- So we are back on the E30 again, we need to get this car done, and I know I keep saying that but this time im serious.. we make some SERIOUS headwind today, but its not long before disaster strikes.
Luckily, we can fix it. its not pretty, but it works.

Sorry Lee but I feel like your rushing projects now. I've watched every video of the channel from the start. Love watching you but lately I feel this BMW project is just being rushed and bodged. It could be so nice and worth alot of money yet your just drilling cutting grinding and not measuring and thinking. The piece you cut out I would reweld something back in there for strength. Your gearbox bolts right under the hole and needs strength to hold the weight and twisting forces the box goes through or the floor with just bend and fatigue. All these bodging brackets you've made could look so much nicer if you spent a little more time on them and thought of how it's going to look and function. All it takes it looks at the car the shifter comes off and go to a scrapyard and get the right bracket to weld to yours or make your own to suit and make them nice. The manifold is just a right shame and the welds are going to break for sure. Please slow down and think before you get the grinder out. It was funny before to say if in doubt grind it out, it made me laugh but your doing it every time on every step. You've done so amazing work in the past and your very good at working stuff out. Please take more time to measure twice cut once and have some pride in doing what your making. The car will be great for sure but it could be amazing. Keep it up bro love ya lee ❤
End of the day, it’s a tool, it’s a drift car which does the worst views on UA-cam by a mile, I appreciate the comment and I get where you are coming from, but the more I spend on this car the more money I’m losing out on and the more fun I’m losing out on by declining drift days and experiences.
The original gearbox mounts in these cars are held on by M10 nuts that go onto a sliding bolt that runs down the chassis, what I have done here is way way stronger than using the original mounting point, I have opted for strength rather that aesthetics.
If it works, I’m going to do it and get it done, I’m more than happy to get this done off camera if everybody would prefer that?
Fortunately it’s his project not yours and he can do whatever he likes to it.
@@itsleelockwood no we want it on camera just some more finesse in your work we all know your capable of that's all. Shame UA-cam doesn't pay you more. You could get so much more done and better content. Have you tried getting a sponsor like car vertical or that Carly obd guys ? X
And something simple that takes seconds of your time and makes it look better and better safer is just round off the corners of the brackets and it will look much nicer like they should be there and be safe cus sliding around you don't want to catch the sharp edges and get cut while drifting. Just a long time subscriber trying to help that's all haha. Keep the videos coming mate. We like watching mate x

You will end up ruining a good shell, just get some help and take your time. Not all drift cars are bodge jobs so it’s not a get out of jail card just doing it like that. Do it right and it’ll be a beauty 👍👍💪

Lee i like watching you your a good lad but jesus these projects are getting tough to watch.. could of been a really nice build and dont get me wrong we all like to cut corners but these bodges are getting outta hand 🤦♂️😂 you got alot of potential when it comes to drifting mate, think of how much you will improve with a proper set up car not a cut up shed.
Bro, you need to just chill. I get the pressure you are under and you just want to get it done, but you will be more pissed when it starts breaking when you start driving it. I get it’s just a tool but it needs to stay together and none of us want you to fail.
The lower trans bracket and bushes are touching the tunnel so they won’t allow any movement so the torque will probably twist the bracket off, the shifter you mounted to the tunnel not the box, so as the engine and trans move it’s going to try to shift itself. I’m not picking fault bro, just want it to work for you 💙

What I like about this, is it’s not been edited to show everything going swimmingly. It’s honest. Every fuck up and every win is shown. At no point are you doing a “ this is how it’s done, kids” type affair. You’re having a go and recording results. And this is why I subbed.

Lost touch with your channel a bit, but come back to this beauty! Love the real world build - finessing fancy brackets is all well and good if you have all the budget, access to specialised tooling and limitless time. For the rest of us, a bit of skull-bodgery is where we're at, and that's ok 😎

Lee, did you think about running just an open exhaust or there are noise limits? I'm asking because you can swap the manifolds L->R and R->L and make them facing forward. Some people run them like it to run a single turbo in front of engine.

The manifold.. Its pointless getting the reducer to bring the bore diameter back up to where it should have been initially, its a bottle neck. You didn't need to buy a reducer, you should have just bored a hole over both the small manifold runners, maybe an oval which would have given you the 2", that way you could have just welded the correct diameter pipe onto it

Gearbox needs to move with the Engine Lee that’s why the bracket is fixed to the box. I like your thinking but you may have some issues with it popping out of gear so just watch out.
Chassis mounted shifters are a very popular thing, again this was just mainly a temp fix, will clean up after when it’s all running

Hi Lee, maybe daft but could you not move the steering rack slightly as you can always make adjustments on the track rods. Just a thought. Keep ot up mate.

I have a same gearbox in my garage as a spare. You can have it for £60 but im up in wigan 😅
Loving this build and it such a hard build to and trying to work it all out on your own is so hard definitely as its not like you have done it loads of times. Keep doing what your doing gutted your not at japfest as im there and would have loved to see the car and see how you drive it. Hopefully see it at some point this year and maybe come out in it with you. Keep going we all no you can get it done

I had some 2jz e46 Cybul Radical Solutions engine mounts and they was crap put the engine too far back, i had to cut them up and make my own, also i had there e46 lockkit it was so bad, had it on for 2 years and could never get it set up 100%, what a waste of money never again

Just causing yourself more pain down the road bodging everything like this, gonna be shit when it breaks on the drift day. The biggest mistake you made with this build is not going with a BMW 6cyl or V8 at the start.
