my face at work at lunch and then applying sunscreen from scratch all over again. A couple of issues to this approach - I have made a mess of my work clothes by splashing water. And I can never wear make up in the day time. This was ok when I was younger, but as I'm aging, I like some coverage, just to look a little more awake and feel a little more confident at work. I'm going to try the powder sunscreen for reapplication next time I go into the office. Thank you so much for addressing this!! ❤️❤️😭

    I'm really concerned with "dirty" reapplication. Reapplying over "the day" of oil or dirt or pollution or germs.
    My thoughts is to wipe down with a toner in between ( to degrease and kills some germs).

      I personally use the cushion technique. Basically using an empty cushion foundation I put sunscreen inside to reapply. It solves the water issue. As for adequate coverage, yeah regardless of what method you pick if you aren't doing the full application then yeah it won't be adequate. If you want full then you have to sacrifice makeup. Personally I just sacrifice that bit of protection for it. Lab muffin beauty science does an excellent video about it even breaking down powder sunscreens and contacting the colorscience company for more info. (Spoiler: they probably don't give enough protection either) really good video if you want to know more!

    I hate that I'm commenting twice in a row, but now that I've watches the whole video ... what about your eye lids? I work at an optometrist office and you would be surprised how many people don't know that sun damage can also cause cancer on the eye lids and even you actual eyeballs. Sunglasses with a uv protective filter on them would be the best option, but (again surprisingly) there's a good amount of people who don't go for that option. Is there a non stinging option for the eyelid area?

    Omg. Thank you so much for this!!
    I'm a heliocare baby, so I tried method 2 with the heliocare watergel. Amazing, amazing amazing. Tried method 3 with the Airgel on my heavy makeup. It's a foamy texture, kinda like shaving cream. I applied it with a clean powder brush and it just disappeared into my skin. Just had to repowder after for the slight shine it left. But WOW!
    THANK YOU!!

    Thank you for doing a video about this. I too, was at a loss once about this and it bugged me to no end because I really wanted to enjoy my makeup but still be protected. It's sad that not many know this. I use to used a beauty sponge along with my thick mineral sunscreen which was messy and awful. Then after much research, I found Supergoop's Re-setting Spf spray. I'll use it on days even when I am not wearing makeup which isn't a lot, for a quick re-application.

  • @nicoleduncan4056

    The issue with using a serum/ chemical sunscreen is it takes 20 minutes to work. When I am leaving work I do not have time to reapply until after I have clocked out. Using a mineral sunscreen is quick and works instantly.

    Great video. I would also warn people to test their sunblock and makeup together AT HOME first for a few hours. I applied a facial sunblock that I have used many times with no issue and put my everyday foundation over it for the first time, and my face started severely burning within 15 minutes. I've never had a reaction to *either* product, but when all the chemicals are combined it must have caused a different reaction. You want to be at home and able to wash it all off *quickly* if that happens :)

    It's miserable in Florida.

    Thank you for these tips! I have been using a powder from Tarte but feel like it isn’t enough so I’m off to buy spray.
    Also, thank you for the reminder to talk to our dermatologist. I see one annually to check for skin cancers because I’m high risk growing up at a high elevation. I never really thought to ask about other skin issues. Last week I asked about these annoying spots that are not acne. Turns out they were sebaceous hyperplasia and a little time with a laser (ouch) hopefully got rid of them. Not necessary but they bothered me so it was my choice to do that for me.

      Agree. We need the vitamin D.
      If its summer I put it on...other than that I really don't think you need it everyday. I have a spf in my foundation and although apparently that isnt good enough it works for me. I have a tendency to break out with any other suncream on my face. The only sun protection I like is calpso dry oil spray...I can spray that on my face without breaking out when its summer and I try to not to be in the sun all day.
      I'm sure others will slate me Gwyneth Paltrow style x

    I really needed someone to talk to on this topic. I have scrolled through youtube/the internet and no one ever bothers to talk on this topic. Once I heard some influencer say you can just use a sunscreen powder over the topic of your makeup as a process of reapplying. I was not at all sure about this trick. Before the pandemic, it was an issue I had but now since our lives have changed it is not that of a big deal. But once we have the chance to go out and do whatever we want I would be super in need of all the information that is provided through this video. Take your notebook out and jot down all.
