  • If you're aiming to lose weight, you're likely aware of the crucial role a calorie deficit plays in fat loss. A calorie deficit means consuming fewer calories than your body burns, which forces it to utilize stored fat cells for energy.
This principle is based on the first law of thermodynamics, which states that energy cannot be created or destroyed. Therefore, weight loss occurs when the body taps into its fat stores due to a calorie deficit.
While this scientific law is widely accepted, knowing that you need to consume fewer calories doesn't necessarily make it easier to accomplish. There are two important factors that this concept alone fails to address:
Not all calories are created equal. Some foods are more beneficial for fat loss than others when compared calorie for calorie. Different diets and food choices vary in their ease of adherence.
The elephant in the room for any dieting program is adherence. If a diet is not easy or satisfying to follow in the long term, no matter how fast you could lose weight on it if you stick to it, you won't reap the benefits because you can't maintain it. Stick around and watch the video until the end to learn a couple of strategies that I use on a daily basis that promotes consistency and allows me to maintain my 40 lbs weight loss.

Each day I inch closer to fully plant based. With keto, I lost water weight really fast and then stalled and didn’t actually lose any weight. Plus I lost my hair and flares my gastritis. 😢.
I am ashamed to say I used to eat a vegan diet. I lived a vegan lifestyle in general but one day I just gave my whole lifestyle up because I was depressed and couldn’t bring myself out of it (had nothing to do with my diet but all to do with my life circumstances and I didn’t have good coping skills). I regret ever taking that step backwards.
I’m not just going for weight loss but trying to get back to the version of myself I once knew.

Eating 1200-1600 calories, 120-160g protein, 100-150g carbs, and 40-60g fat has help me lose 8lbs in 11 days (with exercise) after being stuck for MONTHS! 🙌🥳 also haven’t felt at all starved or deprived. I’m not strictly vegan or vegetarian anymore but still heavy plant based.

Chili girl here 🙋🏼‍♀️ I always have my own special chili mill next to me on the table to add some heat when cooking for more people than just myself 😂
    Two tipps I have:
If you wet a kitchen towel and put it under your cutting board, it should stay in place better 😊
When moving your veg on the board, turn your knife and use the back of it to scootch it over. Your knives will thank you 😜

Fantastic well thought out video . Your an amazing communicator . I think it would be also helpful to talk about the fibre content of the unprocessed food that keeps you full and the unprocessed food doesn’t have much fibre at all . Ive only got 2 kilos to lose and Ive increased my quantities of vegetables , fruit and grains (a cup of oats for breakfast rather than 1/2 cup) and have significantly cut down on fats … 1 T walnuts rather than 2 every other day and 1/4 avocado every other day only and I’m shifting these last kilos. More volume …. Less fat and calories . It’s been a game changer for me

Iii m 62 and vegan for 7 years. I have just started my raw food journey with the 80/10/10 dediet of 80% raw foods. I have had to cut back on starches (potatoes, beans, legumes) because at age 60, metabolism decreases significantly. I notice a lot of younger people preparing meals with at least one starch in the recipe. However, older people may not be able to eat as much starchy food without gaining weight.

When Elizabeth Taylor (RIP🙏) lost a lot of weight, she went to an elite “fat farm” spa. At that spa, they placed people immediately on a fast for a few days then 800 calories of just fruit and a salad for about 3 weeks. Then the slowly increased the calories to 1000. By the end of 2-3 months, the calories were increased slightly to an amount the clients would be able to sustain outside of the spa. So I can see 800 calories in the short-term of a few months but not in the long-term.

It’s good to keep something in mind - all our bodies are different. Our age, hormone levels especially, genetic predisposition all come into play. It’s all great stuff. But I know your way also works for me. However I know people who are carnivore. Low fat and low carbs technically, at least refined carbs and they feel and look great. I could not and would not want to do this ever. But everyone is built different. I also adjust my eating based on my cycle as women need a bit more carbs the week prior to their cycle start in order to support hormonal balance.

I seriously love ur channel. I’m vegetarian it obviously our diets overlap and there are more vegan channels then there are vegetarian channels.
But it’s so rare to find a channel that is more about the diet and health vs the ethical part. (Which is also great but isn’t what I’m looking for)
A lot of my switch to being vegetarian was for health reasons and I just want motivation, education, and inspiration on how to eat in a way thats filling, and realistic (I can realistically find these ingredients and not have to buy 50 things I may never use)
    Seriously thank you🫡

  • @rockchica09
    @rockchica09 Рік тому +2

I agree with what you're saying on a general basis. However, your approach might come across a little too extreme. I don't think you need to cut out things like dried fruit, oils or peanut butter altogether. Just cutting DOWN the amount is enough and maybe more sustainable long term, in my opinion. I eat all those things on a daily basis, and I have to trouble keeping my weight. The majority of my food is low processed, low fat, and homemade, but I use oil for cooking, drizzle peanut or almond butter over my oatmeal and eat dried fruit for dessert. But like 1 tablespoon of nut butter or 1 tea spoon of oil per serving or 3 pieces of dried food. Heck, you can even eat pizza, chips and chocolate which I do, but maybe not every day and not in large portions. Eating like this you don't feel like missing out and you can stick to it more long term than when you cut out all these foods, maybe on top of already cutting out meat and dairy as a vegan. That can become pretty restrictive pretty fast. Just my two cents 😊

Sometimes I just felt hungry no matter how much fibre, vegetables, water rich foods, or even lentils I ate - until I discovered tofu. It is so high in protein that it eliminates my hunger, especially if I have it with a lot of greens, and finish with an orange or raspberries for dessert for that tangy vitamin C ! Also, to stop myself fro using so much salt, I switched to Heart Salt, which has half as much sodium as potassium. Win-win!

I was down to 800 calories per day and that just was not sustainable. We are not designed to eat under the hunger drive. Need I mention that I gained all that weight back and then some?...

What kind of pb powder is that? PB fit and similar is about 150 calories for 4 T. I haven't seen any pb powder that is 180 calories for 12 T. Maybe you meant 12 teaspoons?
