Mandelson is very pleased with Starmer, the membership isn't because he's picked a fight with those who do not see themselves as "Centrists". Mandelson is making sure the puppet leader (whoever) will change the voting system for electing leader of the party so that only the PLP (MP's) decides. Hence forever the party will be led by Blairites or Centrists because the membership will no longer have a democratic vote to decide who will stand as leader. The party will then die (Pasokification) and the Centrist's work is done. Goodbye real opposition and democracy, welcome to Neo-liberalism..
"But that won't all go through like it's supposed to" and "The core membership chose you and they'll expose you" are such a Corbyn things to say, I really hope it turns out that way
Perfect, except you should have added two more figures. Gordon Brown advocating a return to the EU to get Remainer Scots and young progressives back, and Len McCluskey basically telling young remainers to take a hike.
I won't be voting Labour any time soon, but I do respect the way Starmer deals with Boris' bullshit in Parliament, and it can't be denied that he's a very strong and talented speaker. Edit: In the general election I may have to vote tactically, which would mean voting for Labour because they have the best chance of unseating the Tories. In all local elections, however, I will continue to vote Lib Dem.
@@Qatari2007 yes. Labour hasn't been the same since Blair, im not a lib so i wont vote Lib Dems and, UKIP, Reform UK (Brexit Party) and Tory are essentially the same only with differing amounts of mask off racism. But again, I wont really vote
On a serious note, why would Keir follow the direction of a man that created a generation of disillusioned working-class ex-Labour voters in Tony Blair? This isn't 1997 & now that Brexit is out the way, people are going to want solid policies. If Keir is just relying on the ineptitude of the tories being so self-evident that in 3 years time people will be desperate for a change of guard, he's in for a big shock.
Blair did better than Brown or Corbyn. In terms of votes and likeability (at the time of voting) it wasn't even close. Nobody cares about policies if your leader is unelectable

This is something I never understand. When English voters accept and cheer at the Tories for not having any moral principle and damaging the country for their selfish greed, the same voters would mock Labour for the smallest of things even though Labour runs the country better. Would someone be kind enough to explain to me?
I agree 100% its because of the neverending rightwing propaganda spued out by the press against the good honest trustworthy and a very decent man Jeremy Corbyn
1. England is a liberal country. 2. Labour, seen as a "sane alternative" to the Tories is becoming more and more right-wing and just like the Tories. 3. Almost eternal chaos in the Labour Party. While Tories have something like that in smaller scale they manage to win elections and that isn't even seen.
@@idiocrat3744 Most people don't actually have a slightest clue about what liberalism implies. They feel that it brings more freedom, but it doesn't. Liberalism essentially means there wouldn't be any regulation or moral boundary to restrict the power of capitalism. Our country legalises bribery is a very apparent sign of it being Liberal. It is very sad that your first statement cannot be more correct. I dunno whether the problem is Labour. The government and the press being owned by industry interest groups seem to be the root cause. It seems quite obvious that the mainstream media has very successfully divides and conquers the left because it controls the public narrative, yet the Conservatives never received a fraction of pressure from the public.
