    Thanks for the video and good advice, can you just connect to the customers garden tap instead of using the tank ?

    • @DirtyDriveAway
      @DirtyDriveAway  3 роки тому +1

      Not on professional washers. Since a professional grade washer will output more water then what a domestic tap can supply, it needs a tank to draw water from. Lower spec washers typically less than 15lpm can sometimes be connected to a garden tap, providing the supply is sufficient.

    Hello Phill, nice set up been thinking about doing this! Just wondering how much (length) high pressure hose do you carry/ have as some jobs in back garden can be a long way from the van If your at the bk of the property. Do you worry about leaving the van unattended and your hoses traling on the public footpath if your out back and cant see the van? cheers Phill, Matt

      matthew calder hi matt, i carry 40m on the reel and a 10m extension. I dont worry about the van, i dont tend to leave anything worth nicking in it whilst im away. If im working at the back i tend to try and park on the drive if poss. The washer is tied in the van and it would need to be switched off and un plumbed to get it out buy which time i would have noticed. To be honest when your on the trigger you can barely move the hose because of the weight and pressure in it. Phill

    Hi, thanks for the very helpful vid, I am looking to startup a similar business to yours, but I will look to remove the Jetwash once or twice a week, I will have a machine like yours and similar van and using ramps, do you you think it would be manageable for one man to roll the machine on and of the van

    • @DirtyDriveAway
      @DirtyDriveAway  2 роки тому +1

      Well mine is 100% static, it runs from the water tank in the van and I only remove it once a year for servicing. Its just too heavy for removing too often. You may want to consider a smaller machine if mobility is what you want. The GX390 engines are a lot lighter and still output 200bar at 21lpm. I personally wouldn't want to be removing a washer the size of mine too frequently, yes it's possible but man it's heavy. I no longer use the small van as it was simply put too small. I now have a renault trafic which gives me much more space. After a days cleaning the last thing I would be wanting to do is trying to get a massive washer back into a van.

    Phil. I’ve got a 450 tank just now it’s great but was thinking of going down to a 250l for space or would you say stick with the 450? Ive found regardless where I am it’s gonna run out just the 250 Will full up quicker

    • @DirtyDriveAway
      @DirtyDriveAway  3 роки тому +1

      Hmm that's a tough one. That's a fair volume drop and I suppose it really depends what the average flow rate is from the customers tap. I rarely run out of water now since using 19mm (3/4") feed hose with full bore connectors, but 250 for me wouldn't last long. If your running a lower flow rate machine, less than 18lpm you could drop to 250 and then base your machine power of the tank feed rate (get a flow meter, they are great)

    Hi mate will a 22mm pipe at bottom provide enough flow to run a pressure washer if it is gravity fed? Thankyou

    • @DirtyDriveAway
      @DirtyDriveAway  6 років тому +1

      George Wain. Hey george, most pumps rely on gravity/syphon action to get the water up. Problem is in order for this to work the washer needs to be below the water level which is not always easy. With this tank setup the sheer weight of the water and also the suction from the pump is more than adequate to supply my pump but then it is a big pump which is capable of 350bar. All pumps have suction in order to start drawing the water up and over the storage tank. Your actual pump probably only has a 1/2"bsp inlet which is then enlarged with an adpator to accept a 1" hose tail barb, which will then connect to a 1" reinforced suction/delivery hose.

    Hi mate, I'm in planning to set up myself, I'm actually looking at a bigger van transit mwb or lwb medium roof. Do you find 400 litre tank is enough? Do you run a hose Into the tank whilst your working away with the machine? Does it empty fast? I know some people hse a 360 litre wheelie bins or x2 200 litre tanks. I'm looking at a Honda gsx 390 watertek pressure washer 200 bar 21 lpm & also a flat surface cleaner, is that good enough to start out? Would you recommend anything else?

    • @DirtyDriveAway
      @DirtyDriveAway  3 роки тому

      200 @ 21 is a good machine. Nice balance of pressure and flow. I find 400L does me OK, it wont really matter how big a tank you have, on some jobs it will always empty. You need to run a garden hose into the tank whilst running to keep it filling up. 400L without continuous top up won't last long. Wheelie bins are ok if your planning on taking the machine out the van. I run with may machine in the van as it keeps everything cleaner and more professional. I can also have my machine plumbed straight to the tank for a neat setup. Flat surface cleaners are OK but they lack real performance on heavy weeds and moss. I only use mine a couple times a year as turbo nozzles give a better finish at the sacrifice of speed. Damian at qwashers does a nice twin turbo lance setup. He will also hook you up with a decent GX390 washer too, and everything you need to get running. Problem is people forget its not just the washer you need, extra hoses, reels, lances etc are all needed too.

    • @JayG94
      @JayG94 3 роки тому

      @@DirtyDriveAway Thanks for the reply I appreciate it, I'm pretty much 100% decided on the machine now I've had lots of good feedback about it, your videos of the van has helped me aswell so thanks, I've got a just under £3k at the moment & saving every month, I'm employed full time on a zero hours contract where I can choose my days to be on/off so that will work quite well whilst I ease into it, Depending on van size I would probably get the tank & also carry a wheelie bin round incase I can't park anywhere near the job or something. I've currently got a barrel with a ball valve in sitting in garage so I could always use that if need be. What's beat to start out to get jobs coming in? Facebook page/website/ leaflets?

    • @DirtyDriveAway
      @DirtyDriveAway  3 роки тому

      @@JayG94 website is your best bet, although it can take 6months-1 year for a website to become fully functioning on Google. Leaflets have a very poor rate of return at around 1%. Facebook is OK but unless you want to put money into doing it it won't really generate anything. I started in a local resident magazine, did that for couple years and it worked OK. Problem is people throw all that stuff out along with leaflets etc. Getting a good flow of work is very hard and takes time. Took me around 3 years to get a good regular stream of work. Your best off having a tank in the van and using extension hoses. I have up to 70m of hose from my washer and ive never needed anything longer.

    • @JayG94
      @JayG94 3 роки тому

      Ok thanks, patience & persistence is key then, I'm fine with that. I don't mind investing in leaflets, advertisement boards at roundabouts etc & other methods to boost jobs, I suppose really I'm only going to be free Saturday & Sunday at the beginning anyway, think I'm going to use Rutland pumps to buy machine & Lance's etc, so do you have a x1 70m hose you use everyday or is that in parts? With the machine I'm looking to buy it comes with a option to mount a hose reel to the trolley/washer with various hose lengths 30m + etc. I wouldn't a clue what kind of length I guess 40m? Would you recommend quoting/charging by going out to measure up then charging per square metre or guess a price that's reasonable for both parties?

    • @DirtyDriveAway
      @DirtyDriveAway  3 роки тому +1

      @@JayG94 get yourself a pricing structure and stick to it. Dont go by eye, measure and price. I have a 40m hose on the machine and then a 20m and 10m extension.
