@@thomastakesatollforthedark2231 One is the opposition when they are the plurality party that is not in power. So the goal of an opposition is to question the ruling government and call them out on anything improper as well as shadow them in cabinet positions so as to provide alternative solutions or to step in if their party should gain the majority. When Labour is in government they do very well and stay in power for a good few years. The problem is when they are out of power they tend to stay out for a long time. If Boris finishes out his term till 2024 the conservatives will have held power for 14 years.
